  1. I don't know... We're 14/14 in 3pt defense and 13/14 in our own 3pt %. Teams almost shoot 41% from 3 against us - and we don't have someone shooting that high individually. So I'm not sure if anything matters. We just suck.
  2. I'm very disappointed in Watson. When he came in I thought we were getting a true "point guard." Old school, lead your team, get everyone right, hit big shots and FTs, consistent stalwart of the team. He's been up and down, hot and cold... Does not seem to want to lead vocally... Doesn't seem to have a "bird's eye view" of the offense, plays, and strategy (although, that can definitely be on TM). Seems just more like a "Rey Gallegos" - guy you need to play PG because of his size/skill - but just does not have the PG intangibles. DEFINITELY HOPE I AM WRONG......
  3. Gotta be honest. I don't disagree with you (as the dust has settled). I have been around Yori quite a bit. Seen plenty of practices, plenty of camps... She's just a hard-ass and an A-type personality. Never got "mean/evil/unethical/neglectful, etc..." out of her. She was just a TOUGH, TOUGH, TOUGH lady and Great Coach. And hell, she won.
  4. I'm not here supporting the idea to fire Miles. I've just really tried to get out of that cycle and remove myself from those discussions. But what I will say is, as an outsider viewing these coaching firing cycles, I don't think he makes it out of this. Feel like I've seen this enough now, and generally been a fan of sports long enough, to see this doesn't end well.
  5. 5-star Copeland from gtown tho...
  6. I'm not sure if Eichorst is interested or not - but I guarantee to coach the team to similar mistakes and mind numbing efforts - and I'll do it for a minimal cost.
  7. I'm sick as a dog - have been for like 2 weeks - and last night was definitely one of the worst nights. Today I started to feel better and on the upward curve. Maybe the second half of this game can get us started on the upward curve for next year. Im reaching guys
  8. Agreed. Very disappointing. Type of game that wouldn't have been a big deal if there was no Gardner-Webb and the close loses where we let them slip out of our fingertips.
  9. Agreed. Illinois played some inspired, locked-in defense. I wish I could be a fly on the wall in our coach's meetings - I'd like to know what they really think is going on with the 3pt D.
  10. Frustrating night for sure. Not sure what happened.
  11. Fellas... I see some people upset right now. Illinois is shooting over 50% from 3pt as I type this. They're just throwing the ball at the rim.
  12. We're doing a lot more side to side action with screening and set action. Really helping distort the defense. Good move coach
  13. We need to run some full sets. No more quick hitters into motion - Illinois is guarding too well right now. *as I type this they ran a pretty set to get McVeigh a 3, but he got a lay up out of it. Well done, coach.
  14. My Roku is super behind right now - so do not mind my potentially super late takes. But our offensive rhythm is soooooo bad right now.
  15. There were a couple times were Jack was in the middle to start, and literally guarded from the left wing to the right corner. I kept thinking it had to be man, but then the guy on the top just completely abandoned the guy I figured he was guarding and stayed up top.
  16. If anything, it's more like a diamond and one - and whoever is in the middle kind of gets to roam or deny someone. Really confused the offense.
  17. Also - our 1-3-1 is a lot more than your typical 1-3-1. I knew something was up the first time I watched us play it against Maryland. Saw it pretty clearly last night. Very creative.
  18. MSU MSU'ed tonight- not much beyond that.
  19. Wow....... eye opening. All of those guys minus Blackmon, Jok, and Walton are 4ish's and 5's. Good to know there's at least some statistical evidence behind my buddies and I constantly agreeing we need an elite swing 4 guy.
  20. Did you run those numbers yourself? What adjustments do you/did you make for the college game? McVeigh's numbers are very interesting to me - I've been wanting to see what the numbers say about the value of him on the court. Because for Miles to hold back Horne because of defensive errors and play McVeigh is highly suspect to me. McVeigh doesn't necessarily make mistakes hand over fist, he's just not athletic enough to make some of the plays I think a better athlete could make.
  21. You mean the one I prefaced by saying this? "Went to the game last night.... My initial thought - recruiting evaluation is really hard. Check that - it's really easy at the B1G/ACC/Big East/Pac10/B12 level. Those obvious guys speak for themselves. However, that next group right under them can make or break you as a program. There's guys down in that next tier that have potential to be special and real steals. Those same guys could also end up at an NAIA or a D2 and just be average." Sure. But I'm not sure what you'll get out of it considering they'll play for completely different programs that will never play one another. And there's about 100 variables to determine who ended up "better." And as I said in that thread - I hope I'm wrong. But yeah let's revisit it someday.
  22. Just because I don't ever want this thread to die, since I too despise Adidas: https://twitter.com/tapnorris/status/828366593461743616
  23. Not saying anything anyone else hasn't already - but 3pt defense has to be fixed. Nothing more deadening that watching us make a run and then give up a dagger. I would start with something I've been saying for a quite a bit during Miles tenure - we MUST SWITCH MORE. I have more thoughts on what I believe our mentality should be with post defense, but I don't have the time or energy to hit on them now.
