Yes, we get no credit for an excellent game plan, good defense, and efficient offense.

I can only speak from my own experience regarding this. When PBA opened my brother purchased two season tickets in the 300 level and I joined him for most of the games. I found that people around us had no problem getting into cheering. I think there were a couple of reasons for this. The first was there was excitement about moving into PBA and we had some good non-conference opponents, especially the opener. The second may have been an influx of new blood into the fan base in terms of in person attendance. It seemed that everyone near us were first timers in terms of season ticket holders and most lived outside of Lincoln (as did we) and were eager to support the basketball team. From my perspective it was a great atmosphere, even up in the rafters. And once the team went on their run in conference play, every game became bigger, ultimately turning the season into a special one. Unfortunately we didn't capitalize on this success the following year, but I digress. The point is the atmosphere in PBA can be special as we have already witnessed it be so.

Three pretty decent recruits plus Bryce in the house as well.

Those of us that followed Nebraska basketball well before Tim's arrival know that the statement above doesn't ring true. The atmosphere in Devaney was great in the 80's and 90's. PBA is a great facility, but playing in it doesn't mean the atmosphere will be great. It's the fans that make it great and Nebraska fans have been remarkable in supporting programs that have struggled for years.

I lived in Kearney at the time and I was driving to work and was listening to the local morning radio show when they announced breaking news regarding a plane hitting one of the towers. By the time I got to work which took about 20 minutes, the narrative started to change from accidentally flying into the tower to deliberately targeting the towers with a plane. When I got in the office the TV was on and you could see the smoke rolling out of the building. We continued watching the live footage until the second plane hit the other tower and then shortly afterwords got word that the Pentagon had been hit as well. That's when my boss told us to go home.

At the time I was working at the software company in Boston.  It was just an absolutely perfect day, weather wise.  Other than that it was just another ordinary workday.  I remember when the first report of a plane hitting the twin towers came in and I almost thought it was a joke.  But quickly reality started to sink in what was really going on.  Our phones stopped ringing pretty much immediately and the whole office became eerily quiet.

They shut the office down mid-morning (like everywhere else in town) and it was weird to commute home at that time.  We were all in a daze and honestly it's a miracle there weren't a bunch of crashes on the highway.  The entire day was a complete fog, the whole country (heck, the world) was in shock and didn't know what was gonna happen next.

I'm not sure exactly how long after it happened (I think it was more than a year after though) I remember driving down to NYC one weekend and went past the ground zero site to see it for myself and it was still a complete mess.  I was overcome with profound sadness and essentially just turned around and drove right back to Boston.  Shit like that attack on the WTC should never happen...to anyone.  But in a weird way I am glad I went to witness it in person.  It's hard to explain why, but it did have a greater impact than anything one would see on TV or in the movies, or even by visiting the memorial.  My respect for New Yorkers and their resilience was dramatically affected right then and there.

For me, it put in perspective all the other petty shit that people worry about, that's for sure.

I would agree, this certainly didn't help. The students being on the floor made for a better atmosphere.

I agree. Energy can be lacking at times, especially if we are playing a school most fans (students included) haven't heard of and assume it should be an easy W. We certainly are not alone in this regard.

The fact that someone has to exhort the crowd into action could be considered a problem.

It will be interesting to see how the minutes are distributed this season. The first 8 on the list will average double figure minutes (guessing 20-32 mpg). If Rice continues to surprise, he could as well.

Ten years ago today, a lot of people, including myself, lost a really good friend.  It was someone I'd known for close to 40 years as he grew up a few miles away.  I didn't go to the same high school, but I was in the same 4-H club, worked some of the same jobs in the summer, was on the same high school team for a year, took a whole bunch of classes with him in college, and got to hang around him a decent amount.  He had the rare ability to make sitting through the dullest things like a Thermodynamics class entertaining.  I never heard anyone speak a bad word of him, except that maybe his feet were too big and he didn't cut his fingernails down enough.

He was also the stepfather of Josiah Allick and his siblings.  Josiah switched his jersey number to 53 this year, in honor of him, because that was his football jersey number.  I don't know Josiah, but I hope he has a huge season this year.  Go Big Red.

Should have been fired with cause and forfeited the remainder of what was owed him on his contract. But somehow this colossal prick thinks he has been wronged.
