No.   I watch and absolutely can't see it at all.  What is obvious is he's a small guy who can't finish at the rim and is a streaky shooter at best who can't make free throws.   That guy doesn't get drafted.    He would have to dramatically improve his shot to sniff being drafted.   Shooting is part of "physical ability".   You could see it the first game he played here.

Cant see it at all? His court vision, passing ability, and quickness are pretty damn close to being NBA caliber.

Yes, he is lacking size and shooting. But if he had both of those hes a lottery pick and he'd be completing his sophomore campaign in the NBA not in college lol.

If he chooses to put in the work he has the skill set, ability, and resources to become that type of player.

Guys I would keep for next year if they're willing to stay:

    • Yvan as a backup big project
    • Thor as a backup guard (maybe 10 minutes a game)
    • Burke as a backup guard (maybe 10 minutes a game)
    • Arop as a bench and practice player with the promise that he could develop further
    • Easley as a walk-on bench and practice player
    • Piatkowski as a walk-on bench and practice player
    • Porter as a walk-on bench and practice player

We already have six rotation guys sitting out/coming in:

    • Banton
    • King
    • Allen
    • Stevenson
    • Walker
    • Mayen

    Say goodbye to:

    • Mack (wherever someone wants him)
    • Green (Metro State in Denver would be a good fit)
    • Cross (Arkansas State or another Sun Belt-type program)

    Find:

    • A ball-handler
    • A shooter
    • A big

Right now, I think Cam Mack would be the only player on the current roster that would start next year. I think Dachon Burke, Thorir Thorbjarnarson, and Yvan Ouedraogo could all be 10-20 MPG rotation guys.

Not that the others cant develop, but as of right now I dont see them being in the conversation for playing time.

Ps i am also hoping Akol Arop sticks around atleast for another year.

I don't necessarily like the 'difficulty' that comes along with Mack but I don't really understand where people are cutting bait with him now given that this is no new development.

Typically the most visible adjustment from Juco to D-1 is play on the court.  For Mack, it appears to be off the court. FWIW it's not in the classroom. The guy who everyone thinks is going to drop out of school to go pro made the honor roll. It's not so much about effort with Mack as it's just him wanting to do what he wants to do it seems.

At some point the amount of talent you have is not enough for people to put up with certain levels of crap and he has breached those levels multiple times this year. I very much don't think he's broken the dam though.  He absolutely needs to declare for the NBA and see if any teams will work him out so that maybe he appreciates the sort of professionalism that is expected of him is important for his future and not some sort of childish game to play.

Would like more than once if i could lol

i personally don't see anyone with any more potential than the 3 close calls we just had, and nobody on the active roster now is even close.

the thing about the B1G is that the top half teams all seem to have 1 or 2 marginal NBA talents plus a G-league or 2 candidate.

To be fair, Palmer and Cope were both 5 year guys so they were a much more finished product.

I could see Dalano Banton/Teddy Allen both being equal to or better than James Palmer/Isaac Copeland by the end of their careers.

Mack could be a second rounder next year if he keeps his head on straight and goes to work. I believe the staff or someone close to the program has stated Banton has first round potential. And Teddy Allen gets buckets and will atleast find his way onto a summer league team or G-League team post college... again, if he can keep his head on straight.

Our roster if everyone returns and recruits stay committed :

    C - Heimann Soph.

    PF - Roby Sr.

    SF - Green Jr.

    SG - Allen Jr.

    PG Burke Jr.

    Bench

    Harris Soph.

    Nana Jr.

    Adams - Woods Fr.

    Thoir Jr.

    Trueblood Sr.

    Costello Soph.

I don't think Roby, Allen, and Nana were staying.  If they do stay, we would be more competitive.  We have an NBA player (granted he's played 10 minutes in 3 games this year).  We have a shooter in Allen.  We have slashers in Harris and Burke.  We still wouldn't have enough down low to handle teams.  I might have left a recruit out as that means we have 9 scholarships.

You left of Karrington Davis and Akol Arop

Yeah but that's weird to predict he won't get the waiver (which by all accounts is actually very likely to happen and both he and the coaches feel confident he'll get it), but then predict Cross and Green will transfer.

I think what hhcmatt is getting at is it's a total shot in the dark guessing that Cross and Green will transfer, but there is actual historical evidence and some sort of positive indication that Kobe King will be eligible to play next year.

Just my two cents, not that anyone asked.

Im sure Kobe King has a great case and the staff believes he does too. But they don't make the call, the NCAA does. And I have no reason to believe they will make the right call as they are very inconsistent and idiotic at times with their rulings. Hoiberg and Co. thought Shamiel Stevenson (i know they are different cicrcumstances) had a good case too and that didnt get approved. So I wont hold my breath. That is my reasoning behind my prediction and I dont think there is anything weird about it.

