This thread isn't about Nebraska Basketball, but, maybe there are some parallels. I want to give an update on my son Seth's health. For you new to the board, he has a condition called MDS--basically it's a form of leukemia. His body has an inability to produce red blood cells. This disease normally attacks the body's ability to produce white cells, but not in Seth's case. He's an anomaly there. Let me cut to the chase: A new drug was approved for the treatment of MDS and Seth has been on it for the last 9 weeks. We didn't know if insurance would cover the cost ---$2000 or mo37 points

Teddy shouldn't be the focus on "what's wrong with this team?" Bart Torvik rates him our most effective player, by a decent margin over Delano and a large margin over Trey. Yeah, his behavior is troubling, but a year ago everyone was convinced that FH would handle him. So he's exactly what we thought we were getting, except now the team is crap and some people are looking to point fingers. We signed up fo: a high-volume, high-scoring player with some baggage. We have one.15 points -

Here are two guys who sacrificed a comfortable senior season in a backwater Division I league to take a chance on Hoiball. They've been rewarded with humiliation on the court, and in Matej Kavas' case, a season-ending injury. This could be the least emotional Senior Day in a long time, but it doesn't mean we don't appreciate what these men gave up to become Huskers. A Toast!15 points -

And being replaced with better talent. The entire point of coaching is to recruit talent better than what you have. The guys we had are going to places like South Alabama, Pacific, etc. We are in the Big 10 and need Big 10 players. They were bodies in a lineup and we will continue to get more and more players in that fit the mold.15 points -

Hard to hold a grudge against anyone that's just trying to maximize their exposure during a very narrow window of opportunity. I personally want the best for any former Husker and the existence of this thread would seem to indicate most others do, as well. Sallis, like any other recruit with one-and-done ambitions wants to play in nationally-televised games. He can't achieve that here, but I hope he does elsewhere and that his success leads to increased exposure for other local players in the future.13 points -

No inside info on Shamiel, but I would think that he would be playing with his hair on fire in the minutes he does get in order to earn more. Thor is not terrible. Yvan is not terrible. Are they limited at this level? Yes. But they are still valuable contributors to the team and so is Lat. I'm all for constructive criticism when warranted, but none of these guys deserve to be called terrible.12 points -
Lebron is putting thousands of kids who come from nothing—like he did—through college. He is simultaneously helping register thousands of people across the country to participate in our democratic process while managing to be arguably the greatest player ever and winning championships. All things considered, I think his demonstrated empathy for those less fortunate lends itself to a place at the political table. It’s been quite interesting to see Black athletes uncensored and taking over the voice of the organization they continue to revolutionize. More ki12 points

Message from the Nebraska Basketball Team

Yesterday, the team came out and one by one named someone they were standing for. At the end Kobe Webster and Teddy Allen read from notes they had brought with them. Webster: "We stand together as one to find ways to educate people to hopefully stop this terrible trend of lives being lost for no reason. This is not a political fight. This is about being a decent human being. Hate is such a strong word that is unfortunately used and acted on too much in today's world. We're going to have a good team. There are no clear weaknesses on the roster for the first time in a loooong time. I don't know if we have any super stars, but we have some very, very good players. Fred has pulled off a recruiting miracle in year 2. When he brings in the gunners next season and a 4* stretch 4, it's going to be downright scary how we can scheme. But that's because he's a top 5 coach in the country and the coaching steal of the decade. I cannot wait to watch this team play.10 points

Unless there is some god awful thing Cam did, a fender bender and being late to some team functions isn't enough for me not to want him here next year. There is absolutely no risk with having him return to a roster full of talent and a 6'8" PG who would be more than happy to run the show. I haven't seen any wavering whatsoever with Fred and his team rules. If he decides Cam's behavior is too egregious to be corrected, I trust him, but from the outside looking in, I just see a rascal that needs to get his act together, not some criminal or deviant. Next seasons players
ConkintheCorner and 8 others reacted to Swan88 for a topic
Fred Hoiberg and Co. recruited Teddy Allen, Delano Banton and Derrick Walker in the first class. The second class includes Trey McGowens--which also results in the signing of his five star brother. Next year's class, including that brother, is a top-25 class. We have a great start on 2022 with a highly-sought big. The fact that Delano couldn't play the first season and Derrick couldn't play the first season and a half is significant in difficulties that have occurred--not to mention the pandemic-induced, month-long shutdown. If you want to dump on Yvan, please don’t use this thread to do it. He’s the only available player we have right now who can D up against Big Ten bigs. We need him. I am wondering what the coaches are doing to help him work on his shooting technique. If you have a chance, watch him shoot free throws. Most players (and by “most“ I mean everybody else) will cock the wrist of their shooting hand as they wind up for the shot. Yvan does not. It’s like a straight line from the back of his hand all the way down his forearm. This means he’s shooting primarily with the muscles of his tricep an9 points -

Re-watched the second half since that is obviously where things went very south. A few things that stuck out... 1. We love to ball watch. Creighton got a ton of baskets because all five sets of eyes were glued to the basketball. Whether it was shooters in transition, cuts, or drives, we were quite often playing a step behind defensively in the second half. 2. With that said, what really made Creighton great in that second half was once they got an advantage (due to poor closeout, offensive action, etc.) they NEVER let up. We were always in rotation because we were always trying to pl9 points -
