Nicea gets caught in that fog on occasion too lol. But it's definitely nice to see that she's playing so consistently on both ends of the floor. Her basketball IQ is actually really high. It was very frustrating at times when she played high school ball bc her teammates just didn't have the skill to see the game like she did. So it's nice that she's playing with girls who are on her level. She anticipates plays freaky well - weather it's for a steal; or making an assist. I've been talking to her alot and I've really been telling her be more aggressive on offense. She tends to over-pass and become complacent with the ball at times. She's very humble and doesn't realize how good she can be. If we can get Allie, Jasmine and/or Nicea to average double figures with Jess we could win some games. That and cut down on turnovers!! I'll definitely let her know! I'm sure most of the girls on the team aren't used to losing so I know it's frustrating, but they're young and I agree it will pay off. @Huskercode, I've watched a few practices and Bria is actually a really good ball handler. Small very quick guard. Similar to Mi'cole last night. So she'll definitely help...I agree with almost all of what you guys have said. Though I refrain from posting my own opinions since Nicea is my daughter. One thing I do appreciate is that even when there's criticism of the girls it's not coming from a negative place, it's said in a constructive manor..although I will say free throws and turnovers are our biggest weaknesses right now. Playing against such good teams you've got to play your best ball, so capitalizing on every opportunity (FT's) and not giving the opposition points (T.O.'s) are a must to even be in those games. Thanks so much, Chuck! Again, it's so nice - and pretty cool - hearing so many good things about Nicea! It just reassures us that we raised a good kid. She was telling me last night how much she loves Lincoln. Her words exactly were, "I love it here. There's nothing 'wrong' about Lincoln." Lol. She's (as are we) just so thankful for the team, the school and the people who've shown so much support so far. It's still early, but I'm really excited to see her get better on the court. Love hearing good things about her, so thanks so much HUD! Tough loss last night. When Nicea was growing up paying basketball I always taught her to be 'good' at everything not great at just one thing. She really works hard at doing that. I told her I'd like to see her be more aggressive on offense, but it's always taken her a little time to get comfortable. Hopefully the team doesn't continue to struggle putting the ball in the basket, because they do have alot of talent on the roster. It's still early, but they're all gonna have to grow up fast because we know B1G conference schedule is fast approaching. That's pretty cool. Gotta find ways to stay 1 step ahead of the competition. It's amazing how far strength & conditioning have come in sports. I know our girls are working hard this summer too.
