No. Counterpoints: 1. Saying players leaving is "excellent news" is in poor taste. They're college guys, not pros. And once a Husker always a Husker. I wasn't a fan of Shamiel's game even prior to the season starting, but I'm certainly not going to call him losing his spot on the team as "excellent." That's similar to telling your buddy that his decision to get divorced is excellent news. Just not the right response, man. 2. The fact that graduating seniors are eligible for an extra year in '21'-22 AND WILL NOT COUNT AGAINST THE SCHOLARSHIP LIMIT has been discussed ad na

  5. I'm not surprised. At this level, it's pretty common for rookies to hold out for more money. 100K and a good job for dad just don't go as far as they used to in this economy.

I'm just glad Quaran is not a teen. The past year has made me very leery of that combo.

  10. I am still on an emotional high as I consider all the new talent that is joining our team this year. I am 69 years old and have followed Husker basketball for most of my life. I enjoyed the Danny Nee years and didn't realize that it would be 40 years before we had the talent to challenge for a conference title. All I had was 'hope' that somehow, someway things would change. 'Thank You' Lincoln for building the Pinnacle and 'thank you' Moos for hiring Hoiberg and Matt. I think this incoming group of players can become the 'core' or 'nucleus' of a team capable of finishing in the top 1/3 of

You are coming across as a bit of a jackwagon. You should at least understand the rules before going down the jackwagon path. If Thor returns it does not affect our ability to get an extra recruit. He doesn't count against our scholarship total any longer. Even if he did, show some appreciation for a kid that became a great leader down the stretch three years in a row for a club that badly needed one each year.

The formula is quite simple. Take a player’s lifetime free throw percentage, subtract 20%, and that is what they will shoot in a Husker uniform.

  13. Growing up 120 miles west of Omaha, I had never even really heard of Creighton until I was 12 years old. Looking back, those were 12 pretty good years.

  18. Same could be said for Thor. We have room. It looks like we'll probably keep a couple spots open. He doesn't count against our total this year anyway. Why on earth would you not want Thor around. Even if he doesn't get many minutes, what he would provide in terms of stability in the locker room would be a benefit beyond measure.

  19. I think this season, I don’t know what our record will be or needs to be, but we need to finally start punching above our weight class. We need to hold serve against all lower division teams and knock off more upper division squads than games we lose to teams in the bottom half. We don’t need to finish top four or top five but we need to finish top half, anyway. That’s my thought on the subject.

  23. Ranger won in overtime today and is Final Four bound! Keisei had 25 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Blaise Keita and Coffeyville also got an OT win and going to the Final Four. Keita had 19 points (9/10 FTs!), 6 rebounds and 2 blocks. They’re on opposite sides of the bracket, so they could meet in the championship game. That’d be pretty awesome .

  24. OK, you limited your examination to "top 25." The link you provided actually goes back a lot further than that, and so I just took a quick historical look at the older data. Thank you for the link, by the way. Some of the stuff was consistent with what I thought I had remembered. For instance, in the early days of Scout (which became 24/7, right?) I can remember scrolling through page after page of basketball recruits trying to find the top player we were going after. And it was Charles Richardson. And, according to your link, he was ranked the 793rd best player in his class. And t

  28. All of the Creighton fans I know think that he did no wrong and everything was overblown. Do I personally think he is a racist? No I don’t. Do I think he was an idiot for what he said? Yes I do. Do I think he should have been fired? Probably not at that time. Do I think he should have received a longer suspension to make a point in today’s world? Probably. Am I enjoying the fallout from his idiotic comment? Most definitely!

  35. So, I was curious how the list would look if we added in transfers over the last 2 decades. Top 20. Here's what I come up with: 1. Bryce McGowens .9920 2. Isaac Copeland .9901 3. Anton Gill .9810 4. AW III .9801 5. Haanif Cheatham .9695 6. Glyn Watson Jr. .9692 7. Keon Edwards .9666 8. Dalano Banton .9641 9. Wilhelm Breidenbach .9568 10. CJ Wilcher .9541 11. 38. I feel the same way about Kobe. Have seen a lot of comments implying Kobe should be getting mop up minutes next year if we want to be competitive. Zoom out for a minute and pretend these highlights were of an incoming transfer for next year. A guy coming from a Power 5 conference. He’s small, but has a lightning quick, repeatable release so he has no trouble getting his shot off. Great handles, lateral quickness and knows how to create separation. Shoots it equally well off the catch and the dribble. NBA range, 38% from three and can put it on the floor and make tough, contested mid-range jump

  40. People asking lots of questions. Who's going to play what position? Will the newcomers come in and command a bunch of minutes and starts? At whose expense will the newcomers gain minutes? A window into answering some of those questions might come from looking at the 4 factors: Shooting; rebounding; turnovers; free throws. We sucked last year because we were the worst rebounding team in the Big 10. We were second-to-last in free throw percent. And bottom five in shooting and turning the ball over. That's a recipe for futility. Among the guys who n

  41. Alright, I really like the potential of that lineup. Reminds me of the Clippers. Point guard (Pat Beverly/Trey McGowens) - Great perimeter defender. Will bring the ball up the court and initiate the offense, but the offense usually doesn't run through him. But, you can't just leave him open, because he shoots the three at a good clip. Two long, athletic, versatile shot creators who can play multiple positions and can score on all three levels (Kawhi Leonard and Paul George/Bryce McGowens and Keon Edwards). Another wing (Nic Batum/CJ Wilcher) - Very good th

  42. Here is the list so far. I tried to filter out walkons. One other thing to note is that it's harder to quantify some guys this year as you have 5th year guys transferring because they happen to have an extra year. Also, it's just April 19th...school isn't even done yet. Winners seem like Maryland, Ohio St, and Indiana for sure as they all 3 got transfers from high level schools putting up numbers. Ohio St got a pair of B1G transfers. Nebraska lost Teddy Allen and rotation guys while gaining two 4 stars. I'd put that in the win column. Michigan St lost Rocket Watts but g

  43. -From a talent perspective, Teddy is the only one who is a loss. Obviously we can debate his fit in Fred's system, whether he would have gelled with the new players, etc. But Teddy was clearly a talented basketball player on the offensive end of the floor. -Yvan worked hard, had a fantastic attitude, and was a big body for DW and EA to go against in practice. I would've liked to keep him around because that's the sort of teammate I want using an end-of-the-bench scholarship. But if our second most significant loss is a guy who would've been at the end of the bench, then that's a good

GUARDS: Thinking too far ahead probably, but what the hay......discussion With Shelly now on board and the very good newbie guards coming.... plus the 6 or 7 on the roster already...we will be top heavy with guards. But they're some good ones. Will this allow more pressing on defense? Who of this group might help fill the 3 spot? Anxious to see Weidner in the mix... and Moriarity for that matter. Both are excellent additions. Really will have good guard (1-3 spots) group even if one or 2 still can't play from injuries....or transfers Maybe the best group we've ha
