Number is obviously fluid right now.

We have one open spot for sure.   Two if you don't renew Borchardt's scholarship.   That doesn't consider Copeland or Palmer not returning or any other attrition.   And I can all but guarantee that we will lose at least one more player based on the law of averages and our past.

Easy answer is that you want one who can do it all.   If you can't find that, you'd want one who is very good at one or the other.   I'd personally rather have someone who can score around the rim, but if you can't find an elite scorer, find an elite defender and rebounder.

About 3-4 other bigs who averaged double figures are grad transferring.
Need to land one legit (and by legit, I mean good, not Moses or Duby who we talk ourselves into) who can play right away

As a high school teacher for the past 19 years, I've come to the conclusion high school kids don't really know much at all.

Wish we'd hear from some frontcourt players who have heard from us.

I use to work with two former Creighton players. My boss was one. He is a great guy but made me hate Creighton.

I got in to a verbal fight with my non boss after the tourney game a few years back when the guy started running his mouth about Miles.

I grew up in MN went to school in Lincoln and from day one people from Omaha sort of rubbed me the wrong way... this sense of I am better than you and it only gets worse when they went to Creighton.

Once I moved to Omaha for a few years it got better and I loved a lot of the people but some just come off pompous.

Same group that at a cocktail party say,"Nebraska has a basketball team?' hahahahahahaha

And I dream about punching them so hard my hand meets the back of their head from the front.  But for my wife's sake, and job sometimes, I smile and say " Yes, and they are having a good year."  and then i add you boring piece of... in my head.

NEW YORK -- The BIG EAST Conference today released a series of recommendations aimed at reforming the recruiting process in men’s college basketball and restructuring the pathway for elite men’s basketball players in the United States.  The recommendations are in response to the charge issued by the NCAA to the Commission on College Basketball in October 2017 and the request by the NCAA for feedback on the charge from its membership.

“The journey of men’s basketball players as they move from youth basketball, to high school and/or travel teams, to college basketball, and then to the pros is ripe for overhaul,” said BIG EAST Commissioner Val Ackerman.  “Our recommendations are designed to help improve the pathway for these young men as they pursue their dreams and to solidify the future of a great sport that, as March Madness always shows, is embraced passionately by universities and fans around the country.”

The BIG EAST recommendations were developed under the leadership of an internal working group made up of Conference athletics directors, men’s basketball coaches and Conference Office staff.  Lee Reed, Georgetown University Director of Athletics and working group chair, said:  “All ten BIG EAST institutions have the highest commitment to men’s basketball, and we want to provide the best possible avenue for players to achieve their personal and professional goals.  We believe our recommendations can help minimize undue influences in the college game, restore integrity to the recruiting process and improve the overall management of key oversight and enforcement functions.”

    The recommendations include the following:

    ·       Modification of the NBA draft rule.  The NCAA should urge the NBA and National Basketball Players Association to create a “none or two” draft eligibility rule to afford elite players greater flexibility to explore their professional options directly out of high school.  Players electing to enroll in an NCAA institution would become eligible for the NBA draft following their second NCAA season.

    ·       New summer recruiting model.  The new model should launch in the summer of 2019 and allow for centralized control and efficient evaluation of pre-collegiate prospects.

    ·       Modified apparel company relationships with universities.   Apparel company contracts should require that income for coaches and administrators be paid through the university rather by apparel companies directly.  The NCAA should also mandate specific disclosures from apparel companies before they can enter into contracts with NCAA institutions.

    ·       Regulated role for advisors and agents.   The NCAA should allow basketball student-athletes to retain the services of certified agents and advisors in a regulated framework to provide advice about their futures and guide them in their decisions about whether to enter the NBA draft.

    ·       Beefed up enforcement resources (or an independent enforcement agency modeled after USADA) and more significant penalties for egregious rule violations.  The NCAA should also promote more aggressively the importance of ethical conduct as a core value.

    ·       Collaboration with USA Basketball, the sport’s national governing body, to improve the organizational structure and standards for pre-collegiate, non-scholastic basketball.

    ·       Elite Player Unit within the NCAA to focus on the areas highlighted by the Commission’s charge.  The new management unit should provide oversight of recruiting, agents and advisors, apparel company relationships, ethical conduct and branding strategies.

    Excellent coach
A friend of the family had a kid play for him before he left so saw them often
Rock valley college is near me
actually 1 of my kids is in the aviation maintenance program there as we speak.
I'm pretty sure their women's team just won a championship this year too.
I think the softball team has won it like the last 4 or 5 hrs in a row

I do like him, he’s charismatic, funny, hard worker, but he has failed to achieve what he was brought here to do, win.

Are we paying someone 2 million a year to be a .500 coach?  Sub .500 in conference who struggles to keep both transfers and high school players.

Being funny and charasmatic does mean squat if you can draw up a good play after a timeout. So yes, I personally like him.  You can like someone and not think they are good at the current job they are in.

If I was the guys, I would declare if I was Glynn, Roby, Palmer, and Copeland with those rules.  No reason not to at least go, get evaluated, and get some eyes on ya.

That's cool. Must have had a bunch of Nebrasketball fans hitting 'em up. It wasn't on the 11 o'clock SportsCenter (i.e. midnight eastern).

Also could you hear the bench saying who is the big white kid who is killing us?  Does anybody have anything on this kid?  Did we even see him on film?
Crap I got nothing!  Who is this guy?

I am not convinced the warm ups had much (if) anything to do with how we were not attempting to penetrate the zone, or that we were not hitting an isolated big man under the basket or missing free throws, or missing open looks.  This topic was breached in another topic earlier this week.  We have three stages of warm ups.  The one the fans see as they filter to their seats, is the last of the three, and it is simply leveraged to stay loose.  I would not put any stock in how the team looks or acts in that time snippet.

For those not here (can't blame you), this game is one where the lid on the basket was sealed with gorilla glue, and we found a way to win (?) Due to the incredible play of a scrappy bench player (borchardt)

Proud of Tanner making use of that scholarship.

As for him getting Jordy or Duby's minutes in B1G play, no.  It's important to remember how much those guys alter shots inside with their size (Jordy) and athleticism (Duby).  That said, Tanner is plugging away and showing progress.  I'm not as pessimistic about his ceiling as some.  He was a D1 scholarship athlete before he was a basketball player, so I don't think that should be taken lightly.

I sat next to Papa Gordon tonight, and we both agree that it's the damn hippity-hop music that distracts the boys during warmups, throwing them off for the rest of the night. Oh, and the tattoos. Always the tattoos.

What’s with the expressions of bitterness on this board by fans of the school in Eastern Omaha toward the Huskers?
Perhaps it’s because Nebrasketball is making progress.  After all:
—We have 9 wins by Christmas Day.
—One of our losses is an away game against a top 5 team.
—Two losses are to top 25 teams in away games—one of which could easily have gone the other way.
—One loss is a one-pointer at home to Kansas.
—We have only one other loss—and it’s not a bad one.
—Players are progressing well, and the team is getting better quickly
If the Huskers can stay healthy, this will be an excellent year!
