Went to the coliseum for my 6th grade  birthday, thanks mom and dad.  I bought season tickets in the 70's and had them till my kids were in junior high and we had to many activities to go to, then bought tickets again for the last year in devaney and have had them since.

twinswingohuskers got a reaction from tcp in Tim Miles out as Nebraska Basketball coach
We have been through quite a few coaches in the past, but Miles has been as well liked as any of them.  He represented the university and the state very well.   He also seems to be very well liked by his staff and players.   I know that there have been some transfers, but as we have talked before, probably no more than anywhere else.   I do know that he was well loved by many
fans.  I would like to think that the fans and media would be as classy to Miles as he was to us.   Good Luck and Thank You Coach Miles.

I guess a lot of us have been through the next big hire at basketball coach, that is going to take us to the top.    It seems as though every 7 years or so we go through the same thing, and maybe some of us are thinking that at Nebraska in basketball anyway 7 years isn't long enough to make the recruiting contacts as well as get the right assistant coaches.  I'm not saying Miles is the answer, but it seems all we do is rinse and repeat with basketball..

With regard to Collier, I don't think it was a case if not going after them, but rather, that they weren't interested.   Self was the "next big hire" then,  and we went after him hard.   With Doc we were obviously limited due to the August timing.  But prior to that, Pedey was going hard at Majerus.

twinswingohuskers reacted to hhcscott in Coaches that you think should be on Nebraska's list, if this trend continues
A long time ago, I used to watch every game and soak up every word the talking heads said, every point, all the analysis, all their expert opinions, all their insider insights, all their unnamed sources. Then the play, the game, the season, the career would happen and even if that talking head knew all the right people, all the right tactical and strategic details, even if they were the best informed SOB (scholar of basketball) they had (charitably) a 25% chance of being right.

So I now understand that "knowing" and "actually happening" are not the same thing. If you see someone on this board with 10,000 posts (or HHC in their screen name) understand that we have listened to 20,000 posts from guys who "know a guy" or "saw the next coach at Valentino's" or "have the inside dirt"
Charitably, <5% of those have been right, so it's not personal. If you KNOW and want to share, great, when your prediction comes to pass, you will be vindicated  but if you want to stifle disagreement by citing your unnamed sources then the bulletin board world isn't your best platform and you should start a blog.

I just hope the next coach, whoever it is, works as hard through adversity as Tim Miles does.

The writing has been on the wall for awhile.  It would have been easy to just cash in his chips and phone it in the last few games of the season.

Thomas Allen is out with injury; Nana Akenten chooses to repeatedly violate team rules and you're forced to suspend him; you're down half a dozen players across the season and now you're down to 8 players available, including just three of the original starters and three other guys who weren't even rotation guys.

And yet he's still arguing with the refs in the Iowa game and doing whatever they can to gameplan for Rutgers.

We might get smoked by Maryland today, but it won't be because Miles and the staff quit on the team or on the season.

He has a lot more character than a lot of the guys who are calling for his head.

Perhaps many of us have not explained ourselves effectively.  Am I blindly loyal!?  Yes, but I am loyal to the university, and to Husker basketball.  Coach Miles currently leads his team, and this university.  I will loyally support him and this team.  If and when Coach Miles moves on, I will then be loyal to the same university and team; it will just be led by a different individual.  You and some others seem focused on quitting on this team and this coach prior to the end of the season.  Others tend to believe that we can still be relevant despite the seven game losing streak and the absence of one of our top four players.

Yes. And Doc was trashed mercilessly by trolls on this very board who wanted to dance on Doc's (er Kenneth's) proverbial casket on his way out the door, because firing him wasn't enough. No, this was personal. Doc had failed to advance this program into an NCAA tournament team and for that he needed to be ridiculed, mocked, and verbally assaulted, not merely relieved of his duties and sent packing.

And for the love of all things holy, the university gave him a RAISE.  A RAISE FOR PETE'S SAKE. TO SOMETHING LESS THAN A MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR. So then his buyout was almost half of what Scott Frost gets paid in a year. How could the university possibly be expected to foot that bill? Oh, the insult to humanity that Doc Sadler got a raise to less than half of what we're paying Tim Miles for the same job.

I hope some of you people are ashamed of how you acted when Doc got fired.

And I further hope you learned something from that experience and don't repeat that assholery if and when Miles leaves.
