  1. This was me last night, and it still is me today. I hurt more for the players than myself, especially the seniors. I do think Fred will bring in more qualified players to replace those we lose like last year. But I expect to an even better extent. Will that translate to the dance again? I dunno.

Norm spotted me outside the arena and gave a huge high five. Then several hundred, probably closer to a couple thousand, Husker fans started cheering HUS-KER POW-ER before they let us in. I told Norm something along the lines of “if today isn’t the day, then when is?”  It felt like it was going to happen. From being favored by Vegas, to Husker fans showing out, to having a “team”…it felt like the wait was over. When Keisei hit those first three and then Reink hit a deep one…I just didn’t think TAMU could keep up with us.

I feel so terrible for the seniors, the whole team, Kent, Shamus, Pat, and fans who have waited for so long like HB, Jimmy, Cip…I just think this will sting until the ball tips again. Just hoping our schedule is strong enough or weak enough to not have an uphill climb to the tournament. I know the team will be talented enough, but what does that mean? This drought has to end soon. That’s all I have to say guys.

From a sports perspective, this is awful. But we’re not too far from Kansas City, and that means we’re just a few hours from hugging our kids and kissing their foreheads and telling them we love them. And that will do for another day. GBR always.

  2. Wife has reservations for Indianapolis, Memphis, Salt Lake City, and Pittsburgh. Free cancellations. On Sunday, I’ll leave my in laws my credit card to get the basketball tickets, airfare if needed, and lodging if it’s a coastal destination.

At this point, I’m not sure it’s Indianapolis because Purdue will likely be there. Omaha and Memphis seem to be somewhat likely. Who knows.

To get the 4 with a loss we would need one of the following scenarios:

    1) Illinois beats Iowa + Indiana beats MSU + Wisconsin loses one or both (vs Rutgers; @ Purdue)

    2) Illinois beats Iowa + Wisconsin loses both

    3) Indiana beats Minnesota (currently up at halftime) + Minnesota beats NW + Wisconsin loses both

Crazy as it sounds, the 3 seed is still possible if we lose. Add an Iowa loss to #3 above and that’s how we’d get it.

Ok so based on that, I almost say 4 is more likely than 5. Those are reasonable, or some might say probable, scenarios…

  4. Ok so if we win Sunday, we are likely the 3 seed, but not definite.

Humor me here. If we lose Sunday what’s the most realistic scenario? 4th or 5th?

There are currently 3 teams with 8 losses and 3 teams with 9 losses. Sooo could we fall to 6 ish in a crazy scenario?

  5. Just found this from the other site. I’ll take it!

8 Games that can affect our seeding.
    256 different possibilities.
82 ways to get the 3 seed
89 ways to get the 4 seed
48 ways to get the 5 seed
37 ways to get the 6 seed
171 ways to get the double bye
85 ways to get the single bye

With a win on Sunday, we're either the 3rd or 4th seed.

With a loss on Sunday, we're anywhere from 3 to 6.

I’m just curious, with a loss would it be unlikely to stay at 4?

Wisconsin has Rutgers and at Purdue.

    Iowa has Illinois.

Minnesota has Indiana and at Northwestern.

Michigan state has vs. Northwestern and at Indiana.

Would need all of those teams to lose once or have a tie breaker over.

And since Northwestern is already ahead of us, this isn’t relevant to my question but they play Michigan state and Minnesota. Most likely they split.

I hate to be optimistic here, but it seems like we have a good shot to stay at 4, maybe even with a loss. But I haven’t run the percentages.

With Iowa’s win and NW playing at Michigan St this week, a win tomorrow would put the Huskers firmly in the hunt for a 3 seed.

I am thinking about these scenarios way too much. But I just want a four seed to avoid a bad loss and - according to everyone - we’re in if we win these last two. But when we get the double bye, all I’m going to do is look up possible opponents and path to Sunday. This is a vicious cycle.

  8. Ok, Wisconsin lost to Illinois so we’re back to a tie for 4th. Both Wisconsin and Michigan State still play Purdue so the Michigan game will have a lot on the line.

We don’t care about standings for the tournament. But we do want a double bye to avoid a bad loss and to have a shorter run needed for conference. All these games are preparing Nebraska and other bubble teams for games with high stakes.

What if Nebraska would make it to Saturday in Minneapolis and then get a win in the tournament! Dream big. - John cook lol

With the caveat that the goal is the NCAA Tournament and not BIG 10 Tournament seeding.

We need Wisconsin to win tonight. They are barely a Q1 win for us now and a loss to IU, even though it is a road game, would likely drop their NET to a Q2.

We’re in the tournament either way IMO. I am pulling for us to pass then and have one less hurdle for another (albeit secondary) objective which is getting a conference championship and auto bid. This team can win three games….we do not need Wisconsin for quad 1 unless the sky falls IMO.

I realize Nebraska was 4th and snubbed before. This isn’t about that. This is about we’re already in so might as well go for a trophy.

  10. Here’s mine:

It’s going to be me and my wife. Twin 7 yr olds only if I find a cheap deal (like, Groupon tickets to Indianapolis $40 lol).

Like Dave, I am pretty much committed to going no matter what. But I can’t buy tickets to all these places and then have to sell.

And, the closer the better, but I’ll sit in the rafters if it means I get to see “it” finally happen.

I’ll take any suggestions for this scenario as well.

  11. One thing to push this narrative 📈is NIL. We need whoever runs the ship, the Peed’s?, to give like never before to basketball. Imagine getting a Chucky or a Ware (Ok Ware is going to the nba this season guys) and what we could do. NIL can be as valuable as a pro contract at times.  Moreso NFL than NBA but the point still stands.
