  1. in the sense that they're both undersized big men, Ed probably has close to 3 inches on Aguek. That is a world of difference
  2. That information about Chubick really changes things. I didn't think this was a huge deal to begin with, as in it will probably only affect the next 1-2 Omaha recruiting cycles for NU. It sounds like he flipped when Aguek made it known he didn't want to explore prep school as an option. He himself thought it was a good idea...he probably got mad when they made his offer conditional on his participation in prep school. Or something. Idk. That is really bizarre, through his interviews he sounded mostly like an even keeled guy, except for the whole 'all bridges are forever burned' comment.
  3. Maybe Miles should have offered to pay for said extra year of high school. While I don't like this situation, get the F off a Nebraska board. .
  4. Maybe Miles should have offered to pay for said extra year of high school.
  5. according to chubick, there have been doubts from NU staff about aguek's future with the team since the spring. Not sure why Miles didn't pull the plug on this whole thing then.
  6. I hope people don't misinterpret this as miles pulling his scholarship. miles simply gave aguek an honest evaluation, and i don't think aguek liked it. aguek is better suited at a lower d1 school where he can get a chance to play. as nice as it would be to have local kids on the team, i would rather have top 150 guys. edited - This is not that far away from pulling a scholarship
  7. He has to go prep if he wants serious recruiting exposure. His AAU days are done - and not many evaluators outside the state will take the time to come watch him against Nebraska level competition. This summer was his best chance at getting looked at, but coaches looked at him as 'taken'.
  8. According to a couple Georgetown posters he has not been healthy since suffering an injury the summer before his senior year of high school. Some guys just can't seem to avoid injuries. I'm no doctor but a hip/abdominal pelvic floor injury sounds tricky to rehab
  9. Them pulling the scholarship would not surprise me, it just means he has not developed into the player they expected. A lot of people thought his initial offer came way too early. Evaluations can get conflated a bit when a kid is already committed somewhere. If they do cut him loose let's see what interest he attracts.
  10. Is it really that uncommon for high schoolers to not take the ACT until early fall of their senior year? Most kids won't start sending in applications until December - plenty of time for those test scores to come back. I would imagine any academic issues he was experiencing have been/will be straightened out by the stalwart staff at Boys Town. That could be why he's there in the first place - and why high majors aren't being shy with their offers.
  11. At the very least, Horne's body seems more B1G-ready than Morrow's was this time last year. Actually, will Morrow ever weigh more than Horne?
  12. wow, he has an offer from buzz williams. good for him
  13. If memory serves correctly, this guy was a viral hit on youtube after a video of him and john wall going at 1 on 1 got uploaded. he was a former top recruit, very sad to see this edit: yep, here's the vid, from 2012 he entered high school a top 20 recruit, added a lot of weight and scared off most/all top programs. can't believe he died of essentially a heat stroke. unbelievable, life is too valuable
  14. well, norm and i were in agreement that, collectively, we were 'moving on'. what do i know though. I'm a man, but I'm...not 40?
  15. Ya hear that, norm? guess we're moving on...
  16. Can't tell if I'm just not in on the joke but that guy in the hat is not 6'6. That would make Jordy taller than Yao
  17. I get horrible nighttime reflux but whenever I take acid reducers before bed, I wake up with awful stomach pain. Reflux is a tricky monster
  18. TP has looked good, will admit though I've mainly been watching to see thon maker (also looks good even if he's 23)
  19. UNO is not a desirable game for Creighton....it would surprise me if Miles agreed to a game in the near future with them as well. Risk > Reward . It sucks to have to play that game now but taking a risk like that in the nonconference slate just isn't worth it when you consider the matchups you're getting from the big ten/big east conference schedule.
  20. you can be a non shooter and still play a role in the big ten. if he's athletic with a long wingspan and enjoys playing defense then he should be valuable for Miles down the road.
  21. Where did anyone get the idea that Creighton had interest? We have a scholarship open but other than that, the interest for a player like Andrew is pretty lukewarm... he is basically another Cole Huff - not necessarily a bad thing but he really doesn't fit a need for us at this point. I just found it surprising that we were connected to his recruiting. I feel that if he left NU for a bigger stage, CU wouldn't exactly jump off the page as one of his first options for an upgrade.
  22. Go to the NBA subreddit if you want to see the direct evidence. There's a lot of really weird stuff on there to show that something's up, but I don't know how a family could honestly pull off this heist. There are yearbook photos dating him into the 2010 class of a high school in Perth. The debate is now mainly hinging on whether or not he was simply a middle schooler attending ESL courses at the high school, which is completely normal for refugees. I don't think the yearbook photos carry that much weight. It's mildly questionable that he hasn't really grown much at all in the past four years, but certainly not unheard of for kids to stop growing at 15. I find it hard to believe that a kid can be scouted heavily for four years without this coming to light. I think the real question here is whether Thon's path to the NBA will inspire a bunch more highly-touted high school seniors to spend a year chilling at a prep school instead of going the one-and-done route in college. Why don't they carry weight? The same poster who uploaded the photos also uploaded a video of the yearbook to disprove any claims of photoshopping. His name is clearly seen with "Graduation 2010" in the upper left corner. Not saying that I don't agree with your mindset, I find it inconceivable as well. To be completely fair, the two cities that he lived in Australia (Perth and Sydney) have the entire length of the Outback between them and are literally on opposite ends of a continent. So maybe it isn't out of the realm of possibility that hiding such a thing was made easier by relocating as far away as possible. Also, some regular google searching today led me to discover that these rumors were circulating in NBA circles the week prior to the draft. If he is really 23, I would expect his body to be a lot more filled out, if even just naturally so. Regardless of the perception created by his youtube phase, he isn't a great athlete - he's just a 7'1 guard and moves like one. The comp for him is Giannis Antetokounmpo, but nba scouts feel as if Thon is still an incredibly massive project with a raw feel for the game. If he's 23 and still being described by scouts in such a way, I don't like his prospects for significant improvement
