Like a man. With an iffy stroke.

I also believe he has been injury prone in the past?

I dont know if anyone can comment specifically on his time at Tennessee, but I remember hearing something along those lines. He also DNP during our trip overseas bc of injury.

I think King will be our best all around player next year.  He was the best player Wiscy had this season.  He’s an extremely good get.  The fans will love him.  He, Banton, Allen, and Mayen are huge offensive upgrades.

Yes i think we will be much improved from a talent stand point and schematic fit. And no doubt HCFH will coach em up.

  3. I understand the thinking of "this is a seven win team, who cares if anyone comes back". But my main concern with having zero holdovers comes from when I look at Banton, Walker, Stevenson, Mayen, and Allens career minutes.

I believe Banton has the highest MPG average at 15ish, but he was at Western Kentucky. Sure everyone else played P5 bball but not in high volume nor were they asked to take on the roles of starter, leading scorer, etc. Thats a lot of players being asked to take on much larger roles in a bigger, more physical conference. Im still optimistic, but having a couple guys return and reduced to rotation pieces who are familiar with HCFH and the B1G isnt a bad idea imo.

If Kobe King recieves eligibility, he will be a huge help as he has the best statisitics of any incoming player and has two years of experience in the B1G.

  4. This years teams problem was we had too many bench players (10-15 MPG) playing 30+ a game every night.

I would prefer we dont completely start over from scratch as we have seen what that can make a team look like (a very extreme example Ill admit). But I trust HCFH to keep the right 2-4 guys from this year's team and adjust their role properly.

  5. If I had a crystal ball that would assure me Mack matures and buys in, then I would want Mack, Thor, and Ouedraogo to stay. Wouldnt mind Arop staying another year either just see how he develops. If Easley is okay fluctuating back and forth between scholarship and no scholarship during his career I am also 100% down to keep him.

Given the SOS was much tougher down the stretch, I suppose that is some improvement putting up the same numbers but against better teams, but numbers wise he didn't actually make much of a jump.

Not many 6 footish 150 poundish PG's in the NBA that has gone thru a season with four suspensions, struggles finishing at the rim, struggles with the three point shot, struggles defending, struggles at the free throw line and drops his head with angst when things go wrong.

Yes, he is quick, yes he protects the rock with good handles and makes sweet passes.  But when you look at NBA point guards, they have few if any flaws .  They are elite.

After this post, I will not be commenting on it anymore bc my point is not getting across whether it be my own fault or others not comprehending what im saying.

I am not saying Cam Mack is an NBA player right now. I mentioned how he needs to bulk up a bit and work on his shooting. But he has attribites that are very appealing to NBA scouts (quickness, passing, and vision). If, I even said its a big IF, he works on the things above he could be a second rounder next year.

Second rounders arent sure fire bets to ever step on the court, let alone be stars.

I feel like a lot of the negativity Mack is getting is simply from the fact the his actions and immaturity are hurting a team we love.

    Feel free to disagree! GBR

  8. Not really worried about next year in terms of chemistry or transition to P5 basketball. We will have our three sit out guys plus 2-3 (maybe more?) returning from this years team. Remember, Thor and Burke were the only two players who had been on a team together coming in to this season. But didnt play together. And HCFH and staff system was new to everyone.

As for the players coming in, as mentioned above, they all have some degree of P5 experience.

We will be in a much better situation heading into next year.

Which is fair. And the improved offense (we hope) will get him more open looks from 3. His 3 % dropped a bit after teams keyed on him a lot

And i still think one of the three guards return and hope Arop does. No idea on Easley or Cross. I would welcome both back but understand if they decide to go.

And Thor could still go overseas to play pro ball. Pull a Jack McVeigh more or less, and I wouldn't fault him. But I agree

If im Thor, which obviously im not, im thinking I sat through two full years of most fans calling me a waste of scholarship and then a full year of proving I can play but on a team that took its fair share of lumps. Now I wanna reap the benefits of contributing on a (hopefully) good team.

Plus another year under the tutelage of HCFH cant hurt, right?

Is Mack really that big of a loss in all reality? Yeah he has flashes and potential but is an avg shooter, horrible ft shooter, good passer, lots of drama.  What player misses 5 games on different occasions and stays on a team?

Agree. At some point we will have to cut our losses. He could be a really good player but it's not like we will be missing out on a lottery pick.

Does it really matter?  These guys were on a team that won 7 games and honestly they may have potential, but arent game changers.  If this was a bubble team than maybe but at this point its no loss in my opionion.

Agree on Green and Burke. Disagree on Mack. He is a top level PG, but obviously might be addition by subtraction at this point considering all the issues he has had.

It will be interesting to see how these end of the season meetings go.

I am in the group that thinks he has no chance to be drafted. And this discussion has me intrigued. So I went and looked at draft projections on a couple of different sites. A kid from Marquette is consistantly rated as the last pg taken this year. Around 45 to 55 depending on the site. He averages 27.7ppg and shoots 40+% from 3. No Way I think Cam Mack could hit those #'s. And while his passing and vision is nice even if he did improve his other stats will he even have a chance to showcase it next year?  A lot of my opinion is form from this very board. What is he going to be next year, the 3rd or 4th scoring option? That's seems to be eluded to in other discussions here. This kid does not strike me as someone that will do well in a diminished scoring role. And I've seen nothing this year that shows me he has a team first mentality.

Markus Howard? He is a tried and proven product. The thing about the NBA is they love drafting on potential and Mack has that. He has the tools you cant teach. Lightning fast and good decision maker who can fire a laser point pass to anyone at any given time. Plus he is a great rebounder for his position and size. A team will take a chance on him thinking they can teach him to shoot and make him stronger/bigger. Once again, this is under the pretenses he comes back next year and puts in the necessary work under HCFH. And i completely understand why ppl think that is a big IF.

Side note, the reason i love this board and continue to frequent it is bc there are varying and opinions and we can discuss them respectfully and civilly.
