  1. What I don't get about the NBA is why they love youth and potential so much....especially when most of the young guys (other than the elites like we expect out of Zion) don't really start coming into their game until the end of their rookie contract. I look at a guy like Malcolm Brogdon and think he is an incredible value for the Bucks...compared to a guy like Thon Maker that has huge upside, but you have to cut bait near the end of their rookie contract because they are just not ready.
  2. Could be the other way around, too... He might Grad Transfer if Miles comes back...he might want another perspective on his game... The mind inside young adults is tough to decipher.
  3. Do Athletic directors put out statements when the football team win a game or two, the volleyball team wins a game in the second round, etc....these were nice wins, but do ADs need to pat its teams on the back when they have mild success? If they do, then he should...if they don't, then it will feel awkward.
  4. That was my stance last spring...but Miles might have not wanted that and instead took the 1 year extension..figuring that he could parlay this year into a better financial package and if he didn't, the buyout wouldn't change....and he would be gone either way.
  5. I really love how Miles has coached this team the last couple of weeks...but on the other hand, Johnny Trueblood has played great....I always wonder why coaches don't expand their rotations to see if they can find a player on their team that can help them. It reminds me of Velander...he didn't play much and then he did....did he get immensely better or did the coaches just give him a chance to show it. I am not saying that Trueblood should have been a 25 minute player his whole career, but could he have been a sparkplug...on a team that Miles said was Casual?
  6. I do think Nebraska is probably the most attractive job (or at least as attractive) that Hoiberg would consider. His kids are in school in the Midwest, his family is from Nebraska and Iowa.... He has already made a boat load of money, so as long as the money is competitive, that probably isn't an issue. If he goes to Nebraska, the leash will be longer than a school that is more of a blueblood. Lots to like in taking the Nebraska job.
  7. I get that, but if still if you are 4th seed, you are approximately 13-16th team out...and 5th seed you are approximately 17th to 20th team out. IMO, this tells me the Metrics kind of suck...because even though the committees are different, I don't think a 13 win team in the Big 10 should ever be lower than a 6 win team in the Big ten. The conference wasn't that much different than last year other than perception....
  8. What is Crazy 4 seed this year and 5 seed last year...so according to the selection committees, this year's team had a better resume than last years team.
  9. The reason the NCAA is better is because it has better teams...but I think it would be better if they played on home courts in the first two rounds, maybe even the first 4 rounds. when you watch the first round games, many of the games are played in empty arenas...maybe the marque game is almost full in each venue. Heck, I think the Big ten should play the first couple of rounds at home venues until they get to final 8...
  10. I have always believed that the NIT was a better tournament...the NCAA has the better teams, but I have always liked how the NIT has home games for the first three rounds instead of empty arenas for 50% of the games in the NCAA
  11. I also thought that when Doc Sadler was here...I thought his offense created a lot of open looks...and it seemed we could never knock them down. That can be recruiting, confidence, overworking the kids so they don't have legs or another reason I am not thinking of.
  12. I remember the year after the tourney bid and a friend asked me how could we have won so many games last year and we are losing them this year. I told him, I thought we were the exact same team, but we had a player make an incredible amount of shots that most defensive teams are willing to allow...you look like a genius when those shots go in, but you look pedestrian when they don't fall.
  13. The basketball junkies would probably prefer the lawn chairs, as it would keep the other yahoos out of there.
  14. Nebraska 80 Rutgers 73 What the hell 4...get us close and then break our hearts again.
  15. I have gone to games at Minnesota and Iowa...While I liked them for the old charm of them...They are both Dumps and I think the casual fan isn't going to the game for the amenities and the fun that can be had other than watching basketball. You will always attract the basketball junkies, but how do you get the casual fans to go when you aren't winning?
  16. Most big brands started as Local favorites...that is how I rationalize it sometimes.
  17. What I see on fast breaks is that players seem to make the decision way to early instead of letting the play develop and make the decision in the moment... To me it is like watching an option QB that makes the decision at the snap rather than making the decision to pitch the ball after reading the defense.
  18. Bill Self was offered 1 million to come to Nebraska.....He was at Tulsa which would be considered a mid major. There is no guarantee that he would become the success he is now, had he taken the Nebraska job...He might have done well, but many up and coming coaches take a job that sets their career back....Going to Illinois a month or two later ended up being a good move for him and got him the Kansas job.... Who knows if he would have been able to turn around Nebraska....
  19. I understand why people think he needs an extension if retained...but if he gets a multi year extension, Moos will lose a big chunk of the fanbase..
