My favorite play of that game was with ~:50 left and the game entirely in hand, JL jumps a passing lane and gets a tip, then dives for the loose ball.

When players can eliminate having context determine their habits and effort you end up with a good team.

Of all sad things that happen in spring, the saddest is Kinkaider Brewing stops selling Snow Beast. (sigh)

Although they did come out with Bangarang, which appears to be a nod to our very own @Kent Pavelka.

IMHO, they should have it on tap during basketball season at PBA.

If anyone on this board is affiliated with Kinkaider Brewing, just know Norm is a fan.

Which call?  The one where the Wisconsin guy jumps on Walker to get a jump ball?  The one where the ref by the Wisconsin bench overrules a charge call?  The one where the ball goes off Wisconsin, but they don't overturn it?  The one where Verge gets a T for looking back at the ref?  The one where Davidson runs over Kobe, and they call a block?

Considering we were without Bryce and lost Trey for the 2nd half and playing 8 on 5 most of the game, all against a Top 10 team on their senior day , it's the most unlikely win since.....?

I vote for 1982 at #1 Missouri. Kent P remembers that one. 😄

Absolutely unreal, especially considering where this team was 10 days ago.

Ben Sasse is a true Nebraskan.  He used the term "jackwagon" at the Supreme Court Hearing.

Trigger warning: For those who don't like "next year" threads, that's what this one is, so you can check out now and go on to something else if you don't like talking about stuff down the road.

OK, so Fred got his first 2020 commit, and the kid is a player. Has an interesting life story (some might say tragic) and he's taken an unusual path to get here, but there's no doubting he's a dude who can put the ball in the hoop.

His first team, WVU, is ranked. His second team, WSU, is 4th in others receiving votes. And my understanding is he was projected to start for WSU this year. So, good enough to start for a team that's on the cusp of being ranked. That says quite a bit right there.

His stats from WVU are misleading. He didn't shoot the 3 much while there, and when he did, it didn't go in for him very often (12% 3-ptFG%), but he must have really worked on his shot in his redshirt year at WSU, because he's lighting it up from beyond the arc now (42.5% 3-ptFG%).

So, given that he was a projected starter on a virtually top-25 team at WSU, and given what he's doing in juco, it's probably reasonable to pencil him in as a starter for us next year.

Cam Mack, from the looks of things, will be the starter at point at Nebraska as long as he wants to be. So, you can probably sharpie him into the starting lineup (barring catastrophic injury or transfer.)

That leaves 3 starting spots to be claimed.  We have only 2 seniors on this team, one of whom starts. So, only 1 current starting spot will be vacated by graduation.

We also have 3 guys sitting out as transfers, and at least 1 more scholarship to fill (depending on whether Donovan signs his LOI in the spring.)

Based on everything I'm hearing, I'm going to guess Banton jumps into the starting lineup right off the bat next year. So, that leaves 2 starting spots left to claim.

You starting to see the direction this is heading?

The players on the team know who's performing in practices.

Maybe "Drago" would suffice this season, @Kent Pavelka. Kid had an awesome game cleaning up the glass, and he made 5-7 FTs. Scored 11 pts with 14 caroms. Nice double-double!

From the Then & Now interview of Brian Carr:
HHC: 1985-1986 is a very memorable one for many reasons. Before we get to the positive, we have to ask what you remember about the illegal practice that happened at Mabel Lee. In your opinion, was that blown way out of proportion, and as a player, how did it make you feel?

BC: That was kind of the situation that I was talking about earlier in regards to Coach Iba, as far as making it very difficult. I don’t know… I hated the fact how everything occurred. Not just from the media side and not just from the players and coaching side, but just the whole situation. It was so tough to deal with, especially being 20 years old or whatever. I wish I could go back and change some things that took place and that were said, and so on. It was strange to have your own newspaper do that to you, to have that planted in the paper. But at the same time, if what we were doing was illegal or against the rules, I don’t know, I just did what we were supposed to do, and just learned to play. I didn’t want to deal with that other stuff.

    And from Bill Jackman
HHC: 1985-1986 was a memorable year in
Nebraska basketball history, as it marked the first
modern day NCAA Tournament appearance for the Huskers.
Before we talk about this, we’d like to get your
thoughts on the “illegal practice” that took place at
Mabel Lee Hall. What do you remember about it?
    BJ: No comment. (Laughs)

Do you think that the Mabel Lee Hall fiasco still grates on that team!?!?
