He was very good in last Friday's scrimmage. He was second leading scorer behind Quaran. White just  barely beat the Red. The teams weren't evenly split either. Red had most people's projected top 8. This is a very deep team. Can't wait for tomorrow night.

Gonna have to disagree. Above average coach. Shit recruiter. Definitely hard not to like regardless of the opinion of his coaching 😃

I watched the video from Doc's presser last night. It was very clear he has been hired to be the defensive coordinator and doesn't expect to be significantly involved in recruiting.

I would assume that means he gets the defensive scout and game plan for every game.  Which makes a lot of sense, because I think he did that at Nebraska, too.  I don't think he relied significantly on his assistants for that.  And I think that was one of Doc's downfalls.  He did not delegate very well from what I could see.

I watched a lot of practices under Doc, though, and I can tell you he was extremely detail-oriented in scouting opposing teams and sharing that info with his players.  He knew where they got their points. He could spout out stats about how many fast break baskets the opposing team would get during a typical game. How many threes they'd take, who'd take them and who they didn't need to worry about taking them. They might spend some time practicing how to defend certain types of actions and he could tell his players exactly how many times a game the opponent would run it and what percent of their points came from running it.

I can remember him telling the guys "If we can stop this, they cannot beat us." And he was generally right.

Look at Sadler's initial staff when hired. Wes Flanigan is an assistant at Auburn helping out Bruce Pearl and Tony Benford got a head coaching gig and did pretty well at LSU as their top assistant and interim head coach.

Doc had a good plan when he first got here which lead to a quality recruiting class. He just didn't get the assistant salary pool to retain Flanigan and Benford.

I've been told just now by someone legitimately in-the-know, who would be in a position to have had unfiltered, candid conversations with Tim directly, that the above statement is not true.

Careful, because it isn't true.  I can assure you that all isn't "good" between Miles and Moos, and that once fired, Miles is not ever coming back to NU to work in another capacity.   The stuff that shows up on here at times like this is ridiculous.

I don't ever want the AD to decline an opportunity for our players to play if they want to keep playing.    They earned that right.
There shouldn't be a category that says "screw current players so that future players may be better".

Anyway, I have my NIT tickets and Mrs. HB and I will be there living the dream and providing our full support.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. Just because he got a vote of confidence publicly doesn't mean he will be allowed to make that decision.  Bounds will be making that decision.

Who is to say Moos will even be allowed to make that decision.  It might be taken out of his hands at that time IF he is still here.

A lot of that is on him. He can firm up that ground this season. I get why Moos wouldn't want to give him a long term deal. His tenure here has been more volatile than it has been steady. As much as I maybe disagree with how this whole thing was handled doesn't mean there isn't some merit to it. It's a prove it season for Miles. I do believe he wants to be here and that he wants to be the guy here for a long time. He gets his chance to show he's the guy for the job this season.

After seeing the news that he is getting a 1 year extension, maybe Miles was the holdup and didn't want a 1 year deal...  Maybe he was wanting something longer and wouldn't sign the 1 year deal.

I think you guys are forgetting how $$$ Sadler was on some BOBs in late-game situations. He also had some great sets for lay-ups - specifically one for Diaz - in late-game situations.

Devaney was pretty damn good as an AD.  Hired a lot of really good coaches., and one who is in GOAT discussions.    The job eventually morphed to require bean-counting, human resources, and all sorts of administrative stuff, but the Bobfather had a bunch of people skills and good instincts.  He served us well for many a year.

Unneccessary middle management with hefty paychecks, Sadler extension.  Best hire looks like a guy who was a good coach but great asshole.   He was the best of the group, but it’s not like he was pushing all the right buttons

I really don't believe some folks here appreciate what's been going on behind the scenes with our basketball program. Let's start with the aggressive pursuit of Dana Altman, which our AD has denied, and many here believed him. Sorry, but that's nonsense. As I posted when this was going on a couple of weeks ago, Nebraska fans are not entitled to full disclosure from the AD about what's going on behind the scenes with the basketball program. He was asked about Altman, flat denied it (lying in the process), and I have no problem with that. It's not the type of information that needs to be admitted publicly. Altman turned us down, so it ended there. The AD is not going to admit that publicly. If you took his denial at face value, you may not understand how the game is played. If you believe Nebraska didn't make a very lucrative offer to Dana Altman, you've bought into a lie.

Tim Miles and his staff were very aware of the offer to Altman. They're very well aware that the relationship between Nebraska and Miles is not a long-term partnership, but rather a temporary alliance out of convenience and, in reality, only set to continue for a while longer because the AD hasn't found "his guy" yet. Tim knows this because the AD has been more than honest with him in this regard. Tim knows the score and his assistants know the score. He understands that this entails the possibility that some will seek greener pastures. How could they not be expected to do so? He likely has encouraged them to take care of their business and do what they have to do.

If you like Tim Miles and believe he's the future of this basketball program, you're entitled, but just know that the AD doesn't share your perspective. Tim's on borrowed time and is only still here because the home run hire the AD seeks has not been secured. Nebraska under Bill Moos is not prepared to accept a future in which the program continues to be a doormat in college basketball. I understand we just came off a very successful year by Nebraska standards, but the old standards that many here seem to accept as the appropriate reference are not considered to be acceptable by the people currently in charge of this athletic department. They've set their sights much higher and are no longer prepared to accept sustained mediocrity. Tim is a .500 coach at Nebraska who has not built anything sustainable from year to year.

Some people believe that Miles and his staff are somehow "in limbo" as a result of the slow pace of Moos' progress in extending a new contract to Miles. While this may be true to an extent, there is very little uncertainty among the parties involved about the fact that the AD is not a Tim Miles fan and does not consider him to be the future of this program. So, there's no "in limbo" situation here. Kenya Hunter knew he was on a path that will soon hit a dead end, so he chose a different path. That's called being smart and taking care of your family. Anyone who has resentment toward Kenya has not correctly assessed the situation in my opinion.

I respectfully disagree.  This should be a thread.  Miles, in his 6 years at NU, is .500.  2 winning seasons, 1 NCAA Tourney berth, 1 NIT berth, zero post season victories and 0-2 in the B1G Tourney as the 4th seed.  Why can't his record, and therefore his future here, be discussed?

Maybe you've talked to Moos.  I have no idea.  I do know Miles doesn't have tenure.  It's not his call if he wants to be here next year or not.

I have never understood standing at an athletic event when seats are available....For great plays, sure...but the entire game...

if you can only cheer loud while standing, you are doing it wrong.

I physically can stand...i am about 6 feet tall, so I usually can see what I need, but I know when I have taken my daughter to a game where everyone stands (she is 5 feet 7), she often can't see the game, because she is shorter than those in front of us.

When I am at games where you may have to stand because others are standing in front of us, I try to only stand when I can't see otherwise....To me, it is impolite to those behind you, to stand....

    I just don't get it.
