  1. Northwestern's loss to Chicago State often comes up in conversation as a bad loss for them.  Although they have a 12-18 record this year, historically Chicago State is one of the worst basketball programs.  The most significant wins this year before joining the NEC next year:  Morgan State, Stetson, Bethune-Cookman, Valparaiso, University of Texas Rio Grand Valley and FDU.  While researching their website, I found that Scott Spinelli was on their staff starting this season.  He has been out of coaching since leaving Boston College after the 2021 season in which he served for a period as the interim head coach.  Since then he has worked as a television analyst for New England Sports Network, guest analyst on ESPN, Fox Sports and CBS radio.  Big come down for a coach who was highly thought of as a recruiter.

  2. I was living in the Chicago area when Teddy Grubbs and Mark Aquire were playing for DePaul.  Around 1983, Grubbs was having personal problems and quite the team.  The Chicagoland coaches were not happy with the way the Grubbs situation was handled by DePaul and their  recruiting around the Chicago area to a big hit.

  3. I constantly view this board, but seldom post. After this great win, thought I would make a few comments.

        *  We won despite poor shooting from two of our better 3-point shooters

.  Wilcher and Tomiaga were a combined 2 for 12.

        *  Love Gary's game--if he can average 8 - 10 points during Big Ten play, he will be a big asset with his defense and rebounding.

        *  It might be my imagination, but Walker seems to be quicker this year.
