Tom Jones got a reaction from whoopdeedoo in Amiah Hargrove
Here is glimpse of the abilities of next year freshman Amiah Hargrove - from what i think was her last HS game.  Length, strength, speed, and confidence is what I see.

yeah, and take note of her quiet/calm focus/determination in the fourth quarter.  Trailing by nine against a very active defense -  not an ounce of panic or even worry was evident.  Also, when she got robbed on her way to the basket after a steal (I think it was McCabe who fouled her three times on her drive up the lane) .... no CC style antics.  No acting out.  No looks of disbelief - just got up off the floor and went back to work.

IMO, the Huskers did not play as badly as the score late in the 4th quarter might make it seem.  Defense played well enough to win.  There are always lots of factors, but the three that I think stand out are 3) shooting overall, three pt shooting in particular, and 3) blocked shots.  1) yes, the fade aways have seldom worked and AM could have passed off instead of taking some of the desperation shots, but a lot of quality open look shots didn't go.   2)  if three of the misses had gone thru, it's an even game.  3) Some of the blocked shots looked like sure scores ... right up until the block.

The game has become SO physical and the physicality is so inconsistently ignored vs foul called .. so much that teams have to have some players who want to be bangers and to have the mass to back it up  - and really we don't.  Had Mendelson been in the lane today - or against A&M - she would have been a bowling pin.

Loved having Jazz.  Just loved it. Too bad her last two games lacked the sparkle that she had become known for.

I think that, personnel wise, the Huskers will be marginally better next year* and markedly better if Amy can add a banger with some heft and/or a long fast slasher.

    * losing Shelly, Krull, and White while adding Weidner, Prince, and Williams and a year of development for Hake, Potts, and Nissley will be a net gain.

Maybe there will be more emphasis on adding dribble penetration to the offense and cutting down a bit on reliance on the three.

YES!  I made that point a while back but neglected to include it tonight.  If she comes along as quickly as Potts and Nissley, she is another asset.  Seems like a long wait till November.

Cheap shots by both teams in that game.  Officials need to get that under control so someone doesn’t get hurt.  Officials have enabled her complaining by not nipping it in the bud.

Great season and great progress for this program. I’m really proud of them, even if we didn’t get to see our best offensive games this weekend.

Jaz is a Husker legend and more than that, she is an amazing person and role model for future generations. She will be missed, but she laid a solid foundation to continue to build on.

Is there any way fans can ask announcers to please please please .... TELL US WHO THE FOUL IS ON!    A few times late in the game they did, but several times it was "looks like that one is going to go against Nebraska".  Yeah, thanks, we could that from the direction all players are going .... but it's on WHO?

Loved having JS here for all three years.  She has done so much for this team.  Sad to say tho, that I think this was her poorest game at UNL.  Hope for bounce back on Sunday

    Really?

I thought the A&M coach was awful.  They had an athletic and physical team; but schematicaly did nothing to leverage them.  The ex-A&M player turned announcer kept referencing their injuries without referencing our injury.  Amy never panicked and despite an underwhelming 4th quarter, pulled out the win.  This Nebraska coach, who many bash, now has a team, that leverages the entire roster, in the top 32 in the entire country.   A team that is now in the top 10% in the country.  A team that had, arguably, it's best player in foul trouble within the first 3 minutes, yet prevailed.

I'm really, really unsure what people want or see when the see this Husker team compete.  But for me, I see a few exceptional players typically perform at a high level, and I see role players who work hard plugging gaps and oftentimes excel when asked.

Yeah, sure a wart here or there; but what coach doesn't have a few of those blind spots.  Count me in the group that is happy she has been extended.

She, with her players in tow, takes whining to a new level!   To win that tournament under the present format EVERY winner had to play three in a row.  I don't recall ANY other coach whining about it.

If any of this Scoggin mess does come back on Amy I would think the university has in place on her contract a clause for such a event.

Conferences determine a champion throughout a long and difficult season.  The cream rises to the top and the best team wins.  Why is there then a need for a conference tournament?  Likely one reason $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!

Iowa plays a style that will attract scorers. Like it or not that staff also develops players.
