Scoggin enters portal...

Below is the UNLV womens basketball site and their announcement of adding Scoggins to their roster. Personally, I am glad she found a place to play after what did or did not happen with the Husker team. Wishing her well with UNLV and in life as well!! UNLV was 26-7 last year and plays in the Mountain West Conference which they won the post season tournament. They played Arizona in the NCAA Tournament losing 67-72. https://unlvrebels.com/news/2022/6/1/womens-basketball-lady-rebels-add-scoggin-to-roster.aspx6 points -

My "hope" meter was running near empty. Although it is far from full, this added a bit to it. This is the poop I need to see and hear about. I do believe this kid can play a role on this team. If nothing else, work ethic, love of the game and love of the huskers appear to leak from his approach. https://huskerextra.com/news/basketball/mens-basketball/nebraska-commit-cale-jacobsen-is-practicing-what-he-preaches-more-practice/article_dca124bb-2409-5065-a95d-849f24fbdbad.html?utm_source=huskerextra.com&utm_campaign=%2Fnewsletter-templates%2Flocal%2Fheadlines&utm_medium=PostUp&utm_content=d09b424543be8222e4a241a7937d248958c110143 points -

Overall, liked how we looked. Think that group (Morocco) would have been top 4 in CONCACAF qualifying. Uruguay will be without Suarez, but still a stiff test. I’ll be there. First ever US game in person.1 point -

But, we can turn not going to bowl games into a recruiting advantage. Tell recruits that if you come here, you’ll get December off.1 point -

Hard to argue with that as coaching was and has been less than impressive the past 4 seasons.1 point -

Totally agree with you as just as frustrated with how Fred allowed the offense to be as bad as it was last year. He basically gave the players all the freedom they wanted and even more frustrating that it took him 3/4 of the season to realize it wasn't working and try running more set plays. And you are correct, I just threw out 80% as I have no idea either but do know there were many possessions in a row that only Bryce and Verge touched the ball. It was a multiple of things last year and coaching is high on that list as well. And obviously losing 2 key players with injury didn't help matters either.1 point -

We had the worst defense in the Big Ten by 7 points and got outrebounded by 7 every game! Of course our pace is a part of this but this team should be significantly less leaky from the perimeter and if there's a blow by we have some rim protection. Also the less our big guys need to leave their man to help against penetration the more they can block out and rebound which will helps our biggest weakness. We lose our offensive playmakers but we should be able to make up for that by cutting turnovers from 13.4 (3rd worst in B10), which would also help our transition defense.1 point -

You forgot There's so much more buy-in than last year You can just see the talent level has really increased They've really bonded as a team Guys are working harder in practices than I've ever seen Every single player is always the first one to get there and the last one to leave. It's remarkable really.1 point -

We averaged 73.3 ppg last year. 4th in the Big Ten. The 3 teams ahead of us won 20+ games. We also had the worst defense by a huge margin. We were-5.3 giving up an average of 78.5 ppg. Other than Nebraska, only Maryland (70.7) and Iowa (71.2) gave up more than 70. If we average 70 ppg on offense that would have been good enough for 11th last year in offensive output. So if we average 70, to have the kind of season we hope for we would have to go from giving up 78.5 ppg to at least 68ppg and really to be safe, about 66. That's a switch from -5.3 to +4.0. I'm not saying it's impossible or that it won't happen. I hope to God it does because it would be amazing.. but in order to do that we would basically have to go from what we were last year to being Wisconsin. We really need someone or a couple of guys to get together and get us an extra 4ppg over your 70. If we can get to 74ppg getting the defense to 71-72 is at least a legitimately good chance. Though again +4 is the dream so giving up 70 and putting up 74 would likely be getting everything out of this roster in this league. BTW not enough credit is given to Rutgers coaches. Last year was a masterclass of getting the absolute most out of a team. They were only +2 giving up 66.5ppg while scoring 68.5. Yet somehow won 18 games and were 2 games over. 500.. If Fred and his staff could do that kind of work here, they would have statues.1 point -

This summer, my beverage of choice will be gin and tonic rather than Kool-Aid. Presumptive? starters: Griesel: Summit League Stud. Can he do it at the Big Ten level? Big question mark there. Bandoumel: 4th leading scorer for a solid mid-major SMU team, but shoots a middling 35% from three. Wilcher: Clutch shooter and seems like a good kid but athletically underwhelming. Gary: WTF? Who put him in the starting lineup with Walker? He got 15 min/gm at Alabama and shot 22% from three. Walker: Can be a stud at times. Scores efficiently. Improved his FT shooting *tremendously.* Still undersized Big Ten 5. Others: Keita: Coming off injury Breidenbach: Coming off injury Tominaga: Coming off just not being very good at defense McPherson: Coming off not playing Dawson: Coming off getting floor burns in practice diving for loose balls Kojonets: Coming off being a slightly uncoordinated 7 ft toothpick Lawrence: Coming off a solid season against high school competition Lloyd: Coming off a solid season against high school competition So, anyway, yeah, I'm feeling GREAT about this upcoming season. Where's my G&T?0 points
