Washut thinks he will redshirt next season, in order to put on some weight and get used to US basketball and more specifically the Big Ten and then be ready to start contributing during the 2022-2023 season.

I guess I feel like this is kind of bullshit misleading.

I just watched some highlights of a game they had against Sunrise. Sunrise has the #1 PG in the '21 class, and the #11 player overall in Kennedy Chandler. They have the #16 overall player in Kendall Brown. They have the #35 player in Zach Clemence. They have the #47 player in Jaden Akins. They have the #148 kid in Kenny Pohto. They have the #33 player from '22 in Grady Dick.

Sunrise Christian was up 21-11 after 1 quarter and about to boatrace Legacy Early until McGowens kind of got on track.

You sort of tuck it in there at the end, your comment about the roster disparity -- Sunrise brings Rivals 150 guys in off the bench -- but it matters. A lot. Sunrise has 5 top-50-type players. They can sell out on defense guarding McGowens knowing no one else can really hurt them too much. You can't show those numbers and suggest that it's somehow a reflection that Bryce is just a high-volume, low-efficiency shooter, when it's basically him against those guys.

If teams were able to decline free throws in the final 2 minutes, that would be interesting to see how that would change the defensive strategy of extending the last couple minutes of the game. At least at first, I’m not totally against this, because the fouling at the end of games gets ridiculously annoying.

I also wouldn’t mind bumping personal foul limits from 5 to 6.

I agree. I’m ok with holding on to 2 open scholarships this season for multiple reasons. 1) Nebraska does still have Webster and Lakes on the roster, they just don’t count against the limit, so it’s not like they are short handed. 2) Nebraska has depth for a legit 10-man rotation of really high level players in 2021-2022. It’s one thing to leave a couple scholarships open, which makes you rely on sub-par players (like under Miles), it’s another thing to leave a couple of scholarships open when you already have such talented depth.

And with the recruiting momentum Hoiberg has right now, Nebraska will be able to use those two scholarships for the 2022 class, along with the 2 scholarships that will likely open up from Walker and Lat, so Nebraska will have 4 available scholarships to string together a second consecutive really solid recruiting class (I believe Trey will use the extra year of eligibility to play another season with Bryce).

I don't think people necessarily realize just how good this squad can be in two years because we are outright not used to getting players like  wilcher or keon edwards added as transfers... and having them seem so ho hum boring.

We effectively got two top 25ish players and a BUNCH of either complimentary or highly talented ones on top of that.

If this team is going to gel into something special in 2022, you will know this year.  Or not.  We may not have gotten a high end calipari Kentucky class but this is a solid level below that.  And that's not being insulting, that's saying it's damn, damn solid.

So expectations?  At this point I think you need to see an ncaa bid or at least a late season run that comes close.  And the talent is there.

I think it's only fair to their families and friends that they team up in college somewhere that's about equi-distant from their homes. That way no one has to travel too far to watch them play.

So Traudt and Green will be playing together for Nebraska Supreme 17U. Hope they decide they want to play together for the Huskers too.

This kid's pretty good. If we're going after him, must mean we think we have room for him.

Point guard/forward? With all the big men, that class could use a point guard.

Kind of want to say he seems to be what we thought/hoped Baton would be, or still could be.

This would be an unexpected exclamation point on an already ridiculous 2021 class. Would be awesome to have him at the 4-Spot.

Nebrasketballer got a reaction from millerhusker in Who goes and who stays in 2022-23?
I’m pretty excited about the 2021-2022 season, so I havent put much thought into who will leave after 2021-2022, but Walker has already said he is staying for 2 more seasons, so he will be back for 2022-2023 and I believe Trey will stay for 2 seasons as well. Not sure what to expect with Lat, but his decision probably depends on how quickly Wilhelm develops and if he passes Lat up.

Yeah, I would love for Nebraska to add him. Plus, added benefits would be that Nebraska needs to be able to start landing top Omaha talent, to open that pipeline up, instead of letting those guys leave the state. Another side benefit could potentially be that if things don’t work out for Sallis in Spokane, for whatever reason, it probably wouldn’t hurt Nebraska to be a school close pretty close to his home and also where his high school teammate is playing ball.

If I was going to visit Ohio St, I would want to do it in the fall too, so I could get a sideline seat to a football game. They play Oregon at home on September 11. That would be an awesome game to see.

going to start counting transfers in their calculations?

Isn't it kind of absurd at this point to not count them as part of a recruiting class?  They often get recruited harder than high school kids and, most of the time, have a more immediate impact.  How are they any different in calculation than a JUCO?

    Odd.
