Maybe I am being too optimistic, but Fred strikes me as a guy doesn’t want to be seen as a quitter.

Iowa State should make the phone call but I see him shutting it down quickly.

If for some reason he did leave, I would call up Craig Smith VERY fast and see if he would come in.

I have mixed feelings on this.

Yvan for example- I would love for him to stick around and grow and learn... but the eye test tells me he just isn’t that naturally gifted. If he is open to learning and taking a lower level role, then sure.. happy to have him stick around but I don’t think he is ever going to be a major Minute guy.

Stevenson seems like a good dude who is not a bad guy off the bench. Happy if he is ok with being a 7-10 minute guy.

Wood- no idea on him. Again, if he is ok with just chilling and growing, I am cool with that.


I like the pieces we have coming in but certainly wouldn’t be against getting on the transfer market. I am ok with losing all three of the above if it means getting in more needed talent(PG/shooters)

Stevenson showed us some effort but I won’t lose any sleep over him leaving.

I would be very ok to lose a few guys if that opens up spots for a true PG(transfer) and some depth.

Not trying to pile on this kid, but I think if we did a list of things he can do on the court, it would be smaller than the list of things he struggles with.

Yvan is tall... that is about the extent of his basketball resume.

Everyone’s heights are fabricated, so it all works out. He isn’t the tallest 5 in the league but he isn’t really what I would consider short either.

When I made the comment about being tall it was in relation to normal folk.

I think they were honest on where they thought Cross would fit in and if he wanted a better path it might be elsewhere. It does feel like Cross would have been fine being here if he was a part of the future.

Exactly. I wish we could gain some stability or consistency but do you really want the consistency to be what we saw last year?

Fred put it together with a rag tag. In my opinion the only guys I really wanted back(who played)based on talent was Cam, Yvan and maybe Cross for depth.

I am a bit higher on Cross than some but he struck me as a 10 minute guy unless he really changed his body.

If he truly is a 2020 guy, I am very intrigued how the team would run minutes with him/Yvan/Walker/Mayen. 
 
It would allow for you to have true balance at the 4/5.
 
You can then play guys like Cross/Thor at the 3 or if you want to flip the lineup around you can have a ton of versatility with more true depth.
 
 

I am most intrigued to see what Hoiberg does with the potential of 1-2 more scholarships opening up.
 
My guess is he adds either a PG if Mack leaves or he adds two more guys who will have to sit out.
 
I kind of forget that a lot of these dudes arent use to the major minutes they are now getting. 
 
I really hope that guys like Cross/Yvan are all in because I honestly think both can be used in better spots next year and less minutes which should help on their bodies.
