I agree with Royalfan. Regardless of whether Ohio State was on a 4 game losing streak they were still very talented.  Back in the days of Collier and Doc we would go into Kansas and get drilled 90-35. We got beat last night but not embarrassed. With the state of the program this year I will take that.  Nebraska played hard  but were not nearly talented enough to beat a team like this on the road. Just my two cents.

I know he's a South Dakotan, but that's a HUGE step down.  I don't think he'll get a P5 head coaching position right away, but I could see him going to the MVC, Mountain West, CUSA, etc.  The Summitt League would be a massive downgrade from the Big Ten.  I know we're paying him the next 2 years, but Otzelberger made $350k at SDSU last year.

I think he'd be better served to get a TV gig for 1 year before immediately settling for a Summitt League position.  Just my opinion.

My best guess is that the 7-14 day timeline was to allow Fred to enjoy watching his son and his son's team in the tournament and to not be a distraction.

Bounds really likes athletics.  He was a football GA for a school before getting into education.  I read several times last year that he frequently attended football practices.  I think his issue is with the state legislature in funding the university.

Agree completely.  I think the only way Roby and Allen might come back is with a new head coach that has some credibility garnered through winning.  In my opinion, I think Ed Morrow and Michael Jacobson left the program because they lost faith in Miles creating a winner.  JMO.

He wasn’t attending the B10 tourney because he was interviewing candidates out west where Nebraska, joined the B10, hired Riley and Frost. Can’t beleive the dots haven’t been connected but the hatred for Moos by some is unwarranted. If you don’t think he has spoken to Altman and Hoiberg than I can’t help you understand this process. He couldn’t be at the B10 tourney because he was busy working on the long term success of Nebraska basketball. Laugh, but it’s true

To me it looks like a guy who values family and knows that he won't have that many chances to see him play. I guess all that lip service we give about family with this program is just that...lip service. Complaining about when he could have left seems petty. I give little weight to national  hacks say. Local guys know that Miles days are short and are just looking for a story line to fill up column inches over the next week or so. Moos was never going to fire him in Chicago, regardless of the outcome of the game vs Rutgers. People complain if he doesn't go to a game and when he doesn't go to a game.

Objectively this is much-ado about nothing. TM is going to be fired.  Wednesday will be his last game as our head coach. The team used up all of their emotional energy this past weekend.
I hope I'm wrong as I want to see them win enough to make it to the quarter finals and hopefully play Creighton and beat them for a second time this season.

    GBR!

i guess we now know that family is only important when we say it should be important and all family plans need to be pre-approved by the fan base in order to avoid bad press. He probably has had to miss a lot of family time over his career and wanted to take this opportunity to spend time with his son and the rest of his family. If we would have played in the championship game on Sunday he would have been there. It is not for us to judge what is important for someones family.

Turgeon was at Kansas. Kansas is the dirtiest program in college basketball the last 30 + years. The difference is they don’t get caught. Looks like Turgeon learned that too. I have no problem hiring him.

I think in the new world of college athletics whenever there is a head coaching change players are going to be allowed to transfer without sitting 1 year.  That seems to be the trend in football anyway.

Bill Byrne offered Self a million dollars per year in March of 2000.  Self said no.  Was it prudent to fold the tent for the next 20 years and stop trying to get a proven winner?  I don't think so.  When you have the financial wherewithal that NU has you should be able to fix your coaching issues. If you can't that is probably an indication the wrong people have been in charge. In my opinion that has been the problem.
NU isn't cursed. It isn't like they have had a series of Dean Smith's in Lincoln who found the one place they couldn't win.  We have had decades of sub par head coaches.  The facilities are there ( top 10% percent), top 12 fan base, tons of money and Lincoln is a great college town.  Doesn't seem to be that hard of a sell to acquire somebody good.  But hey this is just my opinion.

Agreed. I have been a fan since the days of Slippery Joe Cipriano.  The one thing NU has never tried in basketball is paying enough to get a quality coach.  It is time.  If Kansas State and Iowa State can win in basketball so can we and probably at a much higher level with the right guy.

I don't know if this has been discussed but both Mark Turgeon and Tad Boyle were assistant coaches at Oregon during the Moos tenure there.  Wonder if there was much of  a relationship built .  I know that Boyle is from Colorado and considered the Buffs to be his dream job but the natives are restless there.  He has taken Colorado to 4 NCAA tournaments and 2 NIT's in 8 full seasons.  They will be going to post season again this year.

He is actually making 3 million.  The rest of the money was the buyout cost when he left Butler.
