Nebraska (5-12)(1-7) vs. Maryland (11-10)(5-9) Game Thread

We have one guard on the roster in McGowens that is quick enough to defend against good guards. We need a couple more. -

I don't see Walker on the bench. He must be under the weather. -

Trey needs to just make the simple plays. Forcing things way too much the last 3 games. -

Pucker factor is about 200 right now! -
FWIW, both would have exhausted their eligibility last season if they had stayed.

Hard to say on this one. Is his friendship strong enough to keep him here for another year with the prospect of not playing much again next season?

We will see how accurate the projection is next year, but we do have a top 20 class signed for next season. -

It's possible it may not be a player, but a coach, trainer, etc.

Jeriah Horne had 17 tonight for Colorado in a win over #17 Oregon. -
I get it, you're frustrated just like the rest of us, but we are less than half way through year two of the Hoiberg era. We were all hoping for better results in year two in terms of wins and losses but that hasn't happened yet and it may not this season. Having said this, there is no doubt that this team has more talent than last year and will be adding more talent next season. It's hard to be patient, believe me I know as I've been an avid Husker basketball fan for 40 years. At the moment I'll trust that Fred is going to turn the program into what we all know it can be.

No inside info on Shamiel, but I would think that he would be playing with his hair on fire in the minutes he does get in order to earn more. Thor is not terrible. Yvan is not terrible. Are they limited at this level? Yes. But they are still valuable contributors to the team and so is Lat. I'm all for constructive criticism when warranted, but none of these guys deserve to be called terrible.

I would say that is what Nee did as well as we had very few shooters during his tenure and the same can be said under Iba. That appears to be changing under Fred.

Trey is having a great game, but you can't waste possessions. -

Cheatham was a big key to this last year as he was always looking to run and so was Burke for the most part. Then of course Mack was always looking for those guys too. IMO, we don't have the speed to do this as effectively as we did last season. Our fastest/quickest guard is Trey and pushing the ball may be the best part of his game, but who else? Having said this, Trey could probably do this more if he wasn't looking for someone to draw a foul on that is trailing the play. It may aid us by getting additional fouls on the opponent, but it also prevents us from attacking when we have a numbers advantage. -

This loss sucks for sure, but I've seen this before. In 1995 at Oklahoma St. we got drubbed 93-53. That team was not great by any means, but it did have Erick Strickland, Jaron Boone and Terrance Badgett who were all juniors, so enough talent that you would expect them to be at least competitive against an unranked OSU team. We weren't and sometimes games like this happen to good teams (not saying we are at present). We will see what kind of character this "team" has on Saturday against MSU. I have no doubt that all of these guys are competitors and want to win, but will they start doing the things necessary for the team to succeed. The snowball is picking up steam, can they stop it. One other item that is similar between this year and the 94-95 season. During that 94-95 season, we had a future NBA player signed who ended up starting at point guard as a freshman the following season. Hopefully the 20-21 team will have a future NBA player starting for it as well. -

During the halftime show, Jess Settles said that Nebraska's players don't trust each other. I would have to agree. -
