It would be just our luck, though, right? Iowa wins this, we beat Iowa, but get no ratings bump, play in the semis and lose a tight one to MSU, and we hear: "They haven't beaten anybody, and that Michigan victory now isn't worth anything."
I know, right? Why not St. John's in the tourney? They kicked our tail and have wins over Duke, 'Nova, Marquette and mighty St. Joe's. If all that matters are wins, there are few programs with that resume.
(So tired. Must rest.)
I know this is slightly beating a dead horse, but I'm watching the Gators school Alabama, and the bored commentators start launching into a discourse on which conferences are best. They've made up their mind on data points from 10 to 15 weeks ago. It's tiresome.
Talk radio yesterday in Cedar Rapids with hosts and Mike Hlas of the Gazette. I paraphrase:
"Nebraska probably has the most to prove in the tournament. I mean, I don't get how a 13-5 Big Ten record isn't enough, but that's what the pundits are saying, so they have the most motivation, which means they have a great chance to win a couple of games and maybe the whole thing."
