This is easy. You recruit HS kids so that you have a better chance to land them on their 2nd-5th stop.7 points -
Have to think that MSU in the running for Chucky simply because Fidler is there. Seems more like Chucky is going to get paid to lose at Louisville though3 points

Rhule absolutely nails it—you recruit kids that want to be there, period. This philosophy doesn’t really matter when you get the kid, but it certainly helps for continuity. Keisei wasn’t a freshman, but he wanted to be here and stay here. Gary, BW, Mast, Griesel, etc. all wanted to be here and it showed in how hard they play.3 points -

Why recruit pre-Madonnas when you can instead get post-Madonnas.3 points -

Only recruit high school kids that are within 500 miles of Lincoln is my thought. hopefully at some point NIL contracts become 2 year deals between players and universities2 points -

Nebraska To Be Booted From B1G?

Wasn't Danny Manning and Kansas at the Lincoln Regional that year? KU didn't have a great record but still made the Tournament. Lots of KU fans present and I believe the locals also were pulling for KU. They got hot and rode the momentum all the way to a National Championship.1 point -

His 3pt stroke/form looks like Reink's somewhat. Also, us recruiting him might be more evidence about our fears regarding Mast's knees1 point -

I like the pick and pop action with him. Not the most explosive kid but skilled for his size. Wonder how well he can defend the paint and perimeter.1 point -

Nebraska playing Texas A&M likely was part of the reason CJ ended up there as he would have been scouted by them as part of that process and they obviously liked what they saw1 point -

You recruit freshmen, because in this next cycle, 2-4 years, this NIL lunacy will end. Just watch. I guarantee it.1 point -

Looking at the beginning of the year, we were pretty fortunate thinking we wouldn’t have to play most of the teams in the bottom half of the league. Oh how the tables have turned since then. now you’re left with games against teams like Iowa that are Q4 home games. Sucks.1 point

I think this has less to do about a period in time and more about money. This is a byproduct of many things that transpired before COVID. AAU probably soiled the quality of loyalty, team, and athlete more than anything. Our sports and federal government entities have made these activities legal since circa 2021. Until some type of regulation (of league or legal action) comes into play, or until the market for NIL stabilizes (whether corporations determine they aren't getting an ROI, or universities/boosters can no longer shell out that level of money) I don't see this going anywhere any time soon.1 point -

A depth chart for the sake of recruiting Caveats If the freshmen do anything, consider it a bonus I don't care about the order of the players listed. Ulis could start over Worster, that doesn't matter here. Didn't list backups. Griffiths could play at the 4, etc. I'm trying to figure out what we need and I'd like to me we want to recruit to functionally keep him as a big shooting guard. PG Worster/Ulis SG Essegian/Griffiths/Sam SF Brice PF Gary C Morgan/Mast? Janowski and Frager Things change if Mast will be available. However seems like two post players for our remaining 3 scholarships and then whatever's clever with our last.1 point -

Been dealing with a back injury since 2018. When you're in the throes of an acute flair up it's hard to just exist. It's tough to do anything well, average, or even poorly1 point -

Essegian isn’t a specialist. He’s an all around player. Tough to do anything well with an injured back. Assuming he’s 100% to begin next season we just got an absolute steal and a definite contender to start at the 2. Either way, if healthy, I expect a huge contribution, and we’ll have him for a couple years.1 point -

The only reason that Allick's 3pt% wasn't atrocious was because he was wide open every time he took one. He was a relatively weak finisher and lacked touch. He was an athlete, however. But that can and will be replaced.1 point -
