Mark Boehm is going to "retire" or "resign" soon from what I hear. Nice guy, but he is going to have to shoulder some of the responsibility of this.

Maybe because it's fair to point out that TOs hires haven't exactly set the world on fire   You can perceive it as being shoved in your face.    It can also be perceived as a valid talking point.

It it also gets brought up because there is clear animosity directed towards SE when he wasn't the guy who hired the guy to put us in this situation

I have to laugh. I for one don't give a damn about Eichorst. But some act like he's the devil because he had the nerve to fire a football coach hired by Osborne. People bring up Eichorst's hires to bash him and in the same breath praise Osborne. Osborne made lackluster hires. For the life of me, I don't know why some can't admit that. And as you can see...it really irks sensitive posters like Norm. Keeping Miles around after next year because Eichorst is the AD should not be a thing. If it is, the athletic department will be in shambles soon.

It's undeniable.    We have to be able to discern TO the football coach from TO the AD.   They are not one in the same.    One deserves reverence.  The other is very fair to question

You mad Normy? Kiss your mother with that mouth? BTW, I will continue to point out that Osborne had failed hires. It's a real thing. Deal with it tough guy.

Your last paragraph is my point.   Never said he was flawless.   But funny now that he is transferring, only his flaws show.    6 hours ago, the 7 game stretch he missed, was a huge down turn for the program.   Fast forward 7 hours and .....good riddance

Here we go! Now Ed turns into a bad basketball player. But, had he returned he would be all world! Not to mention many on here used him as an excuse for another long losing streak under Miles. Better question...why in the world is Miles recruiting a kid that can't pass/shoot/dribble? On second thought, our offense under Miles answers that question.

    Why is that so shocking?

Bo:   Improved over Callahan in terms of wins and losses.    Acted liked a baby when he couldn't even produce top 25 teams let alone Saban type teams
Miles:    You feel good about where we are headed?
Erstad:   Improvement over Anderson, still a middle of the pack team in a middle of the pack (at best) baseball conference with tremendous facilities.

Not exactly a good definition of success there.   Had s couple of guys who the best thing you can say for them, was that they weren't bad

He should have never felt sorry enough for Frank Solich to tell him that he could be the next head coach. It's all been downhill since.

So, you are hoping we fail? Weird. Best case Miles pulls a rabbit out of his ass and wins. But, if that doesn't happen I'm really hoping the next guy succeeds. I'm not going to wish he fails because of the guy who hired him. That's odd.

Not sure what that has to do with Tim Miles failing(Osborne hire.) Again...I'll take my chances on Eichorst getting lucky rather than having to sit thru another season of bad basketball and rocky offseason.

I mean his last men's basketball hire has been to 2 sweet 16's in his 6 years.  I could think of worse fates.

Alot of the players don't like Miles once they get here. It's that simple. (And yes that is based on info from a friend that is close with multiple players from the last few years). Its the reason that Nebraska consistently has key/core players leave each season before their eligibility is up. Do other programs around the country have players transfer? Yes, but it is not common to have arguably your best returning players transferring multiple seasons in a row. I know the Husker-goggles crowd is going to blast me for this post, but at some point people have to open their eyes and stop making excuses for garbage.

And the guy sandwiched between them hired Pelini, Erstad, and Miles. 0 for 3 at this point. Tough decade or so for NU athletics.

One of the really sad things in all of this is Jessica Shepard's lasting legacy within this program.

She came in as one of the most decorated recruits we've ever had; she'll leave here as perhaps the most loathed player in program history.

You can argue whether that's deserved or not, but you'll have to admit it's probably what a lot of fans are going to think.

It's manifestly obvious, for example, that she was one of the "ten players and staff" who went to the AD complaining about Yori's practices being so hard.  Accusations, by the way, that others in a position to know have said weren't fair, accurate or true.  She also appears to be the person about whom it was rumored that she refused to raise her hands on defense in practice even after consistent correction by the coaches.

Second, it's not hard at all to put two and two together and come to the conclusion that Shepard had something to do with Natalie Romeo's decision to leave the program.  Was there some rivalry and jealousy there?  Perhaps.  Seems probable.  Her catty public comments after Natalie left were something she could and should have kept to herself but they provide a window into her mindset.

And so the disaster that was this season is something many fans probably think Jessica either caused or helped significantly to bring about.  And now that the program is tanking (because of the bullcrap she, in part, appears to have caused) she's getting out while the getting is still good for her.

Most players leave this program with either applause at graduation or a "well, sorry it didn't work out here, but best of luck to you in the future" reaction.

Jess Shepard will probably stand alone on the list of players that fans will remember with disdain.  And that's sad.

This should come as no surprise to absolutely anyone.

This is a girl that went to two high schools and had agreed to attend a third.  She was going to attend Lincoln Southwest, then switched to Lincoln Southeast a month before her Freshman year and then went to Fremont.  Now while the Fremont move was related to a parent getting a new job, there's still that history.

She was one of the least in shape players I had ever seen play at Nebraska and we will be ultimately much better off without.  And doesn't anyone figure she was behind Yori getting the door?

Im hoping for the same as well idk if I actually posted this or not but he should have red shirted. He was not physically ready which I believe caused him to struggle and have confidence issues.
But I've seen this story before
It was pretty much the exact same with his freshman yr of highschool as far as his play and development and kinda team as a whole.
Idk how this translates to college but sophomore yr they won a regional title ? Im expecting big things next yr

Did he not have to re-recruit them here after Doc was fired.  I mean they could have asked for a release and gone elsewhere correct?

Does that change the point he was trying to make.
Go ahead Sam and get busy writing your coaches on the hot seat articles. Fan those flames of the "greatest fans in 'merica".
I know that you are sad he didn't get fired this year as fired coaches and the subsequent coaching search sells newspapers and generates clicks.

Most of you guys are overthinking this.

    1.  Jeriah is a great kid who did some very good things for us in some important games this year.
    2.  Jeriah's parents are good folks who raised a fine young man, and they should be proud.
    3.  It doesn't always work out.  Nothing personal for either side.
    4.  ...

Guards:  Glynn, Evan, Anton, James, Nana
Forwards:  Michael, Ed, Isaac, Isaiah, Jack
    Center:  Jordy Tshimanga

I think a redshirt year will do Jeriah a lot of good.  I think he'll be a good player somewhere.  I think he would have had to wait in line for a long while to crack the rotation on this particular roster.  (I've been saying for a long time that we have a glut of players in the 6'6" to 6'8" range.)  No shame in that to either side.

Best of luck to him and I salute him and his family and wish them all the best.

Nothing further need be said about either side.  Everyone can and should follow the coach's and player's example and take the total high road.  No aspersions need be cast.
