  1. Attended the game as I usually do when it's the last reg. season home game. Really like catching the senior ceremonies, will miss them when the season is complete. A solid W that we needed to keep at least even with MSU. A W next Sunday secures that 4th seed as everyone knows. An odd 8-day gap between this one and the game v. the Illini. Should help us rest and heal a little though I always worry that we will come out a little rusty after a gap between games (even though we have played a full season basically). A little sloppy today at moments, but never really in doubt who was coming out on top IMHO. I like how we shared the ball and moved it around while the zone created difficulties. NU will need the best version of themselves and be road warriors to come out on top. GBR!!
  2. Really solid team W tonight. Nissley was a key contributor, along w/ Alexis, in the first half. Potts and Stewart made big contributions in the 2nd half, allowing AM to get some rest. That's the kind of efforts we need to be a really good well-rounded team, needless to say. Next is Minny, who has been struggling as of late; lost at home to UW earlier tonight. Need to get the split with them and keep adding up the W's so we can clinch that 4th seed in the conf. GBR!!
  3. A rather meh 2nd Q after a really nice 1st Q overall. Kind of just rode the coattails of the 1st Q momentum it seems. I'm sure Coach W will get after them and hopefully we will see better execution going forward.
  4. Another short turnaround for NU after playing on Sat. For sure we want a really good effort and execution tonight. Certainly don't want to see what happened against Rutgers. A nice "butt whooping" would be satisfying. That would probably help continue to build team confidence also. GBR!!
  5. GBR!! Alexis was a beast! Wonder when the last time a women's player had 20+ for pts. and rb's. The fight she shows on the court (not meaning the incidental punch) shows true leadership folks! A bigger victory point wise and a better game after a slow start against PU than our home W. Couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. Keep it going gals!
  6. Would be kind of a coup if we can pull this game out, going back on the road after a quick turnaround. Hopefully they will continue to pick things up. Would be a 4th conf. road W by my count if we can get it. GBR!
  7. Indeed, OSU is maybe the best there is at putting on pressure, but NU is about as bad as anyone I can recall seeing at handling it! Yes, the difference in athleticism is also the cause of that, but the program needs to learn how to handle pressure better in all games (particularly the full court). This game turned out about as bad as I had feared. However, NU hopefully picks up the pieces and goes on a really nice run of W's going into the Conf. tournament! There certainly is no one of the caliber of OSU- or even Iowa- left on the schedule, so it can be done. GBR!!
  8. Yes, this is a valid point. I was thinking this too. Circumstances make this game really tough! But I think the women will show up with the right mindset at least. GBR!!
  9. Oh, and one final word to CC: PBA 'ain't' your house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GBR!
  10. Or, how about BOTH!!!! INCREDIBLE!!!!!!! Needless to say, great win for the program and for the season! Our fight was just incredible. Way to go NU women!!! Now let's build on this with some more wins and a sure bid to the NCAA's! GO BIG RED!!!!!
  11. Our shooting % picked up a little as the game went on. Certainly had some bad offensive possessions in the 1st Q. This was about the place the game was when we played them in Iowa City. Iowa ended up winning by 19, so we'll see what happens. The energy certainly is in PBA, in the stands and on the court. Hopefully we can have plenty of it in the 2nd half. GBR!
  12. If that had to be the deal, I'd certainly take it. Most importantly, I think the program would too.
  13. Needless to say, we really need to get one on the road now after the Rutgers loss. Would've liked our chances tonight better before Sat.'s results obviously, which as Red Don pointed out includes UM's road W vs. PSU. I'll use the fan cliche of "urgency and redemption" needed for the NU women tonight. I trust they still believe in themselves and what they can accomplish as a basketball team this season. Still enough games left to accomplish big things. (t starts tonight. We'll see what happens. GBR!!!
  14. barring an awesome run the rest of the way, may end up in the WNIT again.
  15. Well, we just made it that much more difficult to finish high in the standings. No other way to put it, it just wasn't a good enough effort, esp. at home, on either side of the floor to get the W. We always fight to the end, but the shots just did not fall. The way RU was shooting, they seemed destined to get this. All us fans can do is see how the NU women bounce back the rest of the way. Definitely discouraging to say the least. GBR!!
  16. Indeed RU is playing like the team that is at least 6-4 in the league. NU is of course shooting poorly, which is causing them to play a little panicked on offense. It will take a not so small miracle to pull this out and stop this from being a bad conf. loss. Pretty much everything going right for RU.
  17. Good job by the ladies to take care of business and get a needed W at home. Not flashy, but it was a physical game with a lot of scrappy defense by both sides. The Huskers were hustling and really playing hard. Alexis was big in the 1st half with her points in the paint, and we got key contributions from White and Potts particularly to help balance things out. Next up another home "must have" vs. RU on Sat. with a short turnaround. They are winless in conf. play at the moment, and we don't want to be their first, esp. since we are at home. We'll have to be tough, scrappy and determined again. GBR!!
  18. Kind of looking at the remaining schedule for the 2nd half of the B1G season (yeah, I know that's a sketchy thing to do). I think there are definitely "winnable" games moving forward (vs. teams that I think we match up equally to or better than). The exceptions I would say are Iowa and at OSU. Michigan on the road certainly will be challenging too. If the ladies keep working hard, trying to improve and believing, maybe we could get 7 out of 9 down the stretch. That would get us to a 12-6 conf. record, which might be good enough to finish 4th and playing on Friday in the tournament. If nothing else I would like us to finish in the top 6 and playing a low seed on Thursday. I think the scenarios I described are realistic. Anything lower than a 6th place finish and I would be disappointed, considering who is on the remaining schedule. I realize anything can happen- as the saying goes on any given day... Maybe we win one from either Iowa or OSU too. Always rooting for the most success possible! GBR!!
  19. Yeah, I definitely expect a tough game as well. Would be a great road W if we can get it! It would help us keep pace to be near the top. A loss wouldn't surprise me however. Gotta play that tough gritty game, esp. on D, to have a chance. GBR!!
  20. After a good start we struggled offensively as IU became more aggressive on D. This is not a game you want to lose in terms of the standings, esp. being at home, so hopefully we can execute better in the 2nd half and hit shots like we started out. Also need to continue to be aggressive on D. GBR!
  21. Really glad to get the W on the road and get off to a 3-0 conf. start. Wins on the road don't come easy against anyone. We didn't seem to have the same sense of urgency as UW until about 5 min or so left in the 4th Q. Again we see Potts step up and saw hustle from her and Hake as well as White down the stretch. Fortunate to have that T called on them to help us pull away a little. Quite a bit that can be pointed out as critique but don't want to bore people with endless words. Hopefully we will execute better on Sunday as obviously we will need to. GBR!!
  22. Quality win against a formidable conf. opponent! Need to protect home court, of course- esp. if you want to make a run at a top 4 conf. finish. Great that we hit our free throws down the stretch to hold UM off. Vote Potts for another B1G FPOTW!! GBR!!
  23. One could say a lot of things to express the pure joy and excitement of seeing this news on X (or Twitter). As Auroran just posted this is incredible news!! Thank you Britt Prince and GOOOOOOO BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG REDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!! GO BIG RED!!
  24. Yep, needless to say, great news indeed! Jaz thanks for returning and for your commitment to the Husker program!! I confirm and agree with the above comment. Jaz is one less piece we need to add for next season, but we know of course there are still others to fill to get to a better place for next season. Interested to follow what will happen. GBR!