It's odd you're predicting two guys to transfer but not whether or not a guy gets a waiver

Wouldnt listing him as a RS and me stating I was using the term RS and sitout interchangeably imply i dont think he gets the waiver...

Technically our roster for next year is:

    Dachon Burke 6'4 Sr G

    Thorir Thorbjarnarson 6'6 Sr G

    Jervay Green  6'3 Sr G

    Cam Mack 6'2 Jr G

    Derrick Walker 6'8 Jr F

    Lat Mayen 6'9 Jr F

    Shamiel Stevenson 6'6 Jr F

    Teddy Allen 6'5 Jr G/F

    Kobe King 6'4 Jr G

    Kevin Cross  6'8 So F

    Akol Arop 6'6 So F

    Charlie Easley 6'2 So G

    Dalano Banton 6'8 So G/F

    Yvan Ouedraogo 6'9 So F

    Jace Piatkowski 6'4 RS-FR G

    Bret Porter 6'6 RS-FR F

    Obviously attrition can happen.

This is a thread based on predictions. That was my prediction of the roster next year (scholarship players only). Sorry if that wasnt clear.

  9. This is our roster next year:

    Dachon Burke 6'4 Sr G

    Thorir Thorbjarnarson 6'6 Sr G

    Cam Mack 6'2 Jr G

    Derrick Walker 6'8 Jr F

    Lat Mayen 6'9 Jr F

    Shamiel Stevenson 6'6 Jr F

    Teddy Allen 6'5 Jr G/F

    Akol Arop 6'6 So F

    Charlie Easley 6'2 So G

    Dalano Banton 6'8 So G/F

    Yvan Ouedraogo 6'9 So F

    REDSHIRTING

    Kobe King 6'4 RJr G

    *Insert another RS transfer*

  10. I think basketball will be vastly improved next year. They will be NIT for sure with a chance to go dancing.

I consider myself a realist but if we keep Cam Mack, and Dalano Banton and Teddy Allen are close to as talented as advertised we will be money. Thats not even considering the growth of returning players or what Stevenson, Walker, and/or Mayen will provide.

Now obviously thats a lot of "ifs" and there will be some let downs from individual players, but i like how next season is beginning to look.

Correct.  The only one I think might prove me wrong is Walker because I haven’t see him play, but I think Mayen is going to be a really nice player for us and Banton could be extremely special if he can guard the 4 and stay on the court with Cam.  Mayen is a good rebounder at 6’9”, can shoot 3s, and is 80% at the line.  I’m sick and tired of seeing front court offensive liabilities in this program.

Agree. I have Cross out and Walker in.

    Let the off-season play out.

Totally being an asshole on purpose here (so dont take me seriously). But then lets not make any predictions at the beginning of seasons or before games either... JUST LET THEM PLAY OUT!!!

This is a thread based solely on predictions and guesses. Let us who choose to partake in it have our fun!!!

    - Dachon Burke OR Jervay Green

At first thought I want to say Jervay Green bc our need for a backup PG is greater than our need for another wing. But as I think it through, I have no doubt Dalano Banton is more than capable of running the point and would be the one to do so if Mack went down. Which makes me lean towards Burke.

  14. Okay im ready to talk...

    STARTERS

    - Cam Mack

    - Teddy Allen

    - Dalano Banton

    - Shamiel Stevenson

    - Derrick Walker

    ROTATION

    - Thorir Thorbjarnarson

    - Yvan Ouedraogo

    - Lat Mayen

    - Dachon Burke OR Jervay Green *still cant decide who is a better individual player and who fills a more important need for next year **sub Kobe King if he recieves a waiver

Feeling very confident about this prediction (as confident as you can be with this early of a prediction 😂😂😂). I could see Kevin Cross, Akol Arop, Charlie Easley, and Burke/Green (one or the other; and both if King is eligible) all looking for PT else where. Not that they couldnt contribute next year or, for the underclassmen, develop in to contributors but their roles/PT are going to be greatly diminished. Its just one of those things where once you get a taste of PT and a large role, you dont want to go back to a smallet role or riding the pine.

  15. Agree with the above post. The staff seems to really like his potential. The staff also likes to have two or three guys RS each season and only plays roughly eight guys. On average, that leaves two spots open who arent RS and arent in the rotation.

    Things to consider:

    - Is that Akol's ceiling on this team or at this level?

    - Is that a role Akol is okay filling?

    - Is the staff okay with keeping him IF that is his ceiling?
