  1. Danny dribbled the ball off his leg out of bounds giving Nebraska the ball for the game winning shot by Beau Reid, who sored "just 2" according to the PA running down the points by player as we filed out. I recall my parents missed the game because of a business trip to Vegas so my grandparents took us.
  2. Nebraska Cornhuskers, leading the nation in off-season champions.
  3. Same. Plus I win the HHC bracket challenge if Purdue wins it all.
  4. This basically sums up how I feel. Most demoralizing Husker loss in any sport for me probably since the football team gave up 70 to Wisconsin in the B1G championship game. Just on the brink of something big, then lay an egg. Volleyball is the exception, but it's not one of the sports I came to love as a child like basketball and football are. This one will bum me out for several days to come. Looking forward to learning what the makeup of next year's roster will be but still have to heal from this one before I can be engaged again.
  5. I highly doubt they had no input under the circumstances. At least asked for the go ahead
  6. He was AD at UNI when they were good at basketball. Two 30 win seasons
  7. In my memory he's hitting baseline jumpers. Probably on a kickout from Hoppen. But I was about 9 years old, so I'm not sure about that.
  8. I don't know what my first game was, but I'm sure it was no later than Dave Hoppen's freshman year. I'm certain our family had season tickets that year, and together with my uncle's family we had nine in a row in section C16, row 22. I kept score along with a cousin who was my age. I distinctly remember the NIT games with the ABA ball and along with Hoppen, my favorite player was Stan Cloudy.
  9. Amen. Remains the only conference tournament I've ever attended. Unless you count the days they played the 1st round on home courts
  10. No but that's much harder to measure. Also, the time is a fixed factor that dictates strategy.
  11. GameDay just had a segment on this topic. I was somewhat surprised that Hoiberg's name wasn't mentioned for any openings. Otzelbeger and Moser were each brought up. I don't think Fred would leave this year since Sam has one more year, but I am surprised he isn't a hot, or at least warm, name. I am pleased by this lack of developments.
  12. Seems intuitive to me that losing by 10 in overtime is better than losing by 10 in regulation. In the former you were one play from winning and in the latter several things would have to be different.
  13. Nebraska 77 Illinois 71 The big margin of victory allowing us to limit minutes tonight will be the difference tomorrow
  14. Runner-up for the B1G Craft/Davison most unlikable POTY. But then again they'll have to change the name soon to add Sandfort's name to the trophy
  15. Well the baseball game starts at 6:05 and I plan to leave about the time the OSU-ILL game ends so a bunch of OTs will let me stay longer
  16. I'll settle for 3 if Ohio St and Illinois match that tomorrow
  17. After a tough day in Huskerville yesterday, seeing Iowa and Creighton both lose tonight made today a little bit brighter
  18. I confess I did forget Chris Logan. I was 11 and my Nebrasketball Fandom began in Hoppen's freshman year. I was devastated by his injury. I also loved keeping score at the games and Logan must not have scored enough to register in my pre-teen brain.
  19. Bernard Day took on much of the scoring after Hoppen's injury. Did a nice job scoring in the post as a very undersized center
  20. I am not upset at Painter being honored. Last I checked, coaches put their teams together and should get credit for meeting expectations with the great players they recruit. Also, Edey wasn't exactly a top recruit. 3 stars and not an overly impressive offer list and Painter developed him into a national player of the year. Sharing the honor with that guy is good company for Fred.
  21. He must really want to be in Chicago. I can't believe he's getting a raise. If he is, where is the money coming from that can compete with SEC cash?
  22. I acknowledge this and my unstated point is that most won't change their resume much. The few that do, should be rewarded. Substantially if appropriate. Two top 10 wins would qualify
  23. You may be right, but it that sounds extremely lazy. Not that hard to make adjustments of a seed line for a handful of teams each day in a case like this. Say Wisconsin or Michigan St lose on Thursday and Nebraska or Northwestern win the B1G tournament...you can't swap the seeds because you were pretty much done? Not just lazy, but negligent. How many games are there Sunday before the announcement? I checked, it's 5. Not very many and plenty of time to make adjustments and if/then decisions before those games are done.
