Roby now has more career starts than Justin Patton and Khyri Thomas combined. Feels good.

Teddy shouldn't be the focus on "what's wrong with this team?" Bart Torvik rates him our most effective player, by a decent margin over Delano and a large margin over Trey. Yeah, his behavior is troubling, but a year ago everyone was convinced that FH would handle him. So he's exactly what we thought we were getting, except now the team is crap and some people are looking to point fingers. We signed up fo: a high-volume, high-scoring player with some baggage. We have one.

  3. No inside info on Shamiel, but I would think that he would be playing with his hair on fire in the minutes he does get in order to earn more. Thor is not terrible. Yvan is not terrible. Are they limited at this level? Yes. But they are still valuable contributors to the team and so is Lat. I'm all for constructive criticism when warranted, but none of these guys deserve to be called terrible.

  4. A lot of ways to go with this one, but I decided to highlight the 16-0 run Wisconsin went on in 5 minutes to really win the game. Possession by possession breakdown and then full thoughts. Here we go... 33-32) Potter duck-in on Yvan after PNR (2 points) 33-34) Banton blows right by Wahl for a weakly contested layup. Miss. Yvan O-rebound, miss 33-34) Potter easy post touch and squares up Yvan. Thor doesn’t wall off Potter, Yvan falls for shot fake, and Potter steps thru for easy layup (2 points) 33-36) Good action gets Banton downhill with left hand. Banton is thinkin

  8. - That's a mediocre Indiana team. They have one of the worst offenses in the conference, didn't really shoot the lights out tonight, but still scored 84 points. Our defense has been very poor the last few games. Lat, Teddy and Dalano can't stay in front of people. That's an issue to have them all on the court together. Even Trey didn't have a very good defensive game today. - 16 assists for us. Trey and Dalano did a good job of creating for teammates - 13 assists combined for them. Derrick alone will make other players' numbers look better. - Shon Morris can't stand T

  9. That was huge. Langford jogged right around a straight legged Teddy, who should’ve been blocking out, to grab the ball and put it back in. Some players make winning plays that don’t end up in the box score... we have some players that make too many losing plays that don’t end up in the box score.

  10. If everyone on this team would pass and cut like Thor we might create some open shots. Thor has weaknesses but so does every other player. Does Teddy play D? Can Banton shoot the three? Should Lat put the ball on the floor. Our struggles are not because of Thor.

  11. Two starters, Lat and Thor, are a combined 12 for 48 from beyond the arc since the first game. They were a combined 1-11 tonight and 1-18 over the last two games. You just can't have that. That's a black hole in the middle of your starting lineup. At spots where this offense needs shooters. Yvan started tonight and looked a lot better than he has previously, but he still has a deficit of offensive skills, which you saw on that missed point-blank putback attempt off the Dalano Banton miss. Trey McGowens does a lot of good things but he's not a great shooter a

Teddy is exactly as advertised. If he doesn't fit the system, then why was he recruited? Banton doesn't fit the system either, since he doesn't push the pace and isn't a great 3-point shooters. But they're both good players, so adjust the system to make better use of their abilities.

  17. First of all, let me just say there's some macabre humor in reading an argument among several posters about who is the worst player on a bad basketball team. Second, this was a good bounce-back performance after Ohio State. While the fans might be folding up their tents and getting ready to head home, the players haven't. We sucked out loud at Ohio State, and it would have been easy for the players to just phone it in after that. Instead, they gutted out a performance that had them playing Michigan State even in the 2nd half. That's actually encouraging.

Season rides on severity of Bourne’s injury. IMO, Haiby and her are irreplaceable. It is imperative that Brady return soon. If we can defeat all of the teams lower than us and notch another upset or two this season could have a very pleasant outcome. But, it all rests on the injury to Issy.

  22. I'm guessing Hoiberg has a better feel for what's going on in the inner workings of and interpersonal dynamics within his program than any of us on the outside looking in. What does "Hoiberg better start taking notice" even mean? More generally, McGowens is shooting 40.6% inside the arc and while he's shooting well from 3, he's taken twice as many 2s and isn't shooting well from the foul line either. He has 15 assists and 22 turnovers in 11 games this season. It's great that he played really well against a bad defensive team in Michigan State; hopefully that carries forward. But d

  23. It disgusts me that officials continue to let teams like Rutgers play the way they do simply because they have that reputation. Bottom line is when you play that physical, you foul. Pretty much every possession. It's nearly impossible to play against that type of physical play because you never have any freedom of movement. Constantly held, hacked, shoved, etc. It simply should not be allowed. Great job ladies to beat the thugs.

