  1. Maryland has three statewide organizations for our high school athletics and 6.1 million population: The Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association has more than 200 member schools over four classes in basketball. Two organization serve the private/parochial schools: The Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association is for boys private school athletics (lots of all-male schools). They have three "conferences" for the 30 member schools and state champions are named in each conference. The Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland is for girls private school athletics (lots of all-female schools). The basketball championship format is the same as the MIAA's.
  2. I asked Chat GPT. Stupid bot. Can you tell me what kind of impact Rienk Mast will have on the University of Nebraska's men's basketball team in 2023-24? I'm sorry, but as an artificial intelligence language model, I don't have access to current or future events beyond my knowledge cutoff date of September 2021. Additionally, even if I did have access to such information, predicting the specific impact that an individual player will have on a sports team in a future season is highly uncertain and dependent on a variety of factors such as player development, team dynamics, and competition. It's best to wait and see how the season unfolds to assess the impact that Rienk Mast may have on the University of Nebraska's men's basketball team in 2023-24.
  3. Hunter just wants to make sure he won't get fooled again when he picks a college. He's just getting in tune with his needs. So he's going mobile. If he can get a big payday and we get an NCAA win, I'd call that a bargain. I won't give up hope until the song is over. My wife agrees.
  4. So was I after the interview: https://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/fl-xpm-1988-06-25-8802060773-story.html
  5. Probably not a good time for a Roger Brooke Taney joke, though.
  6. How does that 89 percent FT clip adapt to the apparent jet stream that whips through PBA when we shoot?
  7. We'll start playing regular-season games in California soon enough, so we have that going for us over 'Nova and St. John's.
  8. Then there's the Stivrins Conundrum, in which the entire family supports and has attended UNL, including an all-American middle blocker. But Alex, the basketball player with whom I graduated from Lincoln East High School, did the double F-U to UNL by attending both CU and CU. Our Spartan reunions still bristle with tension.
  9. My first wife is from Winnetoon and attended Creighton High.
  10. I have a cousin who attended Creighton, and he cheers for Nebraska in every sport, and is gracious during the basketball season. He's an exemplary Jaysker, as is his brother who graduated from UNK and now lives in Omaha and has CU season tickets. I get it. They don't hate the Huskers, they just root for Creighton. My first real encounter with an annoying Jaysker was at the 2016 football game in Lincoln versus Purdue. After the game, I'm discussing the coming basketball season with another cousin, a UNL grad. Some d-bag in a red polo pipes in, uninvited, and says, "I root for the only team in the state that matters." "Oh, yeah?" I ask, knowing the inevitable answer. "Creighton. Nebraska sucks." And there you have it. F Crayton.
  11. Steve Fisher took over Michigan for the 1989 NCAA Tournament after Bill Frieder was forced out by AD Bo Schembechler because Frieder announced he would coach at Arizona State the next season. In an NCAA Tournament and Final Four that I covered, Fisher took the Wolverines to the national championship. While it's true that Fischer never won another title with the Wolverines, he made two more title games and won 185 games in seven-plus seasons. In another interesting Fisher note, he went six seasons at San Diego State before registering his first winning Mountain West season, finishing at .500 or worse again only when the Aztecs went 9-9 in his final season, 2016-2017. Sometimes, you're successful immediately. Sometimes, it takes a while.
  12. Have we heard what the new conference schedule might look like in a 16-team league? Currently, there are 140 conference games that serve as "inventory" for the various networks. Do they increase that to 160 by keeping the 20-game slate? Has that been released? If they were to go back to an 18-game slate, that would be 144 "inventory" games for the networks and maybe a little break in the conference grind. Play everybody once, and then play three teams once more.
  13. Can we NIL the whole team to Lincoln? Of course, once they get here, they'll go 3-17 in the conference, and get beat by North Dakota or some shit.
  14. From February 2023, John Tonje explains why he loves CSU so much:
