And that's where we are in this rebuild. In Fred's first three years, we had a smidgen of inexperienced basketball talent and low- to mid-level athleticism. Last year and this, we added experience and basketball talent. For next year, we need to add more athleticism without sacrificing basketball IQ and experience.
 
That's a tough needle to thread at a place like Nebraska.

What is tough, is that you lose players that you thoroughly and unabashedly loved watching.  We have lost players in the not so distant past that left little or no void.  Losing this group hurts my ❤️ 

This was me last night, and it still is me today. I hurt more for the players than myself, especially the seniors. I do think Fred will bring in more qualified players to replace those we lose like last year. But I expect to an even better extent. Will that translate to the dance again? I dunno. 
 
Norm spotted me outside the arena and gave a huge high five. Then several hundred, probably closer to a couple thousand, Husker fans started cheering HUS-KER POW-ER before they let us in. I told Norm something along the lines of “if today isn’t the day, then when is?”  It felt like it was going to happen. From being favored by Vegas, to Husker fans showing out, to having a “team”…it felt like the wait was over. When Keisei hit those first three and then Reink hit a deep one…I just didn’t think TAMU could keep up with us.  
 
I feel so terrible for the seniors, the whole team, Kent, Shamus, Pat, and fans who have waited for so long like HB, Jimmy, Cip…I just think this will sting until the ball tips again. Just hoping our schedule is strong enough or weak enough to not have an uphill climb to the tournament. I know the team will be talented enough, but what does that mean? This drought has to end soon. That’s all I have to say guys.
 
From a sports perspective, this is awful. But we’re not too far from Kansas City, and that means we’re just a few hours from hugging our kids and kissing their foreheads and telling them we love them. And that will do for another day. GBR always. 

Some of the most fun I've had as a fan.  No reason this team can't make the tournament on a consistent basis.  The program is only at the first step.  Winning one tournament game isn't the end all.  Consistently make the tournament and it will come.

I might be the only one left who still thinks it could’ve been a good matchup for us. Yeah they’re more athletic than we are. But so was K-State and many other teams we beat this year. 
 
A&M averages 6 made threes per game. In the first 10 minutes of the game last night they went 6-7 from three. We were still winning at that time but from there the lane started to open up for them. They kept making threes so we couldn’t take anything away at that point. If they shot just a respectable 35% from the arc (much better than their average) and we make 5 of the 7 or 8 essentially uncontested layups that we missed, we win the game. A&M earned the win, no doubt. I’m gonna be real pissed when they come out and miss their first 7 threes tomorrow.

I said in the game thread that the team quit.  That wasn't the case.  The effort was there.  I think we had a game plan to start to let them chuck up 3's.  Once they started hitting.  We had no answer.  If we got up on them, they would drive by us.  If we backed off them, they would nail 30 footers.
 
We needed the Texas A&M team who lost to Vandy.  And, the Nebraska team who beat Purdue.  Instead we got the Texas A&M team who beat Iowa State.  And, the Nebraska team who lost to Creighton. 

Still the most wins in a season for this program since before many of you were born.
 
I'm disappointed. Demoralized. It was embarrassing. The aTm fans were jerks. All of those things.
 
But the sun came up this morning. I have a tee time. And my guys were still the best team we've put out there in close to 3 decades.
 
So, I'm keeping my season tickets and I'll see you all at the vault next fall.

I was at the game and didn’t see this at all. Effort was not the reason we lost. Allick was all over the place. I think we just went into the game trying to keep them from driving which left open the 3 ball and our coaches and players sure as heck weren’t planning on them draining 3s like they did. Just a tough night. Had no answers.

So you are putting this on him? He scored 21pts. Every team’s best defender was on him. He was grabbed and pulled in every game. Defensively he improved every season. He wasn’t an elite defender, however he was average. His scoring more than offset any defensive deficiencies. 
It will be very difficult to replace him. Best pure shooter since Pike.

I think our staff tipped their hands earlier this week by spending locker room time talking about not resting on laurels way too much. This was a vibe that the staff was worried about. I think they were happy with defeating the predictions about themselves prior to the season and that seemed to be their dominant motiviation, and when they proved they weren't 13th place, they closed up shop. They're not the first team to do that. It happens in this tourney to underdogs pretty frequently after upsets. 
 
A&M came into this tourney hungry. I could see it in Buzz' presser. I just never saw that from our guys.

Hey, we got beat.  Not much more to say.  We are 0-8, I am 72 but hope will spring eternal that we find some jewels in the portal and try again next year.
 
I believe the Aggies will battle Houston on Sunday.

In short, they're being the better version of themselves, we're definitely not. For me, my wrath is only reserved for lack of effort, and I can't determine that from score scrolls.....so....
