Oh I didn't say I agree with it; was just saying it wasn't necessarily a bad idea to make a team prove they're going to be able knock down 3's consistently through an entire game. There's a reason Jim Boheim is one of the best coaches in college basketball. But in our case, after Creighton showed our zone wasn't phasing them we should've came out of it and never gone back to it! Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

The zone (imo) wasn't necessarily a bad idea to start because you're daring a team to beat you from the perimeter (3's). Creighton was well-prepared. They moved the ball very well giving them a bunch of wide open looks. A bunch came from the corners/baseline bc our bigs were just too slow to close out there. I didn't understand either why we STAYED in the zone though. Especially after we made that run in the 4th to cut the lead to 4. We come out of a timeout in zone and they hit back-to-back 3's. Imo that was the time to match and challenge every girl to lock their girl down. We needed to keep that momentum going! Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

Agree! I don't want it to be misinterpreted that I'm taking bad about program at all. I love those girls and the coaches. I feel like this year's team could make it to the tourney again. But if we need to fix these issues early bc we will get exposed in B1G play. I just feel like we're not playing up to our potential - and it starts with effort and intensity. 7-22, 21-11, 14-16 (42-49). I'm definitely not down on the girls. I rarely post anything at all bc I'm not "that" kind of parent. The main reason I'm even posting is because I agree that we have the talent to win 20 games, but were not playing up to our potential, and its very frustrating at times. Yup, exactly. We haven't beaten them in the 4 years "we've" been there. I was really hoping we'd get this one. The girls just never seem to be up for the challenge. I'm not really sure what our identity is: are we a transition team; do we score inside/out; are we a perimeter team (bc we do have really good guards); we're obviously not a hard nosed team that's just gonna outwork you. I just want us to do something really well. And then if that doesn't work you adjust accordingly. We're just "ok" at a lot of things which gets us by for lesser talented teams; but it's also why we always hover around a .500 record every year. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

I agree. I'm not expecting Uconn or Notre Dame level defense. But effort and pride is where defense starts and we just don't have that. We don't get down and work hard. We don't get on the floor for loose balls. Are hands are always down (hence teams kill us from the 3 point line). It's just really frustrating to watch. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

Yeah defense and intensity are 2 things tat have always been lacking. There's just no pride in getting down and out working our opponents. I've been hoping one of our coaches would take the responsibility to make this part of our identity. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

Meh. It's waxing and waning. Definitely not the intensity she's had for Southern and Southern Illinois. My gripe over the past 4 years has always been about the girls' intensity though. Not sure if it's coaching or what, but they never play as hard/intense as I'd like them to. Rarely get on the floor or out-rebound our opponents...fortunately Creighton isn't very good right now. I officiate high school and college bball here in Colorado Springs and I had 3 of her games last season. She's a pretty good player. Knowing that Nebraska has offered her I'll probably pay more attention to her this season. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

Man our defense is pretty bad. On-ball defense allows straight drives to the basket; and help-side is slow to rotate. We also give up a ton of 3's (to all teams) because they're not disciplined enough to see ball and the girl they're guarding. It's very frustrating to watch. We're not a consistent high scoring team so we've got to play harder, smarter and tougher on defense, bc it would create a lot more transition offense. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

I agree that there seems to be a lack of caring and/or wanting to win (not bad enough at least). The defensive intensity isn't there; turnovers galore; we're getting out-hustled on all loose and 50/50 balls; rebounding is awful - we're giving up way too many second chance points and not giving ourselves the same opportunities. There just seems to be a lack of energy and intensity as a whole out there. Honestly, I'm really disappointed in our upper clsssmen's play thus far. Nicea, Maddie and Hannah should be the examples, but currently the freshman are the ones coming into the game with some hunger.
