uneblinst's postgame chatter: vol 16; ed 16 - Purdue

They couldn’t in our section of lower bowl. All the kids were waiting in the isles. We sit on the end and couldn’t get out if we wanted to -
Purdue (14-1) vs. Nebraska (12-3) Game Thread

He sat in front of us and at that moment I knew something great was going to happen. He was one of the first ones rushing the court too. GLORIOUS -
I was in Norfolk doing the same

Is Hoiberg the coach of this team next year?
Art Vandalay replied to huskerbill85's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Apparently lots of people because they still use his records those years as a reason for him to be gone. Still doing it this year until the last couple games. He was definitely in charge no one is debating that. He was used to getting dudes and out scoring teams, we knew that, we all wanted that. With those rosters I don’t care what style he played it would have been ugly. So in hindsight it is super easy to say he should have played differently but that was not who we hired at the time. IMO there are 2 reasons it didn’t work. Big10 is different and recruiting was very limited his first two years because of limited time in year 1 and then Covid. If things were not so crazy those years I would bet his record would have been much improved. Maybe things would be different now but I’m happy with where we seem to be headed. So maybe it was just a painful but good lesson. I love Trev and he was very clear changes were needed and Fred came back to him with a plan and then implemented it, he should get some credit for that. ‘Edit note. I’m not telling you your opinion is wrong just explaining why I and others have not been calling for his job over the last few years. Everyone has their own expectations -
Is Hoiberg the coach of this team next year?
Art Vandalay replied to huskerbill85's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
People seem to forget the first two seasons involved completely rebuilding a whole roster during a pandemic. That is truly a once in a lifetime event (we hope). Yes everyone had to deal with Covid but it was much easier for experienced teams with a solid roster in place. Not traveling to recruit or have guys visit our facilities was killer. So I have always given him the benefit of the doubt for those years. I do agree it should only take 3-4 years to build a hoops program normally so I think he is on track for that if we take care of business this year. Never understood those that wanted him gone after year 2-3. Hope we never have to worry about it anymore. -

He was probably there scouting. I saw there were scouts from various NBA guys at the game. -

Agreed and they played and shot the ball well against us. We just beat them straight up. -
UMass shot 20 FTs in the first half along. Must have been real tight officiating which is not good for the Duqs

They shot better than us from 2&3, had more rebounds, more assists, refs killing us in first half, Gary had an off night scoring and we still kicked their asses. Great defense, hustle, coaching, all around team effort Love every minute of it. Even had Dylan Raiola taking selfies with the Tominaga family -
Indiana St is good, nice win for them

I always thought that they just use NET to set Quads, it’s not used as criteria like some computer rankings.

I actually don’t believe that. Outside of 2017, the years I think we deserved to get in we did and had a reasonable seed (granted that was long ago). I actually think the committee looks for good stories except when that DBag AD from Omaha ran it. just my opinion and I could be wrong

I always thought it was his decision to leave and not run off but I’m not positive on that. Potential was there to see -

He took 12 shots (only the third most) and is one of our best shooters. I am good with him taking a lot of shots. -

I would have went for the steal but then not foul but either way the chances were less than 1%. That last completely unforced turnover kind of killed Izzy’s spirit I think. -

I don’t get the criticism Brice gets, must be just because he doesn’t show a lot of emotion. Believe it was Gary’s good shoulder that got hurt, hopefully nothing serious but he did seem to be in some pain on the sideline but came back in -

Might as well have. I’ll go farther. If I am Trev I would pull the tickets, to all sports, of those Nebraska students who wore Creighton gear to the game and sat front row. #$#$ them -
Sam was gassed and motioned for a sub so Fred called one.

First, I sit behind the bench, I sure as hell know what I saw. You are not even talking about the same incident. Second I didn’t say he was why we lost, just pointing out an unfortunate trend -

You are not alone. He has also not gone hard for a rebound / loose ball 5-6 times I’ve noticed. Got benched for it a couple games ago. -
Creighton (5-1) vs. Nebraska (7-0) Game Thread

This times a million. They were just laying off him and Josiah, letting them shoot. JL has no confidence in his shot now and we need him to get it back if we want to compete -

Nope, noticed it right away. His whole situation is very odd. -
Nice write up, thanks for sharing.
