  2. Agreed! I think Allen is a better player than Arop right now.
  3. I think Teddy is the best in-state player in the 2017 class right now. There are some lingering questions by some as to whether his game will translate at the power conference level (he won't fit into what some schools run very well), but he would probably be a star at a mid major. Unlike some kids int he metro, I haven't heard anything about academic issues but Boystown is usually solid there. Of course, I have no idea if he has taken an ACT/SAT yet.
  4. Chandler may be the next kid to garner upper level scholarship offers. There have been questions in the past about his work ethic and academic eligibility which have largely kept programs away from offering so far. If he can clean up those question marks, you could see offers start to roll in. Wingett is interesting. There are obviously questions about the level he is playing at now and how he would compare against bigger, stronger and more athletic kids on a regular basis. There are also some lingering academic questions (yes, his academic record was finally released last year, but many question why it took so long and what the delay may or may not mean).
  5. Thanks for the update, did you see the Allen kid from Boys Town play? Yes, really impressive. He hasn't been around the area as long as the other guys so I haven't heard as much about him. But he torched Aguek's team, and they had unbelievable athletes. I'm sure he'll get a D-1 offer from somebody, not sure how high, though. Some of the stuff I pass along is personal observations, but some of it is from people who know more than I do. The Char kid from Burke is a year younger than these guys, but he still looked like one of the top players. Like I said, probably a dozen D-1 kids there, maybe more. Aguek, Ed Chang and the Wilson kid to me are high level kids for sure, maybe Chandler too. Bratton and Allen could definitely play high level, but they'd need the right situation. Neither has either the top-drawer skills or athleticism to get ranked top 100, but they can definitely play. We already have Morrow and Horne playing as undersized 4s or I'd start beating the drum for Bratton. He's not as athletic as Ed, but he has a better game away from the basket, imo. Strom and Small (Iowa kid playing with Omahans) probably are Summit level. Maybe Akoy's little brother too. Amazing talent, I'd attribute it to (1) the Sudanese kids (2) Omaha getting its act together on AAU ball. Three teams are capable of playing in high level tournaments. Keep in mind that Omaha Elite won big national tournaments as U16s, and they just lost to Aguek's team. There's a couple of decent outstate teams, but they just get overshadowed by what's going on in Omaha right now. Eager to see who else gets offered in the next three weeks, when all the coaches get a look at these kids. It has taken Omaha way too long to get a viable, competitive and continuing AAU program in place. Thankfully, there are now quite a few up and running that are giving the kids opportunity to play and develop at earlier ages. It has helped that there is a bit more talent as well. One other very important factor is that kids are not being pushed toward football (and away from fall hoops programs) as much as they once were. Long term, another D1 program at UNO should also serve as a stimulus for ongoing basketball interest.
  6. I thought there were measures against this. There are against an athletic scholarship player taking academic scholarships. Like Shavon couldn't have just taken an academic ship to help with paying for school if we had extra guys who needed scholarshipsI don't know the specifics but I think Creighton has done it each of the past 3 years.-McDermott (walkon) -That Cal grad transfer last year (walkon) -the 7 foot red head this year (graduate scholarship) I could be wrong but I think I'm right. Doc got an extra scholarship one year too. I'm not sure the NCAA can do a heckuva lot to keep a kid from paying his own way. What are they going to do - tell a kid (or kid's parents) that they can't spend their money how they want? That might give rise to a legitimate claim of unconstitutionality. The NCAA can restrict usage of financial aid programs, but keeping a kid from writing a check is likely out of their jurisdiction.
  7. I suspect that there is a scholarship at Minnesota that will become available soon - perhaps after the school year ends. That may or may not be the hold up here.
  8. Just curious why you think that? Morrow is more of a low post player only whereas Jacobson has more outside range to go along with his low post presence. I don't know that offensively we can play Morrow and Jordy at the same time. To me, that makes Morrow a 5. Morrow needs to get his Serge Ibaka outside game going & he'll be able to play the stretch 4 some day. Block shots, D up, and hit a jumper now & then. And, of course, hit the glass like a mad man! I don't think Morrow will ever be a stretch 4. He's just not a shooter; that isn't his game. That's okay as not everyone is a shooter, and a 4 doesn't need to be a Stretch 4 to be effective. I think Jacobson and Morrow are both 4s, but the offense has to be run completely different for each of them as they have such dissimilar games from one another. I don't expect three-pointers, by any stretch. I do think Morrow can knock down 15'-17' jumpers so I would classify him as a "potential" stretch 4. He has good form. He had foot issues this year. On one side of the paint he'll be much better by opening up the floor for driving lanes by Gill et al if Ed can knock down that corner pull-up shot consistently. Jacobson and Morrow aren't entirely that different, once a healthy Morrow is able to show his jumper more, Ed will become more valuable to the offensive sets. Morrow is a very good player who needs to grow his game. Jacobson is very well-heeled already. Both can get it done at the 4, IMHO. Jacobson will be able to play 5, as well. I guess we just will have to agree to disagree. Morrow wasn't an outside shooter in high school either. Playing a system where he is a stretch 4 and has to make outside shots is probably not the best fit for his skill set.

