I tweeted with Shelby Mast who is the BracketWag guy to make this happen.  Totally taking credit for it.  I mean Derrick, the Sam's and Keisei get some credit too.  It's a more accurate description of our current state!

I think Keisei showed you play and you score when you move with purpose and cut.  The ball movement and cutting improved as the game went on.  Some was Boston College tiring, but I hope some of it was because they saw it led to buckets.  Also helps when our shooting spreads out the defense.  Wilcher and Keisei both hitting makes us pretty darn tough.

I came to the realization yesterday that I have no emotional investment in Fred. Tim, Doc...I was emotionally invested in them to where I could give them the benefit of the doubt. Logically I could tell myself it was for the best to move on but emotionally I felt those guys were bought into this school as much as any of us.

It's just not there with Fred... It's just a business decision at this point and that's why for me it's not difficult at all.

I empathize a lot with Verge.  It's hard to pull up or pass when you know you can get around whomever is guarding you.  I used to be this way in intramurals.

Nobody's asking for a miracle next year. If we can get to 7-8 conference wins and be competitive most of the rest of the games, maybe we squeeze out an NIT bid. Maybe not. However, our seniors next year appear to be Webster, and maybe Thor and Green. None of them may start, though Webster could play significant minutes, starter or not. Here's a rotation-plus:

Webster, Sr. Banton, So. Allen, Jr. King, Jr. Stevenson, Jr. Walker, Jr. Mayen, Jr. Ouedraogo, So. Thor, Sr. Cross, So. Green, Sr.
That's 11 deep, so a couple of those players are likely to see only spot minutes. If you look closely, that's the kind of experience we had in 2017-2018, when we won 13 conference games — lots of juniors, lots of transfers, raw young big men. Would anyone have put Palmer or Petteway on all-conference teams before they played their first games here? Again, I'll be happy with 7-13 or 8-12 in conference, but to dismiss the team because of transfers and youth, that's premature.

Replace Green, Thor and Webster with Tominaga, Sallis and Whitt, turn all of those juniors into seniors, and add a legit big man in Sanogo, that team enters 2021-2022 with a chance to contend. I see the plan in effect. It has worked here, to a lesser extent, with a coach who doesn't have Hoiberg's pedigree of success in doing the exact thing at another university.

It's tough to lose a game like this tonight, but I thought tonight was the first time I saw a team I could enjoy watching. So far this season, I've only been watching because their jerseys say they play for the school I cheer for. As Nebraska basketball fans we know what it looks like for a team to play hard, even if they come up short. Even if we come up short on talent, most nights, the opponent was gonna earn it. That's the foundation. They have to at least do that. They didn't do that much before tonight. There were a few games I didn't get to watch, so perhaps it happened in those games, but tonight, they played harder than Indiana for most of the night. If get the message that needs to be the calling card, they'll win some games this year. Hopefully this isn't an abberration.

    - Loved what we saw from Thor. I hope this lights the fire under Green when he comes back, too.
    - They made some big shots in some big moments. There's more talent on this roster than people think.
    - Burke had a great game. Cheatham came up in some big spots, too.
    - Thought Ouedrago showed flashes of why the coaches are so high on him.

I left highly encouraged after tonight. Here's to more efforts like this one.

And Nebraska previously scored 90+ in two straight games, which hadn't happened since the 1999-2000 season. Also around the same time-frame that NU last won a holiday tourney !!

Hoiberg has also been attempting to recruit players to Nebraska since February, including at least one McDonald's All-American, sources say.

HuskerPower #nato73 reacted to Nebrasketball1979 in Thomas Allen to transfer
I couldn't agree more that he made the smart move.  Thomas Allen is a good kid and I can say this confidently after a personal interaction I had with him after the Butler game.  As a lot of you probably know, about 30 minutes after home games a lot of the players come out of the locker room to see friends, family or to sign autographs for kids.  We were tipped off to this nugget last year after the UTSA game.  My 9 year old couldn't have been more thrilled to meet his favorite players.  My son and I drive back for a game once a year but made a second trip this year over his spring break to see the NIT game. One player he had never gotten a chance to meet during the three games we had seen in person, including Butler, was his favorite player - Isaiah Roby.   We were meandering around the players tunnel a good 45 minutes after the Butler game and the security guard told everyone that was left that the Arena was closing in 10 minutes.  The security guard and I got in a conversation and I was explaining to him that we were from Colorado and my son was hoping to meet Isaiah.  We were told that there were other NIT media obligations for certain members of the team and that most players wouldn't be coming out.  Well, Thomas Allen was standing pretty close by and happened to hear part of the conversation as he didn't have the same media obligations since he didn't play.  He asked me who my son was trying to meet and I told him Isaiah.  He whipped out his phone and called Isaiah on the spot and asked him where he was because "there was a kid from Denver that came all the way out to the game to meet him".  Isaiah was getting treatment on his legs but told Thomas that we was more than happy for him to bring me and my son back so that he could meet him.  Thomas escorted us back to the locker room and my son got the opportunity to meet his favorite player:

Whatever Thomas Allen decides to do is ok in my book.  Coaches can leave on their own or get fired and the kids are stuck either having to play for a new coach they don't know or potentially lose a year by transferring.  I hope to see Thomas back in a Husker uniform but wish him nothing but the best wherever he goes.  I'll be a fan of his wherever he is playing.

I should also add that Roby couldn't have been any more generous with his time.  He talked to my son for a few minutes, signed his poster, and certainly didn't have to take time out of his treatment.  One thing I can say about every player we've met and quite honestly, we've met just about everyone over our past 3 trips is that all of those young men on the team were very respectful and gracious with the time they gave the hoard of kids after each game.  I think this is a testament to Coach Miles and the character of the players he brought into Lincoln.

When Tim first got here I took my son to the open scrimmage down in Lincoln.  When the scrimmage was over and everyone got in the autograph line, my son and I were literally the last people in line.  My son wanted to tough it out so we waited.

By the time we made it to the tables to meet the team, coach had left because he had family in town and it was getting late.  It was disappointing but I understood.  Someone asked me for my contact info so I gave it to them, not really expecting anything.

A week later I received a padded envelope from the university.  I opened it up and inside was a miniature replica of the court with a nice handwritten message on it from coach thanking my son and I for coming down.  I was really surprised he went through the trouble for just a fan he would likely never meet in person.  That spoke volume to me about how much he cared about the fans.  That’s a big part of why I am loyal to Tim.  He’s a class act.

Watching the replay of last night's game and he's excited as anybody about Trueblood's performance.  Here's a guy that is personally invested in our school.  I certainly don't mean to say other players aren't, but his off-court demeanor speaks volumes even though his career is over.  Thanks again, Isaac, and all of our seniors!

That was an awesome game and night.  Great crowd, into it all night.  Butler a bunch of chippy thugs.  #5 ran his mouth all night.   Man that was fun.

i'm gonna always remember the last 10 days.   Just remarkable.  It's not gonna change anything, but to see a team come together against ridiculous odds and fight, claw and scratch for each other will always be a good memory for them, and for many of our fans.    So many cliches fit.  So proud of these guys.  And proud to blow away the other NIT venues in attendance.  Anyone who says this is meaningless struggles to understand sports, and life.
