I have a picture of me looking like that. With the short, shorts with the fake belt! And I was lucky enough to have huge thighs, which helped my football career but didn’t do much for the basketball fashion. Made the shorts even shorter😉

This will be Nebraska's first team in the tournament coached by someone with a Sweet 16 appearance on their resume.

Tickets prices have skyrocketed for our session. I hope that means we’re going to turn Memphis into a PBA home game!

redbolt reacted to throwback in uneblinst's postgame chatter: vol 16; ed 33- Illinois
Wanted to mention how many good minutes Diop gave us - he got really lost on defense only once, but he battled in there overall. And that little baseline jumper was pure. For someone who's played as little as he has, to be on that stage and look like he belonged against Illinois' front line was nice to see. It'll be a big offseason for him developmentally.

The complaints about metrics with margin of victory have decreased ever since we started doling out ass-whoopins this last month

So So happy for Boogie. Dude could have went 1 of 2 ways this year and he chose solid teammate.

William Kyle playing well too. Might be a nice Allieck replacement next year, very athletic.

redbolt reacted to GhostOfJoeMcCray in What should Nebraska's real seed be?
I was actually working on some research over the weekend and this is a great thread to share.
Nebraska Resume Average = 25
2023 Power Conference Teams with similar Resume Average:
Missouri 22.5 - 7 seed
Miami 22.5 - 5 seed
Iowa State 26 - 6 seed
Kentucky 26.5 - 6 seed
TCU 30 - 6 seed
Michigan State 30 - 7 seed
2022 Power Conference Teams with similar Resume Average
Michigan State 24.5 - 7 seed
LSU 25 - 6 seed
USC 26 - 7 seed
North Carolina 26.5 - 8 seed
Texas 29.5 6 seed
Nebraska Predictive Average = 35
2023 Power Conference Teams with similar Predictive Average
Michigan State 33 - 7 seed
Iowa 33.3 - 8 seed
Miami 37 - 5 seed
2022 Power Conference Teams with similar Predictive Average
Indiana 32.7 - 12 seed (had resume average of 52)
Michigan State 33 - 7 seed
Seton Hall 34.3 - 8 seed
USC 37.3 - 7 seed
And for what it's worth, we are 24 in Bart Torvik's overall ranking right now. The teams in that range last year on Selection Sunday were:
22 Texas A&M - 7 seed
23 Auburn - 9 seed
24 Kansas State - 3 seed
25 FAU - 9 seed
26 TCU - 6 seed
27 Virginia - 4 seed
I did not look into these teams nonconference SOS for example, which would hurt us. But in the research I've done, the NCAA official seed list most closely mimics the Strength of Record metric than anything else, and the seed list generally falls much more in line with the Resume Average than the Predictive Average (Resume Average had a differential average of about 3.85 from the official seed, while Predictive Average had a differential average of about 7.74).
And Strength of Record is our best metric. I think people might be surprised where we end up. Our SOR and Resume Average are in the 6-7 range. Even if they punish us more for the non-conference SOS (which the metrics are already supposed to have factored in your strength of opponent), 8-9 right now at worst. 10 is laughable to me, given all the information above. Our numbers are pretty dang good.
Speaking of being 24 in Bart Torvik, in 2023 Kansas State (24 BT, Elite 8)...FAU (25 BT, Final Four)...in 2022, Michigan (27 BT, Sweet 16)...North Carolina (28 BT, Finals)...2021, Arkansas (25 BT, Elite 8)...UCLA (30 BT, Final Four)... OK getting ahead of myself now :)

It was a season that no one thought was possible. And we get a top 4 seed in the B1G tourney and the first win in Huskers' history at Michigan.

redbolt reacted to AuroranHusker in Wilcher
It's Wilcher, Keisei, Brice, & Mast all leading the way. Impressive display of excellent free-throw shooters, especially at crunch time, on this 2023-24 Nebrasketball squad. 👍
Wilcher 31-33 = 93.9%
Keisei 64-72 = 88.9%
Brice 92-109 = 84.4%
Mast 50-60 = 83.3%

The game ended the way it began: with 5 point runs by Minnesota. We didn't score for the first 3 minutes; we didn't score for the last 3 minutes. And in the 34 minutes in between, we outscored Minnesota by 28.

Lawrence was really, really solid today. The one man fast break on a couple of occasions was a thing of beauty to watch. So happy for him that he has really embraced his role off the bench and is thriving.

A team that was similar to us this year was last years Maryland Terrapins.
The Terps were 20-11 at the end of the regular season, 11-9 in conference, but 1-9 on the road and 10-0 at home.
Maryland was not good on the road.
In some of those road games the Terps got beat by 10+.
Maryland also went on to beat WV in the tourney as an 8 seed.
If the Huskers can get one road win, that should be good enough.

Imagine the atmosphere at PBA when the Huskers come into the Northwestern game riding a three game win streak! Danny is in the building, so is the 93-94 team. I heard Henry T a week or two ago. There are former players coming back that haven't been here since their playing days. Don't remember many names, but Tyronn will be here.
