Random question. Does it seem that we are reaching out to a significant number of players? Sooo, we must not have anyone locked down? I'm not worried ---yet; but dang, since we had an early start, you'd think we would be closing on a couple players sooner rather than later.

Bourne has been rock steady for the Huskers and she will be sorely missed. Jaz came here because of her friendship with Izzy and this may lead her back to Australia . Thanks for your efforts for the Cornhuskers Izzy!

Creighton players have been schooled on how to grab and pull in ways that aren't easy to see. They had to go to the video to nail Kalkbrenner for a Flagrant 1. But, watching the replays, you saw them doing stuff like this all game long.

I trust Fred on this. I think he learned his lesson about accumulating sketchy talent. If Fred thinks Kriisa is worth the risk, then I'm good with it.

For me it is the fans. Many of them that aren’t Jayskers are just so pompous. Then for the tins of Jayskers(not all) that hate Nebraska basketball and root against us while being Husker football fans and volleyball. You can like Creighton and root for Huskers also. But so many of these kind will be back to red in hoops if and when the programs directions flip. Then there is also the fact that we are in many recruiting battles with them. Battles that so many Husker football and volleyball fans are actively hoping we lose. Admittedly it was a little harder this year to hate them with Scheierman being an Aurora kid I have communicated with a little over the years and being a huge fan of Nembhard’s brother being a die hard Pacer fan. Hopefully, they are gone soon so normalcy can ensue.

Trying to look at this in non-biased way - I'm gonna say Sam. Getting a couple days into the tournament is something Creighton's already done. I think Sam brought our program to life.

You’d be surprised, there’s a LOT more of us out there than you would think(Husker Basketball fans). I remember stopping in the 49’r a few years ago & there was only one other gentleman in the bar & a Husker game on the TV. Come to find out he knew everyone from Carl McPipe on down & I’ve seen that happen more often than not, especially in a Football saturated State.

Always thought a lot of Barney. He did about everything (position coach) that he was asked. Player on offense and defense, head coach, position coach, offensive coordinator, etc etc etc. Brought his kids here to play. True Husker for life. High character guy. Hope he recovers and enjoys his retired life. He said in the interview he really misses working with the players. No surprise.

for any of you that are Husker football fans, might want to check out the hour with Barney Cotton on 93.7 early break with Sip, Jake, and Bill Barney talks about his heart transplant.........and, the period he took over before Riley........the Eichorst fiasco. if you're not interested in the whole hour, the Eichorst ordeal starts about the last 20 minutes. i found the whole thing pretty interesting, but, especially that last 15-20 minutes. i don't know when the podcast gets posted.

That's not the point. The relatively small number of people that care enough about basketball to attend a state tourney are not your average Nebraskans. If you want to know what kind of impact Sam had statewide, then ask a barber in Valentine what he thinks of Sam. Ask your cashier at a Milligan grocery store. Ask a waitress at the North Platte Applebee's. Or a barista at the Sidney Starbucks. Do you think those people would say they were impacted by either Sam or Creighton? I don't. And that's my point, that neither of the options have had a statewide impact on Nebraska.

I'd be stunned if Walsh doesn't start after what he did last Tuesday in relief.

I find it hard to believe Brink would leave Stanford. Yes she has a year left, or two if she wants to use her covid year. As hard as it is to get into Stanford unless she is very unhappy there you just do not hear about many athletes leaving. Certainly a degree from Stanford carries more weight than one from Iowa. It is or was her dream school. I guess stranger things can happen but just don't see it.

Hate Creighton. Will never cheer for them just because they are from Nebraska. So happy they lost. However, respect is due here for Mac. Didn’t blame the loss on anything really. “Missed some shots, that’s basketball” he said. So many things happen throughout a game that changes the outcome. One single play, call, etc never “decides” a game completely. Respect him not blaming the loss and focusing on what THEY can control.

Nebraska needs players who are play-makers. That's why Jaz Shelley seems like an important returnee. Hope NU can find someone to replace the impact of Sam Haiby and Isabelle Bourne, they were both willing playmakers for the Big Red. Gotta get even more capable, reliable, & impactful ballers in the fold. GBR

He might be right on this if he's talking about ALL Husker fans. If he's just talking about Husker basketball fans then I'd venture it's much closer to a 100% than 99% that hate them

Girlfriend attends creighton and he waited to enter the portal until the first day of creighton's offseason. Previous comments about wanting to be closer to "loved ones" rather than "home." I don't think it's a stretch to say that they are in the driver's seat for his services

I guess I disagree. I have asked and know a lot of people in northeast and central Nebraska who follow husker basketball; perhaps more religiously than those of us in Lincoln. Same with Husker baseball and Volleyball. Of course I may not share the same interest as some of those that you mentioned. I just think there are a lot of fans out there.

Hopefully we do our due diligence. Not a lot of great reviews on this kid out there.

I’ve never really seen a KSU fan say “I don’t get the KU hate” or an Oklahoma fan say “I don’t get the OSU hate”. Some teams, programs, schools, and fanbases just don’t like each other.

Sam reminded folks they’re are MANY people (let’s call it a Silent Majority) who DO grow up dreaming of playing Nebraska Basketball He embodies the work ethic, grit & fearlessness that Cornhusker fans have come to know & love. And remember Creighton was paying players before there was ever NIL money

I have also noticed that we have fired up the Matt A memorial transfer receiving portal station.

Neither had a statewide impact. Your average person in Nebraska doesn't know who Sam Griesel is. And your average person west of Elkhorn doesn't care about Creighton in any capacity.

Statewide...probably the firing of Frost and the hire of Coach Rhule. Most of the population outside of Omaha could care less about Creighton, but were likely intrigued by their run. A lot of Nebrakans likely were happy that both Sammy and Brady came back to their home state to finish their collegiate careers.

Please no to this! Creighton didn't lose the game on that call, which I had no problem with. They had 10 turnovers to 9 assists and shot 2-17 from three and missed a ton of open looks. That's why they lost. I am a hard no on coaches challenges in basketball. I don't mind the human element and everything will look like a foul in slow motion as opposed to real time. End of games are already long enough with constant clock reviews as well!

I guess they are comparable; one was one of the worst moments of my life, while the other one was one of the best.

If you, as a referee see there was a foul, you have to call it. Criticize the way the rest of the game and the way it was called (or not called) vs a correct call. Where do you draw the cut line for swallowing the whistle though? 2 seconds, 5 seconds? Up 1,2,3? If players knew they could get away with anything that last 30 seconds it wouldn’t be good. Players did decide that game. The player fouled and then the other player hit the FT for the foul. Now with all of that being said, I would be mad pissed if that’s how we lost an NCAA game. That’s just part of being a fan.
