Probably getting limited minutes because of fouls.  4 fouls in 9 minutes last night (averaging a foul almost every two minutes on the floor)...hard to find him much more playing time under the circumstances.

Dayton has outstanding coaching.  How they didn't lose him last off season is pretty miraculous.

Its tough to quantify good versus great - everyone will have their own feelings.  To me, an all conference player, first or second team, qualifies as great rather than good.

It doesn't count for RPI purposes and it doesn't count as a win by the selection committee criteria.

Because it doesn't impact RPI, it may be better than playing your typical MEAC or SWAC team.

I don't think that there were many significantly questioning whether Aguek was capable of playing at the power conference level; the issue was always more about the timing, shopping him behind his back, and denying the "shopping" when asked about it.

Five minutes?  Sheesh, I could see a whole lot more time than that!  It seems to take at least five minutes every time they go to the replays....

If you think the timing of start of the school year truly had anything to do with the decision making, I've got some land in Florida to sell to you.

Was a scholarship going to be available for Arop in the fall of 2017?  NO!!!  That, by definition, means the scholarship offer had been pulled.

Heck, who is to say that a scholarship would have even been available even if Arop finished a year of prep school?  If the reason that this all went down is because the staff didn't think Arop was good enough, and that seems to be the prevailing theory, it seems likely that Arop wouldn't be good enough after a year of prep school either.  As Chauncy Billips said on 1620, unlike other kids that go the prep school route, he wouldn't have been headed to prep school because he didn't have the required grades or because he was trying to get additional exposure (P5 scholarship offers).

Not really; fall signing period is 2 months away. AAU season is over...Miles did him no favors on the timing. If Miles cuts him loose earlier in the summer, he gets other coaches to watch him during the summer eval period. I assume that is part of the reason Chubick is so pissed.

Make no mistake about it ---- this is absolutely a case of Miles pulling a scholarship.

Sounds like a textbook retaliation claim.  Party witnesses/experiences illegal behavior, party complains about behavior, coworkers treat complainant like crap while supervisors encourage the treatment or do nothing to stop it.

Declining to renew the girls scholarship after she reports an attack is never going to pass any smell test.

I am probably most surprised by how far you have Morrow down the list. I think you're positioning would differ from most fans. For the record, I actually agree with you. Morrow's skill set seems to be an odd fit in Miles' offense. He's a touch undersized to play inside and he, at least last season, lacks the shooting touch to play outside as a stretch 4/5. If he could add an outside shot, his value would go up exponentially.

I don't think anybody is saying that the kids have to play fast, but the dribble around and hold the ball simply because you can do so isn't necessarily teaching them much either.    I would buy the idea that teams were incapable of playing quicker if they were constantly playing school with higher levels of athleticism.  However, as you noted, most of the state is rural in nature, so that means that the smaller schools are playing against other smaller, rural schools.  I find it hard to believe, with a straight face, that the kids from rural areas are incapable of running their offense against other kids from rural areas in 40 seconds or less.  It isn't that they can't do so, it is that they CHOOSE not to do so, especially when they get a lead.  It is this same sort of stall ball at the college level that led to the introduction of the shot clock.

Incidentally, the real Dean Smith did just fine even after he was no longer allowed to run his patented 4 corners offense.

I think it is so much harder to get a kid to walk on anywhere than it was in the past.  College tuition costs have exploded and increases have far exceeded the cost of inflation.  Quite simply, many families simply cannot afford college for their kids and when presented with a free option are more apt to take the free option than straddle a kid or themselves with ridiculously high levels of student loan debt that can be a burden for up to 20 years after graduation.

I disagree.  The shot clock would certainly create extra possessions, which almost certainly should lead to extra scoring

In college basketball this year, scoring is up.  Likewise the number of possessions per game is also up, which is almost certainly due to the shorter clock.

I never thought Molinari was the cause; I thought Smith's departure was the cause.

Molinari is Smith's replacement, so he catches the flack for not bringing the same things to the table that Smith brought.  That isn't fair though because Molinari's strength's were never the same as Smith's strengths.

Now, a fair question may be whether the team is actually benefiting from Molinari's strengths.

Actually, most KU fans are confused about how they lost the kid and really wanted him.

A large part of the reason he probably chose someone other than KU is how Self uses/doesn't use shooters.  The decisions by kids like Connor Frankamp and current Husker Andrew White to transfer out of KU due to lack of playing time most likely played a role here.
