Cravens and Bourne total 2 rebounds. Shelly and Haiby have 10 total. Our starting posts need to get a lot tougher. Why isn't Weidner playing more.
-
Izzy is having a really tough day so far but she isn't the only one. Cayton trying to block a clouden 3pt attempt was laughable. 3 free throws by her and Cayton gets jerked.
-
Our whole team looks up tight on offense. If we don't loosen up could be a loss. Also way too many offensive rebounds given up.
-
My memory of last years Mich. St. at NU is a little different. They are the ones that backed out of what was probably a loss for them. That cost us a chance for a winning record for regular season. Also I don't like their (Barbie Doll) coach.
-
Drake out rebounded them by quite a bit and made field goals at about an 8% higher clip and made a few more free throws.

Every big ten game is big but the one looming on the horizon is Jan 4th with Michigan coming to town. It will be a great measuring stick for our progress. I like our chances and if you are going to challenge for a top four finish in the Big Ten, games like that are important. That being said you can't over look anyone. Playing on the road at Michigan State could cause us some grief but I feel that although we are very young we are well grounded. Hope the Covid stays away from our team. More games across the country are being cancelled every week. GBR

As for Red Panda I was at the game and maybe it was too early in the day. Still very talented. I then went to the men's game last night for the first time and she performed again. Perfect performance with no drops. Crowd gave her a standing ovation. I can understand why she is so popular.

Big Ten team news...(Hoopla's picks complete p. 17)
HUD replied to whoopdeedoo's topic in Row 6 Seat 10
We play Michigan only once and that is at Nebraska on Jan. 4th. Need a huge crowd to cheer us to a victory. -
I love the format of the new sports nightly call in show and always watch it and call in with a question. Her answers are always very in depth and on on target. This summer we went to the Husker Blitz when teams of coaches partnered up and went out into the state to meet fans and answer their questions. My wife and I went to the one in David City and got there early. Coach Williams was there with Chinlander and Verduzco. She got their early as well and sat across the table from me and my wife and visited with us for about 15 minutes. She was so gracious and informative. I asked her every WBB question I could think of and ran out of questions. Great Lady.

In last weeks call in show I asked coach Williams if she has considered playing Kendall Coley some at the wing (3 position) which could cause some matchup problems for the teams we play and free up more playing time for Alexis and Annika. She said that she and Kendall sat down earlier this year and discussed where Kendall playing position wise could help this years team the most. They both felt at this time forward would be the best especially since we have currently 7 guards. I personally would like to see a reserve team consisting of Allison W. at point. Ruby P. at the 2. Kendall C. at the 3 and Alexis M. and Annika S. at the forwards. That team could hold their own against our present 5 starters. Either way our depth is going to help us win a lot of games.

We recruited Emily heavily. It came down to us and Iowa St. and probably at that time their program was a step ahead of ours. As it turns out I will take Jaz. The way I see us stacking up in the big Ten is Maryland and Indiana as the top teams. Next level Michigan and Iowa with Ohio State and us very close to breaking into that second group. If we continue to improve and stay healthy a top four finish as we had in 2017 would be a possibility. We have a really young team that is on an upward trajectory.
-
Something I would like to see is Coley starting (at the 3 position) along with guards Shelly and Haiby. This would give other teams matchup problems and help our rebounding as well. This would also free up more minutes for Markowski who has shown that the team needs them from a scoring and rebounding stand point. Also frees up a few more minutes for Stewart.
-
I love where our team is at right now and we have some extra practice time coming up over the next 3 game home stand to work on some things. We gave up too many offensive rebounds which has been a problem at times in the past. Izzy needs to be a better rebounder as she had only one last night. She is not rebounding as well statically as last year but I'm sure the competition was concentrating on blocking out Kate Cain.

WBB NET ratings released today for first time this season (Now as of 1/28/2022)
HUD replied to HUD's topic in Row 6 Seat 10
We know we have a good team but will find out how good tonight. -
In the first NET Poll Nebraska is 4th. The next highest Big ten team is Ohio State at 18th. The NCAA started using the NET last year for the first time in helping select tournament teams. The men have been using it for years. It's supposedly more detailed the the RPI. I would rather start higher then our usual around 150 and then try like hell to climb. Updated. As of today 1/28/2022 we went from 13th to 11th which is the highest in the conference. Still early but means more each week.

It seems we have some fans that are hard to please. If we play great defense and make our competition look bad with a big win then it's just a crappy team that we beat. Over time I believe this team will continue to prove itself. We are a young team and have continued to improve each game. We should be able to compete with the top four teams in our league. Not long ago that seemed a dream. I have been following WBB since it started and have never enjoyed watching a team more then this one. In this day and age it's rare to have a team that cares for each other as much as this year's group. Thanks to our coaching staff for getting us to this point.

I looked over the weekend and on Husker.com it said it would be on espn + but now it says its only on ACC network. Anyway I signed up for espn + like 12 dozen did so I can watch volleyball this weekend. May just have to listen to Matt and Jeff tonight.

It's a long season and injuries coupled with fouls, matchups or just a player having a bad night will create some opportunities for others to play a little more. It's not how many minutes you play but what you do with them.
-
I like our schedule as it ramps up. Good to have another road game before MINN especially for the newbies. Besides Stewart (who I always liked) Markowski's I'm not backing off from anyone type of physical play will pay off in the Big Ten.
-
Scoggins shouldn't dribble the ball.

I'm pretty sure as hard as both our coaching staffs recruited her they both feel they can make it work. It's great the two coaches get along so well and share ideas and talent. As for some of the comments about the NC Central game just being another scrimmage there are a lot of upsets happening in these "scrimmage games". Last year we were begging for depth with the injuries and smaller roster. I'm sure coach plays the ones she feels have earned it and will give us a best chance to win. Before the season started we were praying for a great point guard that could pass the ball. We now have at least 2. Just look at the stats for the season or just the last game. Between Shelly and Weidner in a total of 38 minutes played between them they had in total 22 pts, 18 reb, 18 assists, 1 t/o, and 3 blocked shots. I don't care if we were playing "the sisters of the poor" for two new players one a transfer and the other a freshman that is outstanding.

It looked to me like Mich WBB has been not quite as dominant as expected. After checking out their website I see that both Amy Dilk (knee) and Leigha Brown (ankle) have not been playing for the past couple of games. Neither is expected to be season ending injuries but as in our experience last year sometimes it can take awhile.
-
Everybody can promise but few coaches can deliver on those promises. I like our coaches. But who knows in this day and age.

She was at the game on the bench.
