    Nebraska is defrosted

    We speak from experience here.

  2. Was there as well. Brady started along with Jaz, Issie, Alexis, and Allison. . Will be interesting how fall camp goes. Was thinking we may see Krull in that roll as a starter. Of course no Sam on the court and Dillard as well. Was hoping to see a little of Dillard. What I expected from what we seen on the court. There is a replay on the WBB portion of Huskers.com.

  3. I think Wisconsin firing Paul Crist just broke the Frank Solich curse. I’m hoping there was some basketball anomaly curse rolled up in there too.

  4. My feeling was that they knew Leonhard was on many lists of up and comers. They may have been pushed a little towards making their change. Or is it to get ahead of the line for Wisconsin born-bred-and-coached, Lance Leipold?

It seems to me that curse goes all the way back to Dr. Naismith himself. We traded the program's entire future for one game. "Nebraska, by then known as the "Cornhuskers", played an out-of-state opponent for the first time the following season, defeating James Naismith and Kansas 48–8 in what is still the worst loss in KU history. NU's 1900 team was retroactively ranked second nationally by the Premo-Porretta Power Poll." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nebraska_Cornhuskers_men's_basketball#cite_note-5

The "we didn't hire Dana Altman and so he did some voodoo shit and hexed us" curse?

  7. Bucky should hire Brett Favre, that might be the last State left where he could get a job.

  8. Watched the Friday night basketball scrimmage gala (mens and womens BBall) It was just a scrimmage really, but could see a few things that we'll see this fall. They all seemed glad to be back at it on the big stage. Some shots weren't dropping, but it's way early and a scrimmage anyway. We'll miss Sam. New help from Hake and Krull will help make up for Sam being gone.....but Sam's ability to get to the basket was crucial. But there was a lot of driving to the basket by everyone last night. Issie and Jaz were themselves of course. Coley, seemed a bit more focused, ready to go. Annika & Kendall too. Trinity Brady played. She looked a little rusty, but that's to be expected. It was nice to see her back. Weidner and markowski looked way more comfortable on the court. Markowski had one of her signature 3's. Both seem smoother and less "new". Hake and Krull will be nice adds at the guard position....they both remind you of Weidner somewhat. They can handle the ball well. Of course, Mendelsen can make a huge difference in the complection of the team, but that's months away. That's about it for a quick overview. You all might have something else to add. Just nice to get going again. They looked like they were having fun. As it should be.

  9. Agree. Seems much more likely that Wisconsin wants to see what it has in Jim Leonhard and/or it's new AD needs to make a move syndrome.

  10. I don't think NIL is the driving factor in the mid-season firings. It's the early transfer window. I think you'll see a significant adjustment to that fairly quickly to try to curb the mid-season canning.

  12. I'm not worrying about guarding the PG, we can switch everything with our size. Might occasionally get caught in a mismatch with Walker's man, but that's a small price to pay for cutting off drives and giving up open 3s. We have a starting group that can play bully ball, like Houston or UConn, but is it going to? That's my first question. If we continue to push pace and shoot 3s, this team is not going to be good. Just not enough offensive talent. At some point we'll need somebody to put the ball in the basket. Bando seems like the best option at this point, but keep in mind he was the 4th scorer on a team that won 1 game in the NIT. His highlights show mainly spot up jumpers, with occasional drives after somebody else got the defense out of position. And for all the offseason kumbaya talk, how together will this team be when 3 or 4 guys are competing to be "the man." That's my second question. As for the Koolaid, I don't think the talk of a bubble team is crazy at all. I see a group that Gregg Marshall could turn into a bubble team. But can Fred to it? That's my third question.

  13. You didn't ask for this post so sorry for quoting you personally haha. But personally... I've made a choice to drink the kool aid. I believe social media, "insider" boards, constant media attention, have taken a huge amount of the fun out sports and fandom. We've all become so fatalistic about our sports teams and it's really tiring and annoying. I've gotten to the point where I've chosen to start each season with a clean slate and be an optimist. I no longer see the value of being realistic, and, effectively, wishing (subconsciously and consciously) for your team to perform poorly so that it matches your opinion/beliefs/predictions. I see a lot of that happening. And I irrationally believe in the power of "positive energy." I think Husker Football, especially, has been doomed by all of the negative energy and camps that have been built up due to "Coach X" being hired/fired. There were people all over the insider boards who called Pelini's, Riley's, Frost's failure from the start. And it seems like they very much enjoyed their predictions being right. And I never understood why they relished in being so negative or "realistic" from the start. I guess I believe in the power of positive energy. Every team starts each year or era with obvious flaws/holes. I find it a lot more fun to believe our coach will fix those and let it happen. Maybe I get let-down? To me, personally, it's better than playing the "I told you so" game that so many of my friends like to play. I find myself during Husker Football and Basketball games being the "Dude - can we just watch and cheer the game? I don't care what you read on your insider board about why you know they'll fail." That's just me!
