Sounds to me like I am perfect to play point for the Huskers.... I have been following this regiment most of my life.

It might just be me but this is super awesome to me because we technically recruited a freshman who has a whole season of conditioning, playing time in a good league and strength conditioning at the college level. 4 years of eligibility is a big deal!!!  It’s like having an evolved Pokémon without all the leveling up (sorry to the non-nerds and old people on here.)

Ty Ty Washington and Tyson Walker would be at the top of my wishlist, but Nebraska doesn’t have a shot with either of them. There doesn’t seem to be any high level high school prospects out there that day Nebraska has any actual shot with. So 2 players that I am crossing my fingers for that there seems to be some actual possibility with are CJ Wilcher and Xavier Pinson. As far as Centers go, at this point, Nebraska doesn’t seem to have any shot with any high level high school players or transfers, so if they take a Center with one of the 4 open scholarships, then it will likely be a high school prospect that will need to redshirt and spend at least 1 year of development before being ready to get on the court.

I usually try not to judge kids who transfer because often times there are so many other things going on that we don’t see or ever hear about.

With one and done/ transfers, coaching has to be tough. You try to find your core group and run with it.

That is one reason why I am excited about Fred’s team next year. As long as nothing goes funky, we should have the core back with a few additional nice pieces. A top 8 finish in the B1G is not outlandish.

    1. Who the hell else is going to be on my team from year to year? I plan on being here 3-4 years. This is my team, my family, the people I am going to spend the most time with. Is every year going to be like Freshman Orientation at the dorm? You say this like you feel this is exclusive to Nebraska. The turnover is everywhere. In fact, regardless of your plan to stay here for 3-4 years, odds are that you'd be transferring (or "shown the door") yourself. I suspect most of the kids in the transfer portal were planning on staying at their respective schools for the long haul. Plans change.
    2. Are you committed to developing me and letting me learn/grow? Or am I going to be shown the door after year 1-2 because I did not come in completely ready-made? Are you asking Coach if he's dedicated to being a coach? Really? And I suspect if Coach wanted you on his team enough to be recruiting you that he would tell you what you wanted to hear.  Coaches do this all the time, then turn out to be different people than they are when they're recruiting kids. Austin Reaves went to Wichita State, and once he got there he realized he absolutely HATED Coach Marshall.  You think Coach Marshall gave Austin the impression he was so hate-able sitting around the kitchen table or when Reaves was on an official visit?
    3. Will I be surrounded by high character guys? Or are you going to be brining a bunch of dudes in who have been shown the door at other places? Are you trying to determine the roster, or are you going to leave that up to the coach? Are you going to be calling sets and running practices as well?
    4. Am I going to be recruited-over every single year? I understand the job is to bring in the best players you can and build the best team you can. But I'm not feeling a lot of confidence when I notice you've contacted EVERY SINGLE KID IN THE TRANSFER PORTAL. Every coach (well, every coach who's worth a damn) is going to try to over-recruit his roster every year. To require your coach to not try to recruit a better player than you are is misguided at best.

My guess is if we add a guy like this, Stevenson will leave.

Don’t know a ton about Wilcher but curious how he can play next to the McGowens? Also I am all for a guy with a killer mentality but we need someone who is willing to at least think of passing occasionally and not playing hero ball.

No thanks. Marcus Carr plays wayyyy to much hero ball. He makes Teddy Allen look pass first.

I get he is a talented guy but he isn’t a team guy in the slightest.

Maybe I am being too optimistic, but Fred strikes me as a guy doesn’t want to be seen as a quitter.

Iowa State should make the phone call but I see him shutting it down quickly.

If for some reason he did leave, I would call up Craig Smith VERY fast and see if he would come in.
