Still the most wins in a season for this program since before many of you were born. I'm disappointed. Demoralized. It was embarrassing. The aTm fans were jerks. All of those things. But the sun came up this morning. I have a tee time. And my guys were still the best team we've put out there in close to 3 decades. So, I'm keeping my season tickets and I'll see you all at the vault next fall. Best regards, Norm

I'm glad that CJ stuck it out the last three years. He won us a couple games this year especially the Wisconsin game. He is a guy we should all be rooting for in his final collegiate season.

Why are we collectively so afraid to call it a great season? Yeah, we got boat raced in the tourney. One and done, I get it it. But the YEAR is on the Mount Rushmore of Husker Hoops seasons. And beyond the wins and losses, this team was a joy to cheer for. The year was fun and exciting and full of far more ups than downs. Don't be afraid to call it what it truly was: great.

  7. J-Law quickly vaulted up my list with how genuine he greeted my bro and I after such a painful defeat in Memphis. He was so kind and gracious with his time (while his own 'bro' waited...) that I leaned in for a hug. He wished us well on our journey home. Wow, that's an impressive young man. He could have been surly and sulked, he chose to be a great human being. And that means a lot to a big NU fan, I'll sing his praises as long as I live. That's a good dude, J-Law. GBR Always.

  9. Need to bring William Kyle home. He's gonna have a lot of offers. He is turning into an absolute monster. Same dawg mentality as Allick, but a bit taller, more explosive and a lot longer. 6'9" with a 7'3" wingspan and 40+ inch vertical. I heard that he led the country in dunks this year. Can't figure out how to verify if that's true. Summit League DPOY, first team all-conference, conference tournament MVP. Shoots 62% from the field and is a real rim protector. Humble kid, academic all-conference. I'd take him over Omoruyi or any other big in the portal and not because he's from Omaha.

  10. Really? I thought the A&M coach was awful. They had an athletic and physical team; but schematicaly did nothing to leverage them. The ex-A&M player turned announcer kept referencing their injuries without referencing our injury. Amy never panicked and despite an underwhelming 4th quarter, pulled out the win. This Nebraska coach, who many bash, now has a team, that leverages the entire roster, in the top 32 in the entire country. A team that is now in the top 10% in the country. A team that had, arguably, it's best player in foul trouble within the first 3 minutes, yet prevailed. I'm really, really unsure what people want or see when the see this Husker team compete. But for me, I see a few exceptional players typically perform at a high level, and I see role players who work hard plugging gaps and oftentimes excel when asked.

  15. To me the big picture is we built an identity two years ago, we added on to it last season successfully, and we need to continue to build with with the best guys we can find who fit that identity

It's game day! This team is going to need every single one of us to support them, whether in the arena or sitting at home. Where are you planning to watch the win today? Inside FedExForum? Couch fisting your living room furniture? At a local bar? Too terrified to watch so you just listen to Kent on the radio? For those who want to be at the came but can, just know you're right there with each and every one of us. For those who are at the game, make 10x the noise for each and everyone who couldn't be there. LET'S GET A WIN TODAY!

  19. I have said this over and over again; talent is highly overrated IF high character and work ethic doesn't come with it. Nebraskans insist on the latter two. Alonzo Verge was much more athletic than Sam Griesel. Who would you rather have on our team? So I am definitely not discounting the need to become stronger, longer and more athletic. But it has to be the right fit in order to make sure this program continues to move forward.

  20. Great season and great progress for this program. I’m really proud of them, even if we didn’t get to see our best offensive games this weekend. Jaz is a Husker legend and more than that, she is an amazing person and role model for future generations. She will be missed, but she laid a solid foundation to continue to build on.

  22. OK, guys, hear me out here: I know that you can't do the "what if" stuff and it works both ways, BUT ... In the first half, they waived off a Keisei bucket and clearly incorrectly called him for travelling. Count that basket. Now, we're only down 12 at half. In addition, Josiah Allick missed 5 layups in the first half. Point blank. If he makes just 3 of those, now we're only down six. For the game, they shot an unbelievable 13 of 23 (56.5%) from beyond the arc. Let's say they just shoot a torrid 40%, which is still 12% better than their average and 5% better than they shot against Houston. That's 9 of 23. That's 12 points difference. Maybe they get a couple of offensive rebounds off those misses and get 2-point put-backs. That's still 8 fewer points on their end. So, instead of losing 83-98, that puts it at 91-90, good guys on top. My point is we weren't as bad as the final score made us look AND the game really came down to them being way uncharacteristically hot from deep. And to add to this point, that same team, shooting a more ordinary 35% from deep, just took a #1 seed to OT. That's who we lost to.

