    Donkey got a reaction from Ashfan in Coaches that you think should be on Nebraska's list, if this trend continues
    My in-laws worked in the Maryland AD for years and are still very connected.  The general view is that people like Turgeon but feel Maryland is deserving of a “better” coach. It reminds me of the relationship Mark Richt had with Georgia. If Nebraska were to offer, Maryland would not exactly fight to keep him. However, I have no clue as to Turgeon’s interest.

    On another note, a close friend of mine has a very close connection with Duke and shared the following. Evidently, once a year the Duke alumni newsletter examines the current basketball coaching staff during the season and identifies specific schools where each assistant coach could become a HC. The January 2019 newsletter listed Nebraska as one of five schools were Jon Scheyer could land as HC. At the time of publication, Miles had the team playing well; and the newsletter noted Scheyer to Nebraska would only occur if Miles was fired while, alternatively, the other schools were already on the brink of a coaching transition. The newsletter does not indicate whether Coach K had any input but these projections are not based on idle speculation.

    Looking at NET rankings I think going 4-1 is possible, maybe even 5-0.  What do you guys think?  It's time that we got some bounces (and calls) to go our way and start a winning streak.

    Handy: I think I (and most others here) fell victim to worshiping at the altar of false expectations. Now that I have had time to soberly reassess yesterday's results, I am reminded that all I wanted when the year began was for the team to get invited to the Dance and to finally win a game or two. This goal is certainly still achievable.

    More than anything I hate how we have lost on the road. Not who we lost to, just how we lost. Against Minnesota and UMD we were up, and needed a few key stops to put it away. Against Iowa we were down, got a few key stops, and couldn't score. In fact, I think down the stretch in the Iowa game down we got like 3 straight turnovers and didn't score. Can't do that.

    What if we lose the rest of our road games (except Illinois, Penn State and Rutgers) and win every home game? I would be completely happy with that. It would put us in the top four in the conf for seeding in tournament. It sucks we lost those three games, but we are still a dangerous team who hasn't lost at home since we lost by 1 to Kansas in 2017.... It's not crazy to think we could go undefeated at the vault

    One thing we have going for us this year is we have wins against probable NCAA tournament teams.  Last year we had one (Michigan).  This year we have three (@ Clemson, Seton Hall, Creighton) with about 10 chances (Iowa 2x, @ Indiana, MSU 2x, OSU, Wisconsin, Maryland, Minnesota, and @ Michigan) Possibly 2 more with Purdue.

    Just winning our home games gives us 9 or 10 (depending on the Purdue game) quality wins for the season.  Rutgers, Illinois, and Penn State wins get us 13 - 7 in conference and 23 - 8 overall.  That will give us a 5 or 6 seed.

    Not all mono cases are the same. As I stated previously in another thread, there can be longer term, even severe side effects, from mono. Inflamation of the spleen, weight loss, and fatigue. Recovery from mono can be very short to 3 months.

    I'm not trying to be intentionally negative, but until we know more, which we may not, or Amir returns to the court I wouldn't count on him contributing anytime soon.

    Other than Glynn saying he will be back soon as anybody heard anything official from TM?

    Other than a once-in-a-lifetime run by the Gamecocks, I don't associate South Carolina with much of anything in basketball either. Big on secession, sure. Basketball, not so much.

    Well, now we can specifically call him out as a player not likely to be around next year without having to worry about bagging on a current student-athlete.  So, there is that.

    Hearing the practices are going well.  Team is really focused and Thomas Allen has really stepped up.  Seems Chan is equal to (or better than) Jordy offensively (if that means anything) but have not heard about Chan defensively.

    Why he may have done a great job with basketball, he will forever be marked by the fact he voted for Michigan over Nebraska in the 1997 National Championship vote.  He is dead to me unless he takes Dirk C with him.

    This might be a minor detail, but what excites me most about these commitment tweets is how the majority of them include a picture of the PBA filled to the brim. There's no way that's not at least a small factor in why recruits get excited about this program. GBR!

    Jordy shouldn’t have put us in a major bind. Him leaving wasn’t surprising and the coaching staff should have been prepared.

    Wow.  A poster’s 13th post is to trash Bill Moos?!  That’s a new approach.
    But that post is incomplete—it leaves out some solid stuff about Kent.
    For example, it leaves out this:

    “While at Oregon, Kent led the Ducks to seven postseason appearances, including five NCAA Tournament Appearances (2000, 2002, 2003, 2007, 2008) as well as a Pac-10 regular-season (2002) and  two conference tournament (2003, 2007) titles”;

    “Kent took two Oregon teams to the NCAA Elite Eight (2002 and 2007) and guided the Ducks to the NIT Final Four on two occasions (1999, 2004)”;

    ”Kent helped produce four NBA First Round Draft selections and became Oregon’s all-time wins leader”; and

    “Under Kent’s direction, the Duck men’s basketball team ranked No. 1 amongst Pac-10 schools in the NCAA’s Academic Progress Rate several times throughout his head coaching career.”

    Let’s stipulate that we don’t want Kent at Nebraska—for good reasons.  But while trashing basketball Moos, let’s at least acknowledge the full picture—part of which is pretty darn good.

    At this point he is not hiring a basketball coach so I am not going to fret.  No his track record is not good but unless we tank it this year, he will not be hiring a new basketball coach again next year.

    Won’t miss Jack at all.   With all 3 coming back, any potential role he had has evaporated
    also not worried too much about the two.  Gill and Taylor were nice surprises and solid players last year.   But let’s not make them into all conference guys.   Between Amir, Thor, Thomas, Nana and even Palmer due to the flexibility of Roby and Copeland, I’m not worried at all about those minutes
    the spot that I am concerned about is dubys spot.   Not that we can’t replace him but that we need someone better to push Jordy in the post    I have no doubt Roby still starts, but until Jordy elevates his game AND proves he can stay on the floor for extended minutes without foul trouble, we need another capable post

    Good points, but I wonder if Gallegos' graduating had more of an impact than realized.  Even though Gallegos did not put up the numbers his senior year like he did his junior year, he still was a legitimate scoring threat.  Coaches had to game plan for him.  Also, Gallegos was a 3pt threat which opened the floor for Petteway and Shields.  Also consider that Pitchford, another 3pt threat went from .410 to .289 from behind the arc.  Teams were just not as afraid of Nebraska's 3pt shooting in 2014-2015.  That clogged the offense.

    Leslee Smith's injury also made an impact.  There was no offense and limited defense in the post with Hammond (true frosh, needed a year in the weight room), Rivers (undersized), and Moses (knees).

    For 2018-2019, Gill's loss is somewhat mitigated as he seemed to wear down as the season concluded.  The offense improved when Gill was shooting well.  Evan Taylor was solid off the bench and it will be interesting to see who can hold down that role.  However, like in 2014-2015, it really comes down to whether 3pt shooting stays the same/improves instead of regressing.