  10. That's a nifty little pickup for Purdue. If he's healthy, it substantially changes their outlook I would think.
  11. Intent is irrelevant. Throughout time, and especially during the civil rights movement, laws were thrown out or declared invalid because while the legislation itself was nondiscriminatory, the result of the legislation had a disparate impact against one particular group. Employer rules and regulations are routinely rejected by the NEOC and similar state orgs daily because the law has a disparate impact against a particular protected class. Show me a law or a rule that does NOT have a disparate impact. Are you one of those people who think that landlords shouldn't be able to request credit scores/reports of prospective tenants because minorities tend to have worse credit? If so, explain to me what part of credit reporting takes into account a person's race. Nope, just explaining how the law works
  12. Sounds like a textbook retaliation claim. Party witnesses/experiences illegal behavior, party complains about behavior, coworkers treat complainant like crap while supervisors encourage the treatment or do nothing to stop it. Declining to renew the girls scholarship after she reports an attack is never going to pass any smell test.

  14. If Sipple wasn't one of them I would have said it was just Jaysker blowing smoke. But with Sipple adding a couple of things it made me have pause.I hope that AWIII won't do that to the program, but... If he leaves now, in May I don't think we can come back from that. No way we can get 4 players for next year this late. Sharp is no Jaysker. He's a Nebraska alum and big time, big time Husker homer.
  15. Why isn't Arop playing for a Nebraska AAU squad? If you want extra competition, I can see a KC program, but a Colorado one?
  16. Great question. I was contemplating starting a thread about this once I saw that atskooc had bumped the thread. But then I thought if I don't do it, khoock probably will and I should let him take a stab at it. But now that you've brought it up ... White Gill Watson Webster Jacobson Roby Morrow McVeigh Horne (at least early on; could move up) Fuller I'm expecting at least one of the remaining spots to go to a transfer who will have to sit and no more than two of the remaining spots, therefore, to guys who will be eligible to play this coming season. I expect we'll get another guard and at least one more big man who will be immediately eligible. So, the above could be thrown off a little. Having said that, I think we'll go deeper than usual this year just because of the quality of our bench. I could see 9 players and maybe even 10 on a regular basis. And, depending on who we add, I could see Horne climbing the ladder a bit. He's a skilled kid who has dropped some baby fat and might be a bit more explosive than what I saw in film from last summer. I am probably most surprised by how far you have Morrow down the list. I think you're positioning would differ from most fans. For the record, I actually agree with you. Morrow's skill set seems to be an odd fit in Miles' offense. He's a touch undersized to play inside and he, at least last season, lacks the shooting touch to play outside as a stretch 4/5. If he could add an outside shot, his value would go up exponentially.
  17. I think every staff should have one X and O's guy and 2 recruiters.
  18. I think the difference is the quality of the other players on the kid's team at his position. Xavier had quite a few skilled big guys keeping London from seeing action.
  19. "Miles said recruiting connections will be a key for his new hire. Beckner landed no recruits while at Nebraska nor apparently left any direct leads." Might be hard to recruit many kids when you are on the job for only 9 months, most of which came during the season when time for recruiting is limited.
  20. How does Pastner keep getting these gigs?
  21. Probably, but I would say Nova isn't far behind. Could have easily been a #1 seed until their loss vs. The Hall in the Big East Tourney I would agree with favorite but not "prohibitive." I suspect UNC will dispatch 'Cuse (but then hasn't just about EVERYONE expected 'Cuse to go down each time?) to reach the final but neither Nova nor OU will go quietly into the night. Nova's zone won't bother OU like it did VA. They way they throttled the Ducks, I think it will be a UNC - OU matchup where each team scores 90+ and the last team with the ball wins. I'm hoping it is OU. One correction - Nova beat KU, not VA.
  22. Can one develop athleticism or is it God given?
