He can hold his own in the Summit.  He’ll struggle in the Big Ten.  But like Keisei, you’re not bringing him in for his defense.

Got to think Kyle would like our on-court pitch. The Josiah Allick (++) role. But more ideally for Fred and William, the Jameel McKay role. Very similar players. 6'9", long, bouncy, defensive-minded. Fred's last year at Iowa State McKay was the Big 12 DPOY and 3rd team all-conference. 
The 3-4-5 on that team was Hogue-Niang-McKay. Hogue looks and plays an awful lot like Juwan Gary. Hoiberg has talked a lot about how he uses Mast in the same way he used Niang in the offense. The point guard on that team was Monte Morris (c'mon Chucky). 

Oh, come on! He knows how to put up 25 points, 8-14 FG (57%), and 7-10 (70%) against Nebraska.
 
He would be great for our practice/scouting squad!

If Jamarques Lawrence is leaving, I'm guessing it's because they were honest with him and told him they didn't see him having a starting role this season. And if that's the case, I find it hard to believe they would tell Frankie Fidler he would have a starting role here. I've heard they really like Ulis more than people know and that leaves Williams/Gary and two big men (Mast + 1) as our starters. 
 
I will be shocked if it isn't Wisconsin, and I'm OK with it because I think we're about to load up in the next couple weeks. 

Gary has a relationship with Frankie from calling UNO basketball games. The guy's had a kid on his show that committed to Iowa. The fact he's doing it on Gary's show doesn't mean anything in regards to where he'll end up. I personally think he's just gonna shock everyone and just stay at UNO tbh. 

Umm, let's just say he is Mark Cuban's brother-in-law.

Not to nitpick but the rotation was 8 at the end of the year and I'd argue if Ulis would have been available it would have been 9. Depending on who we land, I would anticipate being able to go 9 deep next season, maybe 10. At least that's what I hope we will be capable of. 🙂

There is real value in having a starting caliber player who doesn’t have any pro aspirations. A guy who isn’t trying to showcase or advertise his individual skillset to pro scouts. Just wants to contribute and play for a great college team for one more year before going back to the family farm. 

Awesome. Really interested to read his post-commit interview with Washut, assuming there will be one. The staff pitched him the Mast role. I think Mast is coming back. I suppose $200k makes it easier to convince a senior to come off the bench. 

I think they can play together. It shouldn’t be much different than Rienk playing with Allick. The nice thing about Morgan is if Rienk is on the bench he can serve as a center better than Allick could due to his size.
 
But ideally we get one of the athletic bigs (Payne, Kyle). That way we can pretty much always have two of the three on the court at once.

I was always under the assumption that this was to compliment Mast.  Especially with losing Allick, Keita, and Diop.

And they have JT Rock sitting in the wing after redshirting a year. So that's 3 bigs, with two being portal additions, without knowing too much what about the roster

Hopefully good news for us. Schaefer (I think) said he wants to be close to home. He’s been #1 on my portal wish list since months before he entered.

I agree honestly. Unless he's fine being a role guy, I can't see it. There's flaws to his game, but there is some good to his game. 

Think we need some big bodies so we are getting as many visits as we can…

This could be a play to force WK11 hand, like hey we really like this guy, if your N, be N if not we’re going a different way
