His freshman tape might be a better indicator of his upside.  He had a hell of a season when healthy.  I'm guessing Fred is pulling out all the stops here.  I'm not sure he's a bench player when healthy.  Pretty natural 2 guard.

Looks like a poor man's Tominaga to me. I'm sure he can see himself in that role here which must be pretty appealing. I'd take him in a heartbeat!

I have no idea what Penn State's situation is, but I can't imagine he was truly promised starting time, or else they're gonna be real bad next year.

I don't imagine they promised him anything, but I'm guessing he was told (true or not) they expect him to get significant minutes. I doubt Fred would go that far because he is clearly trying to recruit over everyone except Brice, Gary, and maybe Mast. I do think they will be bad next year though.

    Eli Rice to Penn State...

Which is a big... "Uhmmmm, ok?" to me. Makes me feel like he was pushed out here or something. Feel like any opportunity he'll have at Penn State he would have had here. Is he closer to home now or something?

He probably has a better shot to play at Penn State. Look at it this way...how likely would he have been to start or get significant minutes here based on who we are bringing in? He'd probably have been no better than the 4th option for 2 wing spots. I'm assuming Fred was just honest with him about his likely role and he decided to seek out more PT.

    1.  William Kyle III

    2.  William Kyle III

    3.  William Kyle III

    4.  William Kyle III

If saying the same name 3 times doesn't improve the odds of landing him, then I'll go with this:

    1.  William Kyle III

    2.  Igor Milicic (I'm assuming Mast is out next year)

    3.  A big time shooter who knows his role.

    4.  Matar Diop . . . more specifically a big athletic project who doesn't expect minutes and can give you a good look on the scout team. (I'm assuming this player will transfer out no matter what unless you catch lightning in a bottle)

    * I thought about getting a lock-down defender, but I'm thinking our defense will take a big jump just because we are adding a lot more length and athleticism to the scheme.

Bradley transfer Connor Hickman chose Cincy

I *really* wanted this kid, but figured it was a no go once we signed Worster. The only one higher on my list is William Kyle...hopefully that one works out better. 🤞🏽

    Debateable on that.

But I won't be complaining about it.  I'd definitely keep him here to replace Morgan than in '25-'26

He was a bigger part of our success than people care to admit it.

I'm not sure how it's debatable. Professional teams aren't lining up to sign guys who need surgery and rehab and need to sit out a year. Other leagues don't have the deep pockets of the NBA.

Per Gary Sharp (UNO play-by-play guy), Fidler will be announcing on his morning radio show on Monday morning. Probably means it’s either us or Creighton.

I’d rather have Griffiths if we can only land one, but both would be nice.

I'd like to be able to root for the kid, so ABC!

    (Anywhere but Creighton)

I guess the question is, does he want to beat Indiana, or lose to Nebraska.

Hopefully they can get him on campus for a visit. Then when watching film make sure all of the cut-ups are from our 3 wins against Indiana.

The only true rotation pieces for next year they lost were CJ and potentially rice. Neither of those are back breakers though, so they still have the nucleus of next year's rotation in tact, and can build/add to it.

Ad those two are basically the same guy.

The addendum is that we don't finish in the top four unless we're predicted to be in bottom four, and when we're (rarely) predicted anywhere but the bottom four, we finish in the bottom four.

Here's to a predicted 18th-place finish next year!

It was a good year, but not a great year. Let's hope for greatness in 2024-25. GBR Always.

Good and great are subjective terms, so I can't argue anyone's opinion on that. However, I strongly believe it was a great season, and "great" might not go far enough. I tend to judge a season based on my expectations going in. This season I was expecting .500+ and an NIT berth and hopefully getting on the bubble and sneaking into Dayton if all of the stars aligned. This team finished in 3rd place in the Big Ten (THIRD!) and was widely considered to be a lock before the conference tournament even started.

Meanwhile, the team was a joy to watch, with a fun pace/play style, always gave max effort, and no knuckleheads or prima donnas. Just because it could have been better, doesn't mean it wasn't great, at least not in my book.

  12. I'm planning to watch at Big Red Sports Bar in on Cass, so I'm declaring that the unofficial watch site for Omaha.  Sadly, I wasn't able to swing the road trip to Memphis, but I have to be surrounded by Nebrasketball fans for this history-making game.
