Uh, that didn't suck. On either end.

jayschool got a reaction from BigTate in Nana to Redshirt?
Meh. With X coming in and similar recruits in the 2019 and 2020 classes, Nana will either earn playing time or he won't. I know we all pined for Brandon Ubel's fifth season, but hopefully we're in a different place going forward regarding the number of players with real B1G potential. Here's to Nana fulfilling his potential in four years!

They were credited with a couple steals though.

As I was sitting watching the game and listening to the young family behind me trying to keep their youngest entertained. They do a great job by the way 4 under the age of 7 I think the mom said, second year behind me and they are wonderful.
Any how that made me look at two of my three that were with me. I started bringing them, one at a time then all three, more than 20 some years, as my oldest is 29 and I pretty sure I started him when he was at least 3 or 4.
But then it kind of hit me that this is my 52 year of Nebraska Basketball, but will be the first without my Mom. She passed in April after suffering a stroke last October. She is the one that started taking me to games when I was 4 because my dad worked nights and I think I might have needed to burn off some energy back then. I went to games with her until I was in Jr. High and started going with friends. Mom never went to games with me after that but I know that she and Dad watched them on T.V.
I just want to say "Thanks Mom for starting my love of Nebraska Basketball" I know the day when we do win that first NCAA game that I will think back to me making Mom announce my name and I would run into the my bed room and jump into bed.
"Starting at forward, a 4'6" Junior from Lincoln Nebraska..."

I think I liked the way we did it in the Exhibition Games better.

I was thinking this morning... how much I would love a 2 day BTN Season Kickoff. Every game broadcast by BTN starting at 8 AM on the first day of the basketball season. I would totally watch! If you take everyones first games, the schedule could look something like this.
Day 1 and Day 2 would look like... All Times CST
8 AM-- Rutgers Vs. CCNY
10:30 AM-- Maryland-- Stoney Brooke
1 PM-- Indiana-- Indiana State
3:30 PM-- Illinois-- Southern University
6 PM-- Purdue Vs. SIUE Edwardsville
8:30 PM-- Minnesota Vs. USC Upstate
11 PM-- Nebraska Vs. Eastern Illinois
8 AM-- Penn State Vs. Campbell
10:30 AM--Ohio State-- Robert Morris
1 PM-- Michigan-- Central Michigan (I had to exclude opener vs North Florida since they would have already played MSU)
3:30 PM-- Wisconsin-- South Carolina State
6 PM-- Northwestern Vs. Loyola Maryland
8:30 PM-- Michigan State Vs. North Florida
11 PM-- Iowa Vs. Chicago State

Palmer is definitely a surprise--an enormous, fringe NBA talent surprise. Amazing get.
Allen is exactly what I thought he would be. He has an unteachable talent for scoring the ball and will go down as one of our best guards ever.
I'm very encouraged by what I see with Copeland. He's got three games under his belt and has been contributing more and more each game. 12pts on 5-12 shooting isn't bad. I think his 3p% will climb and have no problem with him taking that shot. I'm thrilled that his athleticism is the same level as it was when he was healthy in prior seasons. His full stat line: 12pts, 4rbs, 3st, 1blk, 0 TOs is pretty darned good for game three. I think he'll get better and better.

That, and we're playing without four of our best players:
Watson
Roby
Gill
Trueblood

You're right. That's tonight's takeaway.
18 points, 4 assists. 5-7 from field. 2-4 from deep. 3 turnovers, most early. Then he just took it to the hoop.
We don't want to play without Watson for long, but Allen can help a great deal at the 1 or 2.

Not sure if you've picked up on this subtlety, but James Palmer Jr. is pretty good at basketball.

Fun fact: Fort Hays State is black and gold, and named the Tigers because an early president was a Missouri alumnus. So, boo, FHSU?

Yeah, but it's Fort Hayes State...you can toss out the record books in those in-state rivalry games!

The banked-in 3-point tradition at PBA for opponents continues. Three in a half is a record, though.

I hate to draw parallels between eras, but here goes. I remember when the 90/91 squad hung 100 on Illinois @ the San Juan shootout and everyone was like WHOA, where did that come from? (Illinois was coming off a recent Final Four) but here we are again. No one NOT sitting on a Lincoln bar stool expects us to do squat, but this team is gonna be sneaky good and there will be a handful of WTF moments during the Non-Conference schedule. Bank on it.

jayschool got a reaction from ShortDust in uneblinstu's post game chatter: Vol 10, prologue - Mississippi State
Jordy:
11 points, 6 boards, 1 block, 1 assist in 16 minutes.
Project that out to 24 minutes per game, and that's 16.5 points, 9 boards, 1.5 blocks, 1.5 assists.
I'll take it.
