Your list is good except for one thing, Ntambwe the forward. He has to sit a year so I wouldn't take him. I repeat don't take a forward or center if they have to sit a year. we need help their immediately, no exceptions!!

The NBA Combine is May 15-19, hence May 29.

I can see the NBA being concerned with allowing undrafted student-athletes to return to college.

Bird was selected by the Boston Celtics with the sixth overall pick in the 1978 NBA draft.[15] He did not sign with the Celtics immediately; instead, he played out his final season at Indiana State and led the Sycamores to the NCAA title game. Red Auerbach publicly stated that he would not pay Bird more than any Celtic on the current roster, but Bird's agent bluntly told Red that Bird would reject any sub-market offers and simply enter the 1979 NBA Draft instead, where Boston's rights would expire the second the draft began and Bird would have been the likely top pick. After protracted negotiations, Bird inked a five-year, $3.25 million contract with the team, making him the highest paid rookie in league history at the time.[8][17] Shortly afterwards, NBA draft eligibility rules were changed to prevent teams from drafting players before they were ready to sign, a rule known as the Bird Collegiate Rule.[17]

Every day hearing something new.  The most consistent rumor is Gates staying.  No inside information, but I would not be surprised if that happened.  Let's be fair though.  Hoiberg has his main recruiter signed, sealed, delivered.  The other assistants will be beneficial but will not likely provide an immediate impact unless they are bringing a big name with them (and none of the names floated have that).

Nana is gone.  See his twitter page.  Its just not official.
Thor has been rumored to be weighing a professional offer from an Icelandic team.
Roby has until May 29 to make a decision.  No inside information, but I can only see him leaving if he gets a guarantee.  However, May 29 may be too early for teams to be making that kind of a commitment for a 1st rounder (but not necessarily 2nd rounder).  The best projections I have seen over the last 6 months had Roby in the mid-high teens.  However, that was in December.  The more recent ones have Roby in the 40s.

Jervay is the only one who matters of the 2019 recruits.

Even if Miles were retained, this team was going to be gutted as it was losing 4 seniors, Roby was going to test the NBA waters, Allen (likely) and Nana (definitely) were gone, Thor was already looking around, and there was already 1 open scholarship.  That was only 4 players likely returning in the fall assuming even with Miles staying.

Hoiberg was going to recruit over Mika (hence his decommitment).

We may not know until they are seen on the sidelines.  I have heard a rumor of a highly rated PG already in tow (definitely not Mack).  No confirmation yet.

Let's assume Thor and Roby stay, but Heiman redshirts next year for a total of 7 available scholarships.  That leaves 5 players available to play next year with Davis coming off a serious injury.  Hoiberg would need 1 PG and 2 bigs to realistically play next year.  Akol is projected to be a 3 primarily and a 4 in smaller lineups.  Assuming Jervay could run the point during, Hoiberg would still need 2 bigs. That would leave 3 scholarships for sit-out contractors.

You're contention is that the "national media" will be hammering Nebraska tomorrow for drawing 10k to a NIT game during the first full day of March Madness?  That somehow the program will be raked over the coals for potentially making a coaching change like a lot of other programs do?

My man. Tim Miles most likely will be fired the day after our season ends.  It would appear we have our next coach lined up. You seem to be getting exactly what you want. Why after this are you still actively rooting for out team to lose? The players can pound sand so you, not them, can feel better? We're all "fan boys" for doing such dumb things as 'wanting the team to win' as opposed to the 37 dimension chess game you think you're playing? At what point does needing to be right outweigh anything else?

Stop it. This is a pretty sad attempt at walking back an absolutely absurd statement. If you're so concerned about "how miserable it will be for the coaches" then focus that blame on the administration for dragging it out instead of hoping that the team loses because how dare they have the audacity to earn the invitation to play in a postseason tournament. But don't assume you know better than the people in that locker room whether they want to play (or coach) or not.

And if winning an NIT game somehow costs Nebraska its top coaching prospect, that clearly wasn't a coach all that interested in Nebraska in the first place, which maybe isn't a trait you'd want in the person leading your basketball program anyway.

The long term health of this program and it's student athletes would benefit greatly by losing tonight. It will also help our coaching staff get a head start job hunting as they will be in high demand, IMO.

To be fair Doc’s hiring was not typical. Collier was not fired but took the Butler AD position not long before fall classes started. Pederson had few choices and needed to move quickly. I am not sure whether a better candidate was even available.

I think it boils down pretty simply:

18 wins - Bubbly and very close, likely NIT bound in my opinion.
19 wins - Bubbly, likely NCAA bound
20 wins - NCAA and hopefully/potentially the retirement of two threads - "Our Next Coach" and "Enjoying the Last Month of the Miles Era"!

The easiest path to 18 wins is obviously tomorrow at PSU and the two remaining home games.  I just don't know if collectively those three wins have enough "Wow" factor to make us a slam dunk case.  My gut tells me our Quad 1 wins, which would likely be 5 at that point just don't jump off the page as some other teams Quad 1 wins might.  I think that 19th win, whether a road win at MSU or Michigan or in the Big Tourney is really critical.

Here is the deal...number one, Tim Miles is our coach and will be cheered on by me until the day he is not the coach.  There certainly is going to be angst and teeth gnashing due to what has occurred the past month.  But until I hear differently, he is still OUR coach.

Number two, it is naive to think that anyone has communicated directly with any coach.  That isn't what happens in today's world.  Instead, contact is made with a coaches agent or representative.  Any preliminary discussion goes through that individual.  So if there is word on the street of mutual interest or words to that effect, that declaration of interest did not come from a coaches mouth; instead, it would have come from the agent or the representative who then, when appropriate, would float it past the coach.  Given that we still have a coach, and that coach is still under a multi-year contract, I doubt any substantial discussion has taken place.  If anything took place, I surmise it would be Director of Athletics Moos, or one of his minions, contacted an agent (who may represent a number of coaches).  Moos would say something akin to "we have a coach, but things may change at the end of the season; we may be interested in reaching out to Coach A, B and C."  The agent then would reply something akin to, "hey, I will be here and we would be glad to listen to what you have in mind."  Now if the agent represents an unemployed coach, that conversation may have a bit more texture.   To date, since we do not have an opening, any further conversation is unlikely.  Also, if another coach is under contract, I believe it is appropriate (or maybe even required) to receive permission from the school to talk to the coach.  Do you believe any school would allow you to talk to a coach, who is under contract, while the season is active?
