  1. Yes I feel that the person Simon will replace in the line up will be Clark. Several reasons for that. On several posts before the season started I pointed out that ideally you want some height, athleticism, ability to drive to the hoop and outside shooting at the wing position. You will also be guarding these type of players once league starts. I know last year we used Jeffery there even though she was of similar height to Clark. That was because we were so limited due to injuries, players leaving etc. Brandi stayed healthy and was a great rebounder for her size. I can see Clark coming off the bench in relief of Theriot and Romeo with her amount of minutes depending on her increasing her shooting percentage and over all confidence coming off a big injury. Also look for Wood's minutes to gradually increase. On another topic I love the hustle displayed by Kalenta, Blackburn and Romeo. Due to that fact that Theriot is so smart, experienced and smooth it is there as well but not so noticeable. She just glides around.
  2. Simon will soon be a starter.
  3. UCON bench loaded with top recruits scored 40 points to ours with 7. A big difference is a really strong bench creates a lot of competition and gives the starters a good look at practices. Said it before but as each game comes and goes I'm concerned about our consistent 3 point scoring.
  4. We need to get some consistent scoring from the wing position when we play decent teams. Haven't seen the consistency yet. disappointed in Clark's 3 pt shooting. Time for it to still come around though.
  5. I agree. Jess trying to keep up with Stewart could increase an injury possibility especially as competitive as Jess is.
  6. So HB you are saying that we aren't much better then K-State who lost to UCON by 40 but only beat Southern by 12 who we beat by 51?
  7. Only preseason loss to UCON. A moral victory would be to stay within 20. But when Connie Yori was asked if she and the players thought they could win she said that if a player here didn't think they could win going into a game they shouldn't be here irregardless of who they are playing. Don't under estimate Yori in motivating her team. I said it several months ago and still feel the same. NU will be the biggest surprise team (positive) in the conference.
  8. For the 2017 season we will only have three posts with Shepard, Blackburn and Washington. I would assume that if no one leaves we will use both our available scholarships at that time on posts.
  9. Pretty tough assignment for anyone let along a freshman with Stewart being a four year starter and having played against the best of the best during that time. Even if we get beat by a lot it will be a great experience especially with them coming to Lincoln next year. It will provide Yori some great teaching opportunities. I think UCON will be our only non conference defeat. When we play Iowa as our first conference game we should be rated in top 20. We really need to stick it to Iowa. Hate to lose to them in anything.
  10. For us to be able to beat higher rated teams we will need to be a lot more consistent from the three point line from game to game. That was some what of a problem last year as well. Extremely hot one game and then cold in the next game or two. We have the shooters in Theriot, Clark and Romeo just need the consistency.

Every sport has situations where some players work out better then expected and some that don't. The reasons why vary from case to case and we don't often see all the reasons. We should celebrate those that do and sympathize with those that don't. All I know for sure is that recruiting in todays environment must be extremely difficult and time consuming taking coaches away from their families more then they would like.
  12. Anybody hear of any signings today from the 5 commits for 2016?
  13. We will have plenty of opportunities to prove them wrong. Go Big Red.
  14. I like our class. I think we have a great coach who is extremely strong at developing players. I heard a college bb coach once say this about Yori while she was at Creighton. "At the beginning of the season Coach Yori had numerous players that nobody recruited highly but at the end of the season she had a lot of players that everybody wanted".
  15. Since starting this post there has been lot's more info that has become available for people to read. Most of it is with the season starting but there has been a lot of contributions by people on this site. Glad I stumbled on to it. What I would really like to see is WBB fans to continue to clammer for more and higher visibility of our team. I know we will never rival Men's BB but the more fans we have following the team the better.
  16. Wow! What a difference a year makes. New coaches that Connie says she really likes and fit in well with good chemistry. Players not leaving the program. An injury list not a mile long. An inside game. A potentially highly rated recruiting class for the 3rd straight year coming in 2016. Enough depth that the fans can disagree on who will or should start or play significant roles. And we get to watch this all unfold in one of the best BB facilities in the nation. We owe a lot to Coach Yori who set the stage over the years for this to happen and to voters in Lincoln for PBA.
  17. Kyndal C. is a very nice addition to the team if even just for one year. She brings a steady influence to the back court along with Rachel T. Her outside shots were great looks and even though she was 0/5 that will change going forward. She had all 4 of the teams steals to go along with 0 fouls and 0 turnovers. Call me crazy but I believe before the end of the season and maybe even by the time conference starts you will see Simon starting at the 3 position with Natalie R. coming off the bench but still getting considerable playing time. That's assuming both Clark and Theriot stay healthy.
  18. Was at the game and first time seeing Jess play in person. Wow. Was bit disappointed in Romero as she seems to play out of control at times, but it was her first game.
  19. Conni Yori prefers to play a lot more pressure defense than she has been able to the last few years due to depth issues. It will be interesting to watch this aspect develop as the team now has the needed depth. As the younger players develop and the team chemistry continues to improve from players learning their roles this will be huge as we get into the Big Ten.
  20. The impact is that 3 of our main players all seem to have recouped from major injuries.
  21. Just a guess but Jess will draw the other teams strongest post as well as some double teams which should open up some shots for the other forward as well as the guards. Rachel seams tough, determined and smart and I'm sure she will be dedicated in the weight room.
  22. Good post. I hadn't seen it before even though I scour everything I can find. One thing that is becoming obvious to me is that it takes awhile after changing conferences to absorb all the changes that occur and then reset your strategy accordingly. Unlike the FB team Coach Yori has done this and you are just starting to see the results in such things as recruiting, hiring of new assistant coaches, timing of the Australia trip, new facilities etc. May not be ready to win a national championship this year but just making the top ten would be a great achievement. I get to go to Sunday's game. GO BIG RED.
  23. I would like to be a mouse in the corner of the coaches strategy planning room when they are sitting around discussing all the options they now have before them for the upcoming regular season. Never seen Yori so excited. I think she has a good handle on what it will take to to now be a proverbial top ten program versus a top 25 program as in the past.
  24. Number one skill required by coach Y. is ability to play defense where attitude is a prime contributor.