  23. And that's where we are in this rebuild. In Fred's first three years, we had a smidgen of inexperienced basketball talent and low- to mid-level athleticism. Last year and this, we added experience and basketball talent. For next year, we need to add more athleticism without sacrificing basketball IQ and experience. That's a tough needle to thread at a place like Nebraska.

  24. Sheesch! this has been a great year!!! we outperform our 12th place prediction. our third place finish is in a conference that is undefeated so far (except for us) in both the NCAA and the NIT first rounds. we made it to the dance. we don’t get to play a nobody at the dance and pretend we beat someone good. the last game and a half exposed our weaknesses. Fred Hoiberg and Co. will continue to improve Nebrasketball. it’s been a great—and totally unexpected—run this season. can’t wait for next year!!

  25. So you are putting this on him? He scored 21pts. Every team’s best defender was on him. He was grabbed and pulled in every game. Defensively he improved every season. He wasn’t an elite defender, however he was average. His scoring more than offset any defensive deficiencies. It will be very difficult to replace him. Best pure shooter since Pike.

  28. All in all a doggone good season. We did make strides, but of course good teams do during the season. I would hope the coaching staff will think about this game as they recruit moving forward. Recruiting seems to be on a bit of an uptick for the 2024-25 season so far, but let's try to get another really good player or two out of the portal and really augment this team! GBR always and forever!!

  30. Jaz has to be feeling pressure. She came back for this, to do something in the NCAA Tournament. She has been a godsend for the program. Maybe she will loosen up and have a great game Sunday. I will hate to see her last game as a Husker.

  31. Rough ending. Not entirely unexpected. Rough matchup. Had Illinois vibes before it started. All the bandwagon non football fans will say we choked and hop off. They'll do the same to the women's team and the baseball team. F' em and we'll see them when they hop back on next March. The 6000 true fans that packed devaney every shit year will roll on, pain and all. GBR Sent from my Pixel 7 using Tapatalk

  32. I will attempt to put a positive spin on things at this very sad point. We were a much better team than most thought possible. We were picked 12th in our league...yet finished third.we had no clue what our line up would do; they gelled and brought great joy. We had a player (Keisei) that received national recognition. Our team was nationally embraced. We made the NCAA tournament, while many may have been satisfied with NIT type improvement. So I am upset...but man, what a great ride.

  33. Sad stuff :( So proud of this team. Keisei had an incredibly positive impact on this program and this years team. Anyone who says otherwise is an idiot. Im going to miss Josiah. He played his balls off every game.

  34. Funny story...we are in Memphis and were walking back to our hotel last night after dinner. Out of nowhere, Tominaga and Burt came zooming past us on electric scooters. We of course told them Go Big Red and Tominaga, as always, was smiling as if he were having the time of his life. I left the encounter praying he didn't crash on his scooter. I've heard of no crash this morning so I believe my prayers were answered and I can claim a small piece of this victory today!

  36. They put THAT video out at 8 am? How do they expect me to get any work done today, knowing I'm now going to have to put that thing on loop until 5:50? They couldn't have waited til 3 or 4 pm? Seriously one of the best videos they've done, and they have done a lot of them this season.

  37. Winning basketball High character players Players graduate Highly thought of incoming recruiting class A staff that is respected for player development Team plays an exciting brand of basketball Players who make all conference teams Role model Yeah, sure a wart here or there; but what coach doesn't have a few of those blind spots. Count me in the group that is happy she has been extended.

  38. I expected CJ to depart. He is a good man and worked hard while at Nebraska. I wish him nothing but the best. He helped turn our culture around! That said, every time he put the ball on the floor, attempting to drive to the basket, gave me a near death experience. Again, thank you for being a Husker CJ.

  40. So far, I'd say it's just like last year and the guys who are portalling are the guys who the coaches probably told to portal. We have 4 spots to fill; we are early to the trough; we have some selling points to make for ourselves; and we probably have some cash to spend. If you've entered the portal and you want to see how you'd fit into our system, here's some film. Feast your eyes.

  43. You'll be happy to know Houston barely held aTm to a lower score than we did. I think that was the closest any 1-seed came to losing so far. I think momentum should carry more weight on selection Sunday than it seems to carry. No way Wisconsin should have been a 5. They were on a downward trend but boosted up by early season success. aTm was the opposite. They were surging and their seed did not reflect it.

Some of the most fun I've had as a fan. No reason this team can't make the tournament on a consistent basis. The program is only at the first step. Winning one tournament game isn't the end all. Consistently make the tournament and it will come.

I made it. Checked into the hotel. Going up the elevator with some people from Longwood and they commented about all the Nebraska fans that are here. They said the university reached out to their athletic department to pick up any unused allotment of tickets as soon as they were available. Then, some kid, another elevator was telling his dad how many Husker fans were here.
