  1. Some (myself included) have mentioned the seeming propensity of our team to flat-out miss a number of easy lay-ups/bunnies; before maybe getting some put-backs, or seeming to find 'the range.' Laughingly, I've suggested it seems to me we are more shooting 'Toward' the basket rather than 'At' the basket, at least close-in.

Re-watching the Maryland game, it seemed to me that it could be some of our players were playing too close to, or under, the basket. In that position it is pretty hard for one to shoot 'At' the Basket; (that is, unless you are expecting to make a basket from the 'Bottom Up,' i.e. go up, through the net first; but I don't think that counts.) There is no good angle for banking a shot to go in.

Could we be getting sucked-in to playing too close to the basket? This seems to happen regardless of who the post, or cutting player is. Getting sucked-in is probably easy to do, lobs into the post seem to have to be higher and higher to keep from getting picked off, causing the post to have to crowd the base line; limiting where they can go or what they can do with the ball. OK, I've had my say, You can start :Rolf:

  2. Husker Ladies Lead by Seven at Halftime. Red-Hot from Three (10-18 vs 1-2 for MD) but not so much underneath (7-14 vs 15-25 for MD).
Treys are keeping us in the game, but we need to show up in the paint, where MD is doing a workman-like job (12 vs 24 for MD).

Anybody's Game. Will we continue to shoot lights-out beyond the arc?  Will we start showing up under the basket?  Will the refs start calling some of the fouls against the favored team?

In the tournament they have 5 averaging double digits.  I'm not sure I like the idea of trying to stop one, that in truth is not their leading scorer in the tourney.  I do, however, like the idea of boxing them out of the paint.  In my honest opinion I think the team that wins the rebounding battle wins the game.  Though game three you're now getting into who has the legs to battle and who has the legs set their feet to shoot.  Hopefully we have the fresher legs.  Of their starting five, four of them have 70+ minutes.  Our starters should be in much better shape save Jaz's 74 minutes

  From the Tournament Game Page:

Maryland’s season has been affected by injuries, as the Terps have been limited to a seven-player rotation in the Big Ten Tournament. Sellers played much of the Big Ten season while battling multiple injuries but has still averaged 15.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 5.5 assists on the year. Sellers has been dynamic, averaging 18.0 points and 7.5 assists in the tournament’s first two games.

    • Shyanne Sellers led Maryland with 25 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in the win over the Buckeyes, Jakia Brown-Turner and Brinae Alexander each contributed 19 points. Faith Masonius pitched in a big double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
    • The Terps have lost Lavender Briggs (8.7 ppg, 5.0 rpg) and freshman Riley Nelson (5.1 ppg) to injury. That duo combined for 36 points off the bench in the first meeting this season between Nebraska and Maryland in Lincoln (Dec. 31) - an 87-81 Husker win. Emma Chardon is also out for the year.

I Like the MSU TEAM!!!  They show a lot of Class!

Can't stand the Officiating Team who are Blatantly Inconsistent. 😡

With the Reputation of B1G Referees, Why doesn't the Big Ten Conference institute a program for Post-Game Critiques of the officiating to improve consistency.
