I am kind of starting to wonder if you DON'T want to do this to build a good, quality, consistent program. Starting throwing money and guys and they are start running the program. But get good, solid players in here that appreciate and get what Fred is doing and wants to build and you have something.

I disagree 7 is yhe ceiling. Neutral court wins over Indiana, Illinois, and Purdue,  the last 2 top 10 teams, and I think a 5 seed is likely. Two quad 1a wins on bracket weekend would push us up a ton with how bunched things are.

I don't think the above is happening,  as much as I'd love to test my theory.

False accusations happen but it's far more common for a legal acquittal to happen despite an actual assault. That's because there are rarely witnesses and it's a case of he said/ she said. Thus why so many go unreported, because why relive the trauma when nothing will happen to the perpetrator?

Obviously none of us knows the truth here but imagine he did it and the victim sees him honored. Preventing him from playing basketball won't ruin his life, even if he is innocent. He is still getting a free education while suspended.

I fully agree that innocent until proven guilty is the right standard for criminal conviction.  The privilege of playing college basketball and winning awards is a far different standard in my opinion.  He shouldn't be playing. Lawrence Phillips shouldn't have been allowed back on the team, despite what I wanted in 1995. My thinking has evolved on this and many other things in the last 30 years.

Offensively, he is probably on the all-time Hisker team. But this thread has largely ignored his defense...or lack of. That's why I'd keep him off.

He also has games he disappears. Not so for Lue,  or Hoppen, or a guy like Strickland,  who wasn't a consistently great offensive  player, always impacted games with his defense.

I love watching him play and will wish we still had him when next season rolls around.

    If my options are:
    1. Play in Omaha against a 7 seed who should be a 4 seed
    2. Play any other location against a 7, 8 or 9 seed that is perceivably not very good.

Id take the Omaha game 100% of the time.

If playing in Omaha is assumed, the chances are near zero of us losing to a 7 seed.

I have cheered doggedly for the Huskers all of my life. Still, by any measurable standard Nebraska HAS BEEN a basketball failure with a few outlier seasons along the way. MOST Nebraskans desperately want to cheer for the Huskers as opposed to Creighton but decades of disappointment has made MANY timid about it. Everyone knows the issues. Alas!!!
    - Nebraska has not won a regular season conference title since 1950. 1950!!!! That means not in my lifetime! We would be giddy about finishing as a double bye team!
    - Nebraska has only made the NCAA tournament 7 times and is the ONLY P5 conference team that has never won a game. This state would come unglued if the Huskers changed that this year. If Creighton won the NCAA title and Nebraska just won a first round game FEW in this state would be talking about Creighton. Almost everyone would be talking about the Huskers!
    - Despite playing every year, Nebraska has only beaten Creighton 6 times in this century (one of the wins was an NIT match). It SICKENS me to eat crow instead of Bluejay every year!

There is not systemic reason why Nebraska has done so poorly. I don't think we have to be a Final 4 team. But this whole state is a spring wound tight ready to rally around the Huskers. It could be like no other program in the country. We just need some hope!If If Hoiberg can get this train rolling and Sam G/Derrick Walker are the hinges on which the gate of success swings then I say bless 'em and put up some statues!

Not to brag, but I'm giving $20 a month, so that should cover it as long as they find just one donor to match me at 1000000%

Hopefully their deals are lucrative enough to keep everybody around.  They wouldn't need to add very many more players to potentially be really good.  And not just really good by Nebraska standards.

Why wouldn't the juniors all want to come back? They are building something special here.

They do. But let's go with some facts here. The vast majority of sexual assaults go unreported. The ones that are reported the vast majority go unprosecuted. The ones that are prosecuted the vast majority end in aquital. One only needs to look at the FBI statistics to see this doesn't and up. I thought that this was all worth mentioning since for YEARS any time there is an allegations your go to comment is about false allegations. Go ahead and die on that hill. Mr Shannon may be innocent. He may not. But a bit of caution regarding accolades is warranted.

I'm giving credit to the halftime show. This game was similar to Creighton at the half and the worst halftime show ever produced ended all hope. Tonight was Simon Says and that guy brought the energy we needed.

Or maybe Fred's halftime speech, but I'm going with Simon
