  1. Looks like a men's swimming suit from about 1937. Hideous.
  2. I assume they are talking about the one in Omaha
  3. The angst is that the staff is down one recruiter during the key recruiting period of the year.
  4. I think you will see a much better team. How much better the record gets is still up for debate as the schedule is tougher. Why do you say the schedule's tougher? Good question. The noncon, outside of Nova, seems much weaker. I also think that the Big 10 will not be as good this year - Wisky loses everyone, Ohio St lost a key cog and others will be down too. Maryland should be very good, but otherwise I see a less dangerous road.
  5. That home schedule has got a lot of stink on it. Lots of MEAC and SWAC RPI killers.
  6. Adidas isn't dying...it is already dead...the last time it was cool was when RUN D.M.C. sang "My adidas" in the 1980s. Unfotunately anyone who was too young to be around when that song debuted thinks adidas is a joke.
  7. Hard to differentiate from their other shoes, which are just plain garbage.
  8. I hope you are right, but it is almost impossible for a kid right out of college who doesn't make a team's opening day roster, to get a call up during the season. What teams tend to do is call up guys that they have seen before or that have NBA experience, even if extremely limited. If Terran doesn't make a roster, his best bet not to mention most lucrative option, is to play in Europe. If he plays in Europe, he isn't making any NBA roster in 2015-16.
  9. Regardless of where he goes, I find it hard to believe that he will play 3 more years in college.
  10. With Yogi coming back, Indiana should be quite good. If he picks IU, it is probably because he wants to go to the NCAA tournament. I agree that it seems unlikely that he goes to Iowa State, unless Hoiberg makes some sort of announcement that he is not interested in any NBA jobs at this time.
  11. I left one which resembles my comments here. Some of those other comments are....ummm.....well....I am having trouble finding the right word.....scandalous?
  12. I don't think it is that complicated. Unlike football, college basketball has an end of the year tourney to determine a champion - teams either make it or they don't. If they make it, they either advance or they don't. The criteria, regardless of what conference a school is in is to first make the tourney and then advance as far as you can. That is how you compare success across programs in college basketball.
  13. Plus the fact that nearly all of our games are on TV. Pretty much every power conference team can boast that now.
  14. +1. I've never understood why a team gets what amounts to a free time out when one of its players fouls out of a game. It basically rewards the team that violated the rules.
  15. I agree with this. His combine performance did little to improve his status although it seems like a lot other guys did improve their status at the combine which could serve to hurt Petteway's draft chances if he was jumped by guys that were below him. While getting drafted might help Nebraska recruiting, it is usually better for guys drafted at the end of the second round to not be drafted at all. That allows them to pick their own location where they may have a better chance of making a roster.
  16. Yup...this is one of those perspective deals because who knows if Dickerson even knows where he is going. There is zero advantage for us to mention Dickerson as a staff unless you know he's going to come here because you risk losing Biefeldt and potentially ending up with neither guy. Not to mention that it would be against NCAA rules to do so... I do believe this is now the longest thread on a kid that we can't even confirm is being recruited by this coaching staff or any previous staffs.
  17. This is how I would define the two: Gameplanning: How we're going to attack and defend to beat a team In game coaching: The adjustments to our gameplan to counter the success of the other team Any of our coaches might excel at one vs the other. However, I think you're talking about our offensive and defensive foundation/philosophy in general though and how much of an influence Mo has on that. Subsequently, our gameplanning and in game coaching is typically going through the specifics on how we're going to implement that overall philosophy. I disagree that a team that is slow and defensive minded is automatically going to lack in confidence on offense and I can spit out numbers all day to back that up. There are plenty of teams that run what we did on defense last year who were very successful. I think you could make a very good argument that we needed to give up some defensive efficiency to make up for our lack of offensive efficiency or just general shooting skill. I think we have a problem if our personnel would be better suited to play a uptempo game and/or a pressure defense but we continue to slow play and/or play a pack defense because "that is what we do." I agree with all of this. I would add that if Miles is going to go small, one should join that with a more uptempo system to leverage the advantages that playing more smaller guys provides. Maybe even work in a full court press defensively. If you both go small and play slow, I see that as a recipe for defeat in conference play and against high major programs.
  18. I know Washington just lost an assistant to iowa St. Is it possible that whomever they hired to replace him is better connected with Dickerson? By the way, Indiana just did some spring Creening yesterday, so they suddenly have a few open scollies.
  19. Man, there are a lot of errors in this post. Private schools also have to meet state standards. If they fail to do so, they will lose their right to operate. Also, state and local taxes do not go to private schools. It is absolutely false to say, "...but both private and public schools are also both supported by your tax dollars. Public funds pay for books, transportation, equipment, etc. at private schools." While private schools may occasionally win some grants that they have to compete for, private school students or the schools pay for their own books. If any transportation is offered at all, the student's parents pick up the tab. Most of the time, parents of kids in extracurriculars at private schools have to contribute to the costs of the equipment, supplies, etc for those extracurriculars as well. The major differences are two fold: (1) private schools do not have the facilities or money to handle most special education students; (2) private schools can more rapidly expel disciplinary problem kids than publics.
  20. Another thought for this thread --- If Hoiberg goes to the Bulls when they ultimately can or trade Thibs, is there anybody on the Iowa St roster that would be appealing?
  21. If a player hasn't been released from his LOI, can you contact him directly? Isn't that why schools contact AAU/HS coaches in the first place?
  22. I just hope he stays academically eligible all season!
