  1. Yeah, LB's dream is to play with his kid, so there won't be a second year at USC.
  2. PG Elijah Hawkins of Howard to Minnesota, kind of a little guy. https://247sports.com/college/minnesota/article/minnesota-basketball-recruiting-howard-pg-transfer-elijah-hawkin-209829747/
  3. This doesn't have anything to do with the wine dinner, but I like this thread and didn't want it to drop off the first page. NCAA rules changes considered: https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/ncaa-committee-proposes-change-to-block-or-charge-calls-and-other-rule-modifications-for-upcoming-season/ Change in the block/charge rule is the most important, but some others that are interesting: Officials would be able to review goaltending/basket interference calls during the next media timeout to ensure the calls were accurate, as long as the official calls it on the floor. If there is a foul on the shooter while the ball is in the air with a goaltend/basket interference, the review would be immediate to properly adjudicate the potential free throws. Under two minutes, when a coach requests an out-of-bounds play be reviewed, that team would be charged a timeout if the original call is not overturned. A timeout would be able to be granted when a player has possession of the ball even though the player is airborne. (An example would be a player grabbing a loose ball and calling timeout before landing out of bounds.) If a player commits three flagrant 1 fouls in a game, the player would be disqualified from the game. Players would be allowed to wear numbers 0-99.
  4. That team finished 51st on BartTorviik, current team is preseason 45.
  5. Now up to No. 2. Just to clarify what these rankings mean: On3's Team Transfer Portal Index utilizes the On3 (P)erformance score to measure a team’s production during the transfer process, compared relative against its roster and not a comparison against other schools. This proprietary algorithm determines if a school has improved its overall team talent, stayed the same, or declined in talent during the transfer window. It doesn't mean we have the second best transfer class, it means we have the second most improvement via the portal. We replaced low-rated players with higher-rated ones. West Virginia is behind us On3s, but has picked up 2 of CBS' top 10 transfers. However, they're replacing guys off an NCAA tournament roster.
  6. Mrs. Silverback's reaction to husband horndogging a basketball coach during their romantic dinner: :
  7. Upvote on that one. Might be more talented guys out there, but Ulis is exactly what we need and he knows the Big Ten.
  8. Nice to be dealing from a position of strength.
  9. It's probably been mentioned before, but his dad played at Iowa State.
  10. .407 FG%, .373 3pt%, .387 FT%. We finally find a guy who's consistent, and people still complain.
  11. That's where I am: the roster is not complete. I'm not saying we can't pick up 2 high-quality guys, I'm saying we NEED to, and have every hope that Fred can make it happen. My original post was not a prediction of doom, it was a pushback against the notion that the rotation that was posted was a good one. I'm saying that rotation is not good enough.
  12. A center for one. Mast is a nice inside-outside option, although maybe he's better suited for 4. WB and Keisei Keita are just hopes at this point, that one will develop and the other will be healthy. I also think we need a PG and don't buy the "positionless offense" argument. The only way this team can win is to play defense and at a slower tempo. We need somebody running a half-court offense, a floor general and a guy who can create shots late in the clock. I also think we need at least one of them to be a scoring option. Another unpopular opinion: Keisei exploded at midseason and averaged over 17 ppg in the last 10 games, but I think the league was caught completely off guard by his emergence. This season, he'll be the focal point for planning on every game, and it remains to be seen how he can handle that grind over 30 games. I'm not saying he's going to fall off a cliff, but I think we need more options when an opponent shuts him down. I'll repeat what I said earlier about that 9-man rotation: That is not an NCAA tournament team. I count one guy who could start for a top-half Big Ten team, 4 who could make a rotation and 4 who would not play, unless you add "but he may be healthy," "but he may develop," "but he may shoot better" or "but he may be really good, even though he's never played a game in college." We're building on a 16-16 team that lost 3 starters. This roster doesn't look like it's capable of making the jump needed to get to the NCAA. Pray for Fred to him a couple of home runs in the weeks ahead.
  13. That is not an NCAA tournament team's rotation. We need at least 2 high-level transfers.
  14. I heard George Mason. Or was it George Washington?
  15. .366 3-point shooter, 3-1 A/T, he looks like he'll be top 5 on Torvik portal rankings. That might work. Btw, Toledo won 27 games last year.
  16. I don't know, I might be ready for it to end.
  17. The Cuervo gold, The fine Columbian Make tonight a wonderful thing
  18. I was responding to the point that WF had 3 guys penciled in at the guard spots, so Sallis would have to push one of them out. What I'm saying is that wherever he goes, he's going to be pushing somebody out the lineup. Fwiw, Torvik has our current lineup ranked higher than Wake Forest.
  19. Don't we have 3 as well with KT (I'm assuming he returns), Lawrence and Williams? Not to mention Lloyd and Wilcher. If Sallis wants to start, he's going to have to push somebody aside at either place.
  20. Official, Wrightsold his soul to Bama: https://twitter.com/LJWrightsell/status/1650193065804697601
  21. I remember listening to that play on the radio! Oh, yeah, we lost.
  22. I love his game and hope we can find a spot for him, but I realize there might be bigger priorities.
