Diop is the rumor. I would hope he sticks it out and develops but wouldn’t surprise me.

Assuming he's got his Tommy Boy phase out of the way, he'd be a great pickup. We're more of a self-responsibility type organization than most.

I would assume that the lack of news about this means we're talking tragic accident as opposed to something like a DUI.

Like others have said, competition. But I wouldn't be shocked if they look at a guy or two that didn't workout at their previous stop after one year similar to CJ Wilcher. No clue on who that would include, but a 3 year guy that can develop over those 3 years makes sense.

We are in a significantly better place in terms of landing guys out of the transfer portal than we were last season. Hopefully that means we are able to land an even better group.

My guesses would be: Malique Ewin - post player who was at Ole Miss last year and is now at South Plains (they played today).
And Tavion Banks who plays for NW Florida St (also played today) and is originally from Kansas City.

I would wonder with CJ transferring if some minutes just opened up at Nebraska for a Frankie Fidler type

Not to take the easy way out, but I've watched a lot of his film and would describe him as a "basketball player". By that I mean he can probably do anything that we ask him to. The question will be what do we ask him to do. He can run the offense and take guys off the dribble, he can catch and shoot, he can pull up and shoot off the dribble. He can play make. I've seen him posting up down low in some clips.
If I had to guess though, he probably lacks the quickness and burst to be a Big Ten point guard and will start his career as a SG.
I can't contain my excitement for this guy. I think he has a special level of competitiveness and work ethic that is going to make an instant impact. I know this interview has been posted before, but I'm ready to run through a brick wall.

The difference in PG and SG three point shooting is that the PG often has to create their shot using the dribble and on-ball screens, vs catch and shoot and off-ball screens. A good shooter at one spot isn’t necessarily going to be good at the other.
I haven’t watched enough of his film to know which he excels at, or if he excels at both. If he is much better at one than the other, I hope we don’t try to steer too hard to the other to fill a roster need. We’ve seen that have mixed results with Brice and JLaw this past year.
But I am right there with you, hoping he’s capable and takes the PG spot.

Yeah, last year I was very worried about bringing in the right pieces to replace Walker, Griesel and Bandoumel. However, now that Fred has proven he can identify, recruit, and replace those types of players with similar types or upgraded types of players, I feel much more confident Fred and staff will do the same this offseason. The lesson I learned from last year is that the pieces we land may not be the ones everyone is talking about now and that's ok as long as they find the right pieces to fit and to keep moving this thing in a positive direction. I agree it's in Fred we trust at this point.

So far, I'd say it's just like last year and the guys who are portalling are the guys who the coaches probably told to portal.
We have 4 spots to fill; we are early to the trough; we have some selling points to make for ourselves; and we probably have some cash to spend.
If you've entered the portal and you want to see how you'd fit into our system, here's some film. Feast your eyes.

To me the big picture is we built an identity two years ago, we added on to it last season successfully, and we need to continue to build with with the best guys we can find who fit that identity

You'll probably get an answer based on where he transfers. I'd assume smaller school for more playing time but we shall see