I think that who ever that kid is every year that he could save a family from a house fire and some on here would still think he should have also put out the fire. Just my $.02.

  28. I know coaches have different styles, but I like the Jeff Van Gundy style of holding players accountable in-game. "The best motivator is the bench," he says. We have players that keep making the same elementary mistakes without consequence. Maybe they're being held accountable in practice. I know Hoiberg is at least talking to them about it, because he talks to the media about it. As someone else on here pointed out, Jim Molinari used to say, "you are what you sub for." If you want to clean up poor shot selection, take a guy out when they attempt a stupid shot. If you want Lat a

  29. I've noticed over the years when you try to blend a bunch of new guys together, it generally takes a good ten games before they kind of figure out where the points come from and how to make those opportunities happen. This year, we had a bunch of new guys but not the luxury of a normal non-conference with a host of directional cupcakes to cut our teeth on. Yeah, we lost, but we were within 4 points with 6 minutes to play against a top 20 team. I think we're going to see some guys begin to appear more comfortable out there and I think we have a win or two on the horizon.

  31. Hello, Nebrasketball fans. I come in peace wanting to discuss your upcoming game tomorrow. I saw a little bit of discussion in the pinned thread, so if pulling this out is not kosher, I apologize. If you haven't seen the Badgers this year, they returned all 5 starters who are all seniors. Not a single player made first or second team of the B1G last year, even though they were co-champions, a testament to the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. 3 bench players play a lot - another senior, who's the backup PG, and a sophomore and a freshman. They've shot ligh

  32. Disagree on Hoiberg's offense. We did not regularly get open looks under Miles. We relied on Petteway/Palmer/Tai/etc to make plays, often at the end of the shot clock. Our assists per made field goal is astronomical under Hoiberg, compared to under Miles and Doc. You said it yourself - Banton and Yvan missed back to back uncontested bunnies. Thor and Lat also missed layups. We're getting open shots within the flow of the offense. If you want to blame Hoiberg for not getting guys who can knock down open shots, that's fine I guess. But we are getting those shots.

  37. His ability exceeded my expectations and that makes me more optimistic for the future. We could potentially have him for two more years (this year doesn’t count for eligibility right?). A solid post player like him with the McGowens brothers, Dalano and more shooters and we’ll be on the right track.

Yesterday I saw the fight and determination that was evident during AW's second season but has often been hard to find since. GREAT JOB all around, ladies. It especially great to see Scoggins and Brown hit the 3s. Of course there are a few recurring problems that i hope we will see less of the most annoying to watch are 1) lazy lob passes over defenders capable of grabbing them out of th

  44. what exactly are your recruiting results that you need to see? In his first real recruiting cycle he has a 5*, a kid in the national 50-75 range and best shooter in Juco. That is a great result if you asked me. Fred inherited a horrible roster that had to be wrecked. Think it is crazy to put him on the clock in less than two years and only 10 games into a season with mostly new guys playing together. It sucks waiting and watching crap like last night but he is a proven coach and needs time

  45. My analysis will start with the coach, who has won before in a major conference, so until this continues to suck for another couple of years, I'm going to assume we have a successful coaching staff. As for the players, I haven't watched a lot of other teams in the Big Ten this year, but I've seen enough to seriously wonder if any of our guys — with Banton as a possible exception — would start on ANY other Big Ten team. Hell, OSU pulls a guy off the bench, Ahrens, who plays 12 minutes a game, and shoots the lights out. Our candidates to play that role are: An Icelander who's h

  47. For the first time this season, the Nebraska men's basketball team had family and friends — roughly 20 of them — on hand to watch a game. Senior guard Trey McGowens, whose entire family was up from South Carolina, appreciated it.

  48. It just doesn't seem like this team is committed to run. The guy with the ball will push it but everyone else runs with the pack instead of getting out ahead of the ball. Nike Bahe said a few times that he would like to see Nebraska's athletes in the open floor. I would like to see us press to get the game going up and down even if it means giving up easy shots which we do anyway. We can't guard the post one on one and when we double it just leads to open threes. Everybody thinks they want to run and gun but it takes a full commitment from five guys to run hard on every possession, make or mi
